Hi everybody!
I've just register to this cool forum but I've been reading the threads for a time now!
I don't have the solution to your Gprs problem sorry, but I cannot connect to the wap over Gprs and I have no error message when I connect to the Gprs.
I'am now using rom 1.12 FR and removed the extended rom.
If someone could help me to fix this problem, it would just be great.
Thanks a lot.
first check if you have set properly connection settings
http://www.mobistar.be/en/service/howto-GSM_Configurator/manual.html
remember that using WAP services on pocket internet explorer you have to use wsp:// instead of http:// at the beginning of every WAP adress

What about WAP sites that begin with http:// ? I cant seem to connect to those, cause when I insert http the explorer reads it as a normal webpage, and its a WAP page

I upgraded to WM2003 in Jeff's fabulous kitchen. Everything works great. My ISP has different access points for wap and www over gprs. It works with WM2002 very well but with WM2003 does not. What could be the possible problem? I guess WM2003 has more problems rather than advantages (if any, of course. I haven't discovered any, except for the character counter in sms message composer). This forced me to downgrade the ROM to Jeff's 3.17, which is perfect in all respects.
They say Pocket Internet Explorer can do WAP since WM2003. Haven't tested it, never use WAP.
wm2003 & WAP
The main problem is that PIE 2002 or 2003 don't understand wml. Yes, I tried with required access point & gateway but it just does not connect. The problem is that I really need to browse some wap info as these pages are not available on www suitable for xda.
Anyway, I am perfectly happy with Jeff's 3.17 ROM. I get WM, I get ezWap. Everything works very well.
One problem, though a little out of place. tdLaunch sometimes makes the Xda crash. It happens, be it in ROM or installed separately.
I think its yr configuration or yr ISP.
Ive been using EzWap and PIE to do wap extensively
on gprs with either PPC2002 or wm2003.

You are right!
Pocket PC phone version WM2003 has more problem than advantages in Pocket PC phone.
but I'm using IPAQ WM2003 no such problems at all!

You may be right about the isp. but they are not in a position to solve my problem. They have never heard of PPC, they don't know the difference in services provided, they don't know what are the configurations. All they know is to send the configuration by sms to the user's mobile phone, which is useless in case of xda.
However, I am sure PIE does not support wml. Can you tell me how do you make it understand wml?
Can you access these pages?

http://wap.ft.com/

Because my PIE can
You should be able to browse any WAP site on the Internet through the Internet connection. However if your operator has both WAP and Internet connections then the WAP one will probably only allow you to browse their own WAP gateway site, and possibly other WAP sites through the WAP gateway.
In Pocket PC you cannot set the Internet Explorer to select which connection you will use. It defaults to the Internet setting. As you must define the WAP proxy using Work Settings, this is of no help to you.
The best solution is to create a new connection settings area, configure both Work And Internet locations to use it, and put all you connections in there. Then manually select Internet or WAP when you want to switch.

Thanks.
I have tried all the options, this one too. It does not work. I found use of EzWAP 2.5 more convenient, as it has it's own proxy/gateway configuration area. It does not depend on gateway config of connection manager. Further, it allows you to choose your nodcm connection.
What puzzles me the most is that EeWAP 2.1 or 2.5 did not work with Jeff's WM2003. It works with Jeff's ROMkitchcn 2002.
Hi
ON my nokia I had wap access to check headlines and football scores. How do I enable the same facility on an XDA ?
You need to run a seperate WAP browser, like EZ WAP. Search the boards here for EZ WAP and you'll find links to places to get it. Once you have it, there's a great WAP config description for T-Mo at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=3675
Hope this helps
I've tried following the steps given in several different threads for configuring this on my XDA but have been unsuccessful. I've been trying to use EZWap to configure it, but it cannot connect. I think its something to do with my network connections on my phone that just arent right. Can anyone walk me through setting up the actual network connection settings for WM2003? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i installed the mms from the O2 uk rom... (from zip posted here somewhere)...
i get mm2 notifications, but i cant download them...
any ideas?
WAP using IE in WM2003
Supposedly IE in WM2003 has support for WAP browsing. However, when I set up a "TZONES" connection and set up the AP to ( wap.voicestream.com ) and the proxy to ( 216.155.165.50:9201 ), and I try to navigate to:
wap.myvoicestream.com
It no longer works. However, if I navigate to any "regular" www page, it comes up just fine. Has anyone else successfully been able to configure their WM2003 ( TMobile PPCPE ) to access their TZones via IE using the WAP connection/Proxy settings ?
I was thinking of installing EzWap 2.5 again, but during the install it said it was going to replace wapdrv.dll and I wasn't going to run the risk of overwriting a necessary file, so I exited the installation of ExWAP.
Anyone gotten this to work ???

Eureka !!! You don't need EzWap or Klondike !!!
<Edited - It was LarryH from Horward Forums who originally helped me out with this...it was his idea to try out a different URL monicker. Thanks again Larry ! >
With LarryH's help, we've discovered that it IS possible to access T-Mobile's TZones pages once you've undergone the upgrade to WM2003 from T-Mobile's SITE.
After you set up your connection to use the WAP accesspoint:
wap.voicestream.com
Under Proxy Settings:
WAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9201
SWAP: 216.155.165.50 port: 9203
You don't have to set the HTTP or SOCKS,
as TMobile doesn't support SOCKS, and the HTTP port ( 80 ) is already open on their gateway server.
To access your TZones homepage, just open IE, and enter:
wsp://wap.myvoicestream.com
apparently entering:
http://wap.myvoicestream.com
will confuse IE in WM2003 for PPC, and
it will say "Unable to find page".
Everyone, enjoy your TZones under WM2003.

but my MSN Messenger don't work
my MSN Messenger still don't work. I have set access point to wap.voicestream.com
do i need to set up something else? or purchase other data plans from tmobile?

I just tried that on my PPC PE and I was able to sign on to MSN Messenger. Are you sure you have the Connection you set up to access the proper proxy address and ports. Make sure you setup the user/password for your msn account properly, because if you type it in wrong, it won't let you log in.
Let me know if you run into any problems.

I have two proxies I should insert in my proxy settings in the connection icon. One to be used when I connect my JAM to PC through bluetooth to be able to use the internet connection I have (10.0.0.1) and the other I have to replace it with my WAP configuration to be able to use WAP over GPRS (192.168.23.50) . Any method you have guys to put them both without each time I want to connect I have to erase the old proxy and insert the new one. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Why do you need second proxy??? You can use your Pocket Internet Explorer over usual GPRS connection to view any WAP resources and it will be cheaper because GPRS traffic usually cheaper than WAP
I see only one reason to use WAP gateway - is to be able to access operator's content pages
Thanks for your reply. I need my ISP proxy since I am able to view any homepage as it is and not in WAP mode so as if I have a GPRS connection but only restricted to Internet explorer. I cannot use for instance the MSN messanger and other internet related applications .
and if I put the 10.2.2.1 proxy and leave the wap proxy 192.168.50.23 and try to browse through internet explorer it gives me an error
Any help would be appreciated.
im on my phone browsing the web and i really need an internet sharing cab for my wing. i had one when i had the omega final rom but i jus downgraded to the touch it 4.1. if you have one could u please post it... thanks a mil!
Has anyone been able to figure out or locate a cab for adding an Internet Sharing? I found few cabs but nothing that works... Please help! Thanks...
Update, Internet Sharing cab working with T-mobile Web proxy!
Never mind.. got it to work.... I was getting an error message in Internet Explorer when trying to use the cab with Proxy hack from T-mobile similar to this:
HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
$MESSAGE$
RequestURI=/
To fix this, look here. All you need to do is enter your proxy settings & port into Internet Explorer or Firefox and you will instanly be able to use the Internet Sharing...

yes i connect with the proxy on a regular basis, you have to set IE to work with the proxy. assuming you have IE7 tools/internet options/connections tab/lan settings and check the box that says "use a proxy server for you lan" once you do that enter the same proxy from you r phone along with the port ( 216.155.165.50 :8080 ) you will now be able to surf with the proxy, just remember that when your home and connect you laptop to your Wlan or whatever you have you have to go back into the settings and uncheck the box "use a proxy server for your lan" because if you dont IE will still be trying to reach the net through the proxy server and you will have no internet, the only draw back is that you will have to check and uncheck every time you switch connections.
now i never use anything other than IE so i dont know what programs can reach the net on the proxy.

Thanks to Duprade - Link to a working cab for Internet Sharing.
If you don't get the icon, look at this thread for individual zip files and neccesary reg entries! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300247
Good luck everyone!
