Hi all,
Maybe a little late in the game but my T8285 is on it's way. I'm on ATT in Hawai'i so hopefully shouldn't have any problems. Quick question. Did most of you flash your ROM right off the bat or did you use it for a while before doing so?

Best advice I can offer you is get to know your device as it is first. Read up on the wiki and just enjoy your phone. Not everyone flashes a new or cooked rom and most people don't change rom until they find something wrong with it or just fancy the look of another device.
I didn't flash a other rom right away. I just started getting to know my phone first like Fallen Spartan said and learning more about the whole flashing scene. I think I flashed my first rom after about 3 or 4 weeks.
I wanted to enjoy an unspoilt phone for a bit, and it was my first Windows Mobile phone... I lasted about a week
I try and wait until the warranty period is over..... just in case something goes wrong....

Warranty period in different countries vary. Some countries its 3 months, some its 12 months. To wait 12 months can be extremely hard for people
the telstra rom internet setting are locked in and don't work on AT&T so I flashed a custom rom the day I got it. I mean come on, if you gotta flash a rom anyways, might as well make it one of Miri's!
Got my HD yesterday and got it all set up. Playing with it using the stock ROM. Stuck in my SIM and all works no problem after inputting the ATT settings. The only thing that I can't do (which will probably make me flash the ROM) is that Opera browser is locked to Telstra so I can't use Opera unless there is some registry setting or something I can change. Anyone know how to change this? I can use IE though.
Just gonna use it with the stock ROM and find all the quirks that bother me and see if a ROM flash is needed. I'm sure I'll have some questions though and I have been going thru the HD wiki.

P.S. Got my HD thru modernmobile.ca and must say the experience was good. Very responsive to email inquiries.
Just a quick one.
I updated my o2 locked hd2 to 1.48 fw. Is there anyway of reverting back to the stock rom that the hd2 came with? (o2 one complete with o2 splash screen etc)
Or is it the point of no return now?

I would assume you can use the same method you used to upgrade your rom (goldcard?) to downgrade it back to the original rom if you need to.

Yeah did use the goldcard method to upgrade.
Not sure if you can do the same to revert back though.
Can I ask why you want to? Is the newer ROM worse in some areas, or do you just want the O2 branding back?

Well im thinking of sending it back to o2 as im still within my 14 days.
Would need the o2 branding back on it though otherwise i dont think i would get away with sending it back and saying i didnt want it. (or would i get away with it if they noticed and i played dumb )

Hmm. well they would probably not notice.....but then I obviously can't promise that! Was there a particular fault which made you want to try a newer ROM...and you still weren't happy? Or are you just wanting a different handset....

Just want another handset. I have no real complaints with the HD2 but i just havent got the time these days to mess and tweak with the phone to get it how i want it. (got a 6 week baby girl here taking up all my time)
I came from an iphone and i primarily used that for web, media and plenty of texting. I didnt really use the app store that much.
In the above areas the HD2 just doesnt cut it for me. Web, sms and media are just far better on the iphone imo. Everything else about the hd2 is fantastic and im glad i got it to experience winmo but at the end of the day for my needs i'll prob just go back to the iphone or perhaps get an android device!

Is there any way I could do that? Never experienced the SMS problem with my stock 1.43, I find 1.48 has many bugs that on 1.43 I never experienced.
So is there any chance of doing that?

There is but someone would have to post a link to the 1.43 ROM. I am sure it is somewhere...

Problem is many 1.43 are cursed with the same bugs I'm experiencing with 1.48.
My stock 1.43 was flawless, it simply worked as it should.
Damn, why did I upgrade to this ROM

Well the 1.43 roms are available via this thread

I know that wont put my o2 branding back on it. What you reckon? Revert back to 1.43 send it back to o2 and then play dumb if they try and say ive messed with it? Like (to o2 rep) "mine never had a splash screen on startup, so ive no idea why you would accuse me of altering the device"
have to say i`v been toying with the idea of flashing my phone with upgrade using the goldcard method(i`m on tmobile stock 1.43) due to tmobile removing certain apps on the phone, but keep hearing a lot of problems with 1.48. isnt an upgrade supposed to improve things not make things worse??? lol i have absolutely no major issues with the tmobile stock rom. to be honest it runs flawlessly and smoothly. the only issue i`v had is the pinkish colour on camera but with the hotfix its solved. also i havent read alot of problems coming from people on tmobile either. are the guys behind the scenes doing the testing an tweaking/branding at tmobile on top of ther job maybe?????... Mmmmmmmm. obviously ther seems to be certain issues with the phone that are out of tmobiles hands, i just havent heard many tmobile customers complaining about much, the youtube app yeah, but thats about it. anyways think i`l be leaving upgrade for now lol. if something isnt broke, why fix it?
Hi guys
I've been using my phones data for awhile and like i think 3 months ago I rooted my phone and flashed Giant riders froyo rom and updated my hboot to i think 1.27.2007 now ? :S and My 3G's not working !? So I added the rogers apn still didn't work
then went to the rogers official 2.1 rom still didn't work
and now I'm on Cronos GBRider and 3G is still not working!
Anyone can help , I just asked my dad and he said he never cancled my data so I'm expecting this is phone related ?
Did you call Roger's about it? It doesn't sound like a phone issue since it followed you around different ROM's.

No I didn't
I ment maybe it's probably like the hardware it self ?
My brother gets his data :\
I'd still start with calling Rogers and seeing if it's a problem on their end.
Hello! I'm new here. I've been browsing the forums for a couple of months now so i finally decided to make an account and this is my first post .
OK. now my question.
so around probably around 15 minutes ago i picked up my phone and it was working fine.
like 5 minutes ago, i picked up my phone and it was turned off. i figured the battery might have died or something. I go to turn it on, and it won't turn on. i took the battery out twice, and still no luck. After about 5 minutes, my phone decided to turn on by itself.
It works fine and everything, but still, can someone possibly explain to me what just happened? lol. i figured it would be hardware related, but if the information is needed...
My phone is rooted
The rom it currently runs is RoyalThunder 2.1. i flashed it yesterday.
So thanks to anyone that can explain this. like i said, my phone works. but i want to know if this has happened to anyone else.
honestly, i've never heard anything like this before. i have a galaxy s i9000 rooted and it has similar problems, the screen would turn off and i can't turn it on until i pull the battery and reboot.
so, not sure, but glad it still works fine
and by the way, welcome to the XDA forums

and thanks
So I buy this tablet a week ago, everything was going well until an update came in, after that the tablet ran very slow and some aplications wouldn´t open at all, so I went to the store, they check it and got a new one, because the other one aparently was having problems, I have been using this new one for like 2 days, everything was ok, the update came and its the same story, someone else is getting this problem.
thanks

You can get the old firmware from before the update from https://SamMobile.com and flash it with Odin. But you may have to unlock your bootloader first since your downgrading
