Following the advice in other parts of the forum, I did a hard reset and chose coporate set-up so that the O2 stuff wasn't installed. I searched Google for the GPRS settings and sorted that out but the MMS doesn't work - does anyone have these settings? Thanks.
try doing a search for mms 02
in the networking it forum tons of people ask about
grps and mms settings for all cellphone companies in there
and get answers too
This is the problem i am currently searching for and it sounds like you having the same problem as me....
Aster getting rid of the cursed O2 software your left without ArcSoft MMS Composer being installed... also the Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer and the Acrobat Reader Software...
I have figured out and installed everything except the MMS Composer...
Is there anyway of getting Arcsoft MMS Composer WITHOUT letting the O2 Software install ? I do not wish to buy the software from the developers website as i should legally have a copy with this phone at present...
If this is not possible could one of you great people tell me the name of some other MMS composers (possibly some free ones) as i would like this feature of the phone working soon
Thanks

What device do you have? Is it Pre-WM2003SE? On the 2i and I seem to remember my XDA2 with 2003SE I believe MMS is integrated into the Inbox app? If the last official upgrade from o2 didn't do this, then the cooked ROMs on here had that functionality.

On a PC, you can go to http://wap.oa.yahoo.com, and login to your yahoo account to read your emails, etc.
If I do the same from my XDA2, it says "Unable to connect: Ensure that your modems are present and inserted correctly, and no network card present".
If I try this with any other web site (e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk) it connects and works fine.
Does anyone else get this, and does anyone know a way around it?
Thanks!
On my XDA, http://wap.oa.yahoo.com works fine.
But WAP stinks on a capable device like the XDA or XDAII. Why not use http://www.yahoo.com instead, or set up your Inbox to download your Yahoo headers and/or messages?
can i realy do that?? setup INBOX for yahoooo???
please show me how! i couldnt even set the outlook express on PC to do that!
thanks a million.

You can only do this if you pay extra for POP3 access to Yahoo emails - which I don't want to do as this isn't my primary email account.
Also, going through http://www.yahoo.com means you get all the ads, graphics, etc. Even over a GPRS line, this makes it quite painfull.

I just got a new XDA II and I could access Yahoo without problems. After an involutary hard reset all the O2 stuff got installed (seems it was not installed the first time I used the device), and now I'm having the same problem as you're describing. Has O2 added something "clever" so that if it sees "wap" in the path, it thinks it should use a wap connection? In any case I can't find these settings and delete it. I want it to work as it did before the hard reset! Help!
Try wsp://wap.oa.yahoo.com insted of http://wap.oa.yahoo.com
HTTP = PC
WSP = WAP
8)
cheers
WSP doesn't work either. Probably because that signals even more to the computer that you're trying to establish a WAP connection, which I don't want to do and which isn't set up either. The funny thing is that it worked before the hard reset, and I never had any problems on my old XDA I.
I managed to remove all the O2 stuff from the extended ROM, and after a hard reset, I can now access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail again! Once you access http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail, the path changes to http://wap.oa... and from this point on it complained. Until I removed the O2 stuff. So now I'm happy it works, but I'd still like to know what settings O2 infiltrated to stop it from working. Does anyone have a clue?

I think it have something to do with Connection settings and or Registery settings for Browser ID string (User ID String)
example:
Of youre browser ID is "Mozilla/4.0(compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320)" Than you w'll get a diffrent page if you have something else.
After I changed my Browser ID (to see more free stuff from orange GRPS/Orange World) I cant get the colored page of Yahoo Too.
Can you post here youre Browser ID please?
To see youre browser ID string, Visit http://www.showip.com on youre PPC, and let me know please.
Cheers
I just bought an XDA2i and am having the same problem with the mobile Yahoo site. Since nobody has managed to unlock the extended ROM in XDA2i yet , I cannot remove the O2 stuff that is causing the problem (forcing a different connection for web adresses starting with "wap"). On my XDA2 i could unlock the extended ROM and remove the O2 bits, and this solved the problem. With XDA2i I'm stuck...

I have to say that MS did a very bad job with the vCard part
You can however use different options to send a vCard using 3rd party software.
One is vCard by Sunnysoft, but it's not free unfortunatly.
Another option is to use O2 SMS Plus, that can be found on the forum here.
Hope somebody else has a better solution for this bad MS solution
[edit]
I've just read that AKU3.0 will have the option to send vCards trough SMS
Now we'll just have to wait for AKU3.0 to arive

Hello together,
could you please be so kind to help me. I have a XDA Mini o2. But I want to use another operator. How can I get the o2 Software / Branding / Applications without loosing Windows Mobile away? Thanks for all
kind regards
Eduard
>_> um, I'm not on an O2 operator, and before I modded my old Mini, it worked quite fine with its default O2 software.
Hi, thank you for answering. Generally the main functions work without any problems. But the email client makes a peck of trouble. Thanks
The email client isn't determined by any operator settings - it's user defined (at least that's in my experience). For all other things - MMS, text messages etc, O2 should have included a few other country/operator specific settings inside the autoconfigurator.
I successfully configured mine for Hotmail (although I painfully regretted doing this soon enough, since I had planned to use the device to empty a spam trap, and it was more trouble than it was worth -.-)
Hello,
I'm trying to develop an application for my WM6 powered Hermes device,
but I'm unable to find any Information about sending MMS. I'm using Visual Basic .Net 2005 with the WM6 SDK installed. There is a Namespace for SMS and Email (Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.EmailMessage/SMSMessage), but none for MMS.
Could someone pleeease point me into the right direction? Tried to Google, but there were no useful information given
Thanks in Advance,
FL
i believed that mms is still handled by a 3th party application
it would prob be displayed in the help under the mms setup
if that is still the case it would require .net libs from the 3th party developer
Hello,
thanks for your answer.. Looked into the info page and found that it's using arcsoft mms composer. There is an Application Dev. Kit available from arcsoft, but there are sadly no infos about pricing and/or downloading Does anyone know if there is an alternative to arcsoft which also includes an (free) sdk?
Thanks,
Fl
OK so I am new here, but I am not new to mobile devices at all. In fact I was a Mobility Admin in different forums. So please don't get mad at me for posting here. I have some questions. PLEASE don't play the FLAME the noob game. I swear that I searched far and Wide for my answers but have failed to find them.
So my question: is there anyway to tweak the T-Mobile T-zones Internet?
I can:
Connect to the internet
Download Files
Stream Music (orb)
Stream Video (badly[orb])
Use Google Maps
I can't:
Connect To IM servers, I have tried all of the programs. OZ for T-Mo is the only one that works, but it's horrible.
No YouTube, I can live without this but I hope to get it working.
MIDP can't connect.
Basicly nothing, that doesn't connect from, IE works.
----------------------------------------------------
I have played with the Proxy settings and nothing. I know that with my Treo 650 I could connect through VeriChat, but I can't connect on WM6.
Is there a program out there that can help me fix this?
Again I'm sorry if this is a repost, or an overkill of something, but I want to get this stuff working.
Thanks

I do not have an obvious solution but have also seen plenty of similar comments here from others - not just with T-Mobile either. I am using T-Mobile in the UK and have none of your problems.
I obviously had the original T-Mobile Vario II build (WM5) but now have the Black MAJIK build with WM6 and all has been fine with both. Some people directly accuse T-Mobile of blocking their IM, but I have no issue with it - albeit I use it rarely. Of course it "may" be that T-mobile are indeed blocking some services to 'offenders' (IM is not allowed) but I wonder if their system is that capable.
Obvious questions for you are: what OS are you using? Have you changed ANY comms settings from the original T-Mobile build? Have you tried a hard reset to restore original settings (including the all important T-Mobile extended ROM)?
If you still have the original OS ROM build running then you might try installing the configuration .cab files that are stored on the Extended ROM separately - some apply directly to such device settings. Access to that Extended ROM on the WM5 build is easy and you just need an application such as "HTweakC 2.0" (available here). Of course, and as ever, start with backing-up your device - but you will know that.
I hope this helps.
I have VSWL Rom.
I have setup the internet (GPRS) settins like they are suppose to be.
I believe that it is a fact that T-Mo has blocked ports, and has only left http smtp and pop3 open. So my dilema is why did verichat connect on my Treo 650 and not on my MDA or my 8525.
First we need to know if you are in tmobile usa, uk...????
if you are in tmo usa then you can't
if you have the proxies 216.155.165.50:8080 the most you can use is PIE (pocket internet explorer)
the best thing is to get the blackberry $20 dollar add-on plan and just setup without proxys. wap.voicestream.com and you have full internet access.
I am in the USA, and I have the T-zona 5.99 plan.
I am less than reluctant to close my mind for this not to work, since google maps works. and, as I said, on my Treo 650 using verichat worked perfectly.
I don't know what the difference in the way the Treo 650 connected and the way my 8525 connects.
Perhaps the programs that can connect are ones that ones that connect through port 80 and are proxied to 8080.
I am so lost on this topic though.
too many contractidicting points.
such as streamining works on win but not on palm
IM worked on Palm but on Win.
