Anyone know of a way to set a dedicated hardware mute button? I know SPB pocket plus has a mute action, and you can assign that to a hardware button, but is there any other way without installing SPB pocket plus. I basically want to set that voice command (hold) button to mute, as I toggle between mute and unmute alot, and having a button would be easier than sliding the slider up and down.
Thanks in advance.
Why not just pressing and holding the volume slider down to switch to mute?
press and hold the comm button
Would that work with the input from a BT headset as well? For some reason my Cardo scala-500 kills audio as well as mutes when I try to mute.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I want to make it so when I push a button on my headset it will activate MS voice command So I can tell it to make a call or play a song or what not.
I have a jabra 8040 and just have to hold the botton on the headset until I hear a second beep. about 1 sec later voice command turns on and allows you to do just that.
On Leo ( with original last rom) i installed VoiceSpeed Dial , but I can not find a way to start this sw when I press the buttom "call" on my headset BT,
the same problem on my Sony car stereo with Bluetooth, when I press the dedicated button, call the last call number. Any solution for this? Tanks in advange.
Try..... press button on headset, hold it down and wait for two bips in headset.

thanks friend, just like it does not work, if i press button & hold it on headset BT or Car Stereo, no run VoiceSpeed Dail but call the last call number, ( both devices functioned good with all Nokia phone) but if i hold the button "calling" on the Leo VoiceSpeed Dial run and emits "beep" correctly.
Where can I find information on how to handsfree initiate a call from a bluetooth headset? My understanding is that Android 2.2 Froyo supports this. I have my Plantronics 975 headset synced and working, but can't get voice dial to initiate. Pressing the button on the headset just makes a beep, but doesn't do anything on the phone. Pressing the button twice redials the last number, but it did that on my old G1 with Android 1.6.
Is anyone using a Plantronics 975 with a G2? Does voice dialing work for you?
Thanks,
Tauren

No idea about the plantronics. With my headset (Sony DR-BT22), pressing the call button on the headset starts the voice dial app (audio through the headset) and a long-press performs a redial.
I figured it out and feel stupid now. But just in case someone else is having trouble, here's the answer...
* Hold down the main button for 2 seconds and voice dial starts (see http://bit.ly/bO0Gvo)
* Double press the main button and redial starts
* If bluetooth is not connected, single press the main button to connect.
* Not sure what a single press does if the connection is already established.
I never tried a long press because a really long press shuts the headset off. I didn't even think that there might be a "short long press" and a "long long press".
On my Moto H17 BT headset, it seems a single press on the button initiates the voice dialer on my G2, and a "short long press" redials.
