I’m using a german xda 2i.
ROM-Version: 1.11.01 GER
ROM-Datum: 01/27/05
Radio-Version: 1.03.00
Protokoll-Version: 1337.42
ExtROM-Version 1.11.132 GER
I connect to an access point and can surf the internet… No problem at all. But as soon as I start a Voice over IP software (irrespective of X-Pro, SJ Phone, Skype; I tried them all), I encounter troubles. The software starts and I can place a call. Sometimes I can talk for 10 sec. sometimes for 30 minutes, but always after an undefined period my partner can’t hear me anymore, but I still can for about 10 sec. Then the connection breaks, but according to the PDA I’m still connected. At this stage it is also not possible to surf anymore via browser. If I disconnect, I can’t reconnect. Means I have to reset the PDA. Everything is working again. I’m running the system in turbo mode: 520 MHz and full performance mode for the wifi.
Am I’m really the only one with such a problem??? I’m trying to solve it for 1 month now but no success.
I read somewhere it could be a WZC problem???
Please help!!!
Oh, an important fact I’ve forgotten: Connect the device with power and the problem is vanished…
Am I really the only one???
I can’t believe that nobody else encounters these problems…
Do you all use VOIP successfully with your 2i ?
Maybe a hardware problem???
Any advices? Please help, I’m stumped…
Cheers

When I use my XDA to go to the internet it works for a 2 or 3 minutes and it cuts the comunication.
Is there something to mantein the connection?
i have:
ROM Version: 3.14.40 ENG (Tmobile)
ROM Date 11/26/02
Radio Version: 6.18
Protocol Version: 324e4
Can you Help me?
It cuts the communication and doesnt go to stanby or the connection is d/c when the device goes to stanby?
You know i mean the screen turns off your GPRS d/c?
:?:
No, it doesn't go to stand by mode...
When I'm browsing internet, is cuts the acees via GPRS...
After several minutes of successful browsing, things stop working. All of the sudden, if I attempt to access a page, I get a, "The page you are trying to open cannot be found" error. After this occurs, I must disconnect and re-connect to GPRS to be able to browse again.
I can cause this to happen at will: just browse for a few minutes, then I get the error.
Ummm it happened to me once but it wasnt the XDA's problem it was the operator - When i called the customer support of my operator they said that there is load up on the GPRS in my area but after that call in several days the problem didnt occure anymore and i can browse normaly now.
I think you should call your Mobile Operator talk to the customer support they can help you.
As for your XDA i think there are some Newer Rom Version that you cn upgrade too, check the ROM section
Didn't you connect through Inbox or another application? Inbox disconnects data call about 5 minutes after it has finished downloading e-mails. Some programs (IE, Ezos WAP etc.) do the same..

I cured the problem.
Under the modem settings for the connnection, tap and hold the modem setting. A context menu will pop up. Make sure "Always Dial" is NOT selected.
Good luck, and let me know if this works.
PS I received this advice from T-Mobile Cust. Care. They have been doing a great job solving my issues!
It works
I've tried it for the last hour, previously I was sure the GPRS connection died after a few minutes, now it keeps working, so I am very happy.
Having a Dutch XDA from O2 with Vodafone GPRS
gprs cut out?
Hi,
When I am not using the internet for about 10mins the
connection is automatically cut off? I have my GPRS always
on when on power saving mode.
Any ideas how to keep the connection so that you wont be
cut off? :?
Hoi,
For me the GPRS issue is fully resolved. It's stabile and faster then ever.
I put in a new simcard: (this resolved the issue of not beiing able to turn off/on the phone when not fully charged)
I installed the latest ROM upgrades 3.14.13 en 4.16 UK
On a site with autorefresh every 5 minutes, i had it succesfully on for 2 or 3 hours.
when not refreshing
I mean when I didnt use the internet or refresh when
on gprs, the xda will automatically disconect the gprs
on or about 10 mins after you last used it. Maybe
might have to sort of change the xda setting on gprs.
My GPRS is always enabled on safe mode. But still
it cut off after 10mins??? can anyone help here?
After several ROM/Radio upgrades the problem continues the same. I'm using SKYPE quite a lot. Unfortunately if the distance between the router & the QTEK 9090 is more than +-5 meter, the connections breaks up after +- 2 min & people cannot hear me anymore. I can still hear the contacts talking, but also let's say about 30 sec later, the connection breaks completly up. What is actually happening is, that the WiFi blocks. I cannot recontect the QTEK 9090 to the router (through Wifi) unless I do a software reset.
On the other hand I can, fe listen to music watch internetTV at a distance of let's say +100 m without problems.
Can anyone help me with this problem.
Thanx.
I have the same problem with Skype over Wi-Fi. It used to work fine with Radio 1.06, but after upgrading I've always had problems. Btw I have a Qtek 9090 as well... hopefully is not hardware related!
My o2 wapflat ist working fine most times. and i use pushemail trough this also. but sometimes the gprs connection im using 24 hours a day shows that is is connected but no more sync or even internet works. if i try to reconnect i dont even get a connection to gprs. Only a softrest does help.
Can somebody help?
P.s. I did not install the crappy o2 software from ext.rom
Hallo Sebi
Cannot help you much, only report that with Base flat and Cortado Direct Push I experience no such problems. If GPRS signal is lost out of coverage the device automatically reconnects, and the device never shows GPRS running when in fact there is no connection. Maybe there is a GPRS sensitivy setting in the registry, but I can only speculate. Good luck.
I think the problem is comming from phonealarm. i just get the new beta an know the problem is gone.
Hello, since some time now I'm experiencing a wierd wifi connection behavior:
When I connect over wifi to my accesspoint everything goes well. It connects right away.
Also when I open IE and go to any site. It does download and display the site normally. But that is where the problem begins. It does this only for the first request. After that, there is no communication over wifi possible anymore. I cannot click on a link or change to any other website anymore. I cannot download mail, even cannot Ping (with vxUtil).
Other scenario:
I connect, download my email, after it gets done downloading, again.. it does not work anymore, neighter IE, nor download email again.. it always keeps trying to connect but aborts after a minute or so.
To make it work again, I always have to disconnect, and connect again, it then works for another request. Then again disconnect- connect... and so on.
Kinda enoying!!
Another scenario:
vxUtil, make a ping and keep on pinging. Works fine until I interrupt the ping. When I then try to ping again, it only gets timeouts again.
The Wifi connection is well during all of this, no drops no anything. The reception is excellent... it doesn't matter if I'm right next to the AP or a little farther away.
I remember that I didn't have this problem with my original Qtek ROM, after I changed to the Dopod ROM, this appeared somehow. Now I just flashed that MobiWiz custom rom with AKU 2.3, hoping it would solve the problem. ... well, it didn't.
In my wireless Lan I use WEP encription with a 26char HEX key; auth: open (not shared key). Setup is with DHCP and static IP the same... tried both, no difference. I have two Linksys APs with the newest firmware on them. Doesn't work with neighter of them.
Well, I searched a long time for a solution, but didn't really know what to look for, there is many things that come up when I search for "wifi" or "connection" and "problem", so I'm sorry if already someone wrote about this, please just post me the toppic...
Thank you guys very much, hope someone can help me!
My ROM info:
ROM version: 2.15.13.27 WWE
ROM date: 3/9/06
Radio version: 02.30.21
Protocol version: 4.1.13.16
ExtRom version: 2.15 AKU2.3 PDAMobiz Edition
Try to play with the power mode of WiFi. It could help.
Found the Problem
OK, I guess I found the reason for the problem.
As I wrote, I have 2 Access Points, one acting as a Repeater. Well... I guess the Prophet didn't like his Packets to be repeated, might have gotten them twice (from the first and then from the second AP). Anyways, so as soon as I switched off the repeating one, it worked again.
Still... kinda wierd, because my Laptop doesn't have a problem with it.
having just had to set up my new network at home i was reading up on using a second unit as a repeater. It mentiond that you have to tell one of the access points (think it was the main unit) how many hops you have in the system. This is to prevent 'system loops' or something. Sorry im not massive on this sort of thing but sounds like your problem.
Mine is i set the system up, main puter, 3 laptops, xda mini s and xda2i. all worked, added mac filtering all fine, added WPA PSK with TKIP security. Main puter and 3 laptops work fine. Both the XDA's sit there saying network available or connecting. but they never connect.
Pete
Hello People,
I have a question,
I'm having big time problems losing my WIFI connection, after like 15 minutes.
It still says that i have a connection and that's correct, only no Internet connection. the only thing I have to do then is disable WIFI en enable, and then it's fine for 15 minutes (sometimes more, sometimes less).
I flashed original Roms and Cooked Roms, but the problem persists.
If I update the radio, will it also help to improve wifi? or is it for signal fot network improvement only?
Btw.: does somebody have the same problem as me with there Artemis?
It sounds like you have a hardware fault. An upgrade of the Radio will not improve WiFi reception. An upgrade of the Radio should improve the clarity of your calls and also the batery life.

Is there anything I can do? the strange thing is, it will happen always after 10-15 minutes. Sure this is a hardware problem? And also what I find strange is that nobody has this issue with a Artemis, (couldn't find anything). If it was a hardware problem, isn't it so that there must be more users with this problem?

it might be a hardware fault caused by something u did (dropped etc). You should be able to get it fixed for free by the company u bought it from, if its under a year old.
I have exactly same problem since upgrading to official o2 wm6 rom - connection to home router drops after about 10 minutes, but wifi light still flashes on orbit /cannot switch comm manager off without soft restting orbit. Tried hard reset to orbit /restoring default router settings, still same.
I have experienced that problem with my HP RX 3715 and Imate Jam also with FS Loox N560.
WiFi Connection drops after about 15 to 30 minutes.
When I changed my wireless router, the problem disappeared.
I use Belkin 802.11B/G
Using a router ?
I would have a go at updating the firmware on your router, it solved my wireless problems (laptop dropping)
Need help drop me a message

Thanks very much for the reply's, also MN8.
I already have the latest firmware on my router.
I will buy another router to see if the problem disappear.
Thanks..
I had that same anoying problem on linksys access point in office. In home im using edimax, its lose connection too but not that often. I have HTC Artemis. Can someone help me?
btw. 3 laptops use linksys ap in office w/o any problem. Also I dont have any problem with my edimax ap on few laptops. Its only on my HTC Artemis.
I have the same problem.
As you said updating ppc rom or updating the latest router software didn't solve the problem.
What i do is turn off the ppc then turn on again after 2-3 seconds the wifi is working again.
If there is a real solution please share with us....
