Hello, I have read..and.read..and.read of information lately regarding the possibility to upgrade the XdA-II to W20003SE. However, in order to be able to know what versions to upgrade to, and which editions to use, one has to read the forum very thorougly. I found one posting with a major detailed upgrade instruction, but a few days later a new posting appeared pointing out problems with this..and.that..and use radio 1.08 instead of this and that.
My question is. In short, can someone send the zip with the _best_ working SE upgrade for the XDA-II ready to to install without having to do any fiddling ? I have a Qtek2020 with the 1.72 version of the ROMs.
Thank you very much, in advance
Oh, Merry XMas.
Espen!
best 2003SE
is sin 2003SE.
that is 2003SE_AU_v3
you will find it on this forum.
hope this helps.
It´s the English mod of the Chinese ROM, that i have found to be the most stable and complete SE rom sofar.
just downloaded the V3.1 exe and will try to upgrade my 1.72WWE
qtek 2020 later tonight. Hope it works!
Hi,
It depends on the software you use.
The most compatible & stable version is 2.20
I read in the 3.1 of the Sin edition of the AU ZIPfile that it _only_ support the australian 02 edition. Does this mean i cannot use it on my norwegian qtek 2020 using the norwegian Telenor operator ?
What could I use ?
It means that...

It means that it is not tweaked for qtek, and does not contain Norwegian telco operator configuration.
However, you could download some of the tools here and tweak it as per DCS process stated in the forum.
Hi all,
there's a new ROM-Update available for Austrian Magicians aka MDA compact (Version 1.12.01 - btw, the first one that TMA offers).
You can download the 42MB update here directly from T-Mobile Austria (german site).
But take care, the update includes a new bug: After installing the update, it won't be possible to add trustworthy certificates (as used by ActiveSync when remotely to a server).
Greetings,
BGK
This "bug" is no problem -> the tool SDA-UNLOCKER will remove this lock, you can found it on www.mobilejoe.de
Cheers

Hi,
I'm about to buy a TMA MDA compact, and as I'm kind of an update-o-holic, the first thing I'm gonna do is update the hack out of this nice little device
I've read quite a lot of threads in various forums, but still a lot of questions remain.
1.
there are several 'versions' of the ROM update, which one is the "best", or - in other words - which one is the one I should install ?
(or there country differences ?)
2.
before upgrading, I'd like to backup everything that is by default on the new, fresh MDAc. Can I use Sprite to do so ? If yes, are there any special settings that have to be used ?
3.
I'd also like to get rid of the TMA-branding. Do I have to perform the necessary steps right while turning it off the very first time ?
(turn it on and before it installs the software, perform a soft reset)
If so, what do I have to do after the softreset?
(though I'm pretty experienced when it comes to PCs, I'm a noob WRT pocket PCSs...)
I've read several posts about Autoinstaller (1.61).
Do you advice to use this tool, and if yes, is there anything I should know before starting it ?
(I've searched, but couldn't find a real manual for the tool)
4.
as I've understood it so far, the Bigstorage_update is kind of a OS-hack, which allows you to access memory that you can normally not access.
Does that mean that you loose the data that this extended ROM normally contains, or can you only access the free available space that's left (more safe) ?
Is there any noob-compatible step-by-step instruction how to _safely_ update the MDAc to the latest version (incl. all side-effects that might occur).
Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it !
regards
netwolf

What you need is to CID-unlock your phone. You can found here how to:

Good luck,

Hi everyone,
I have a German Vodaphone VPAC 2 and would like to know which rom i could use to update my ROM because I would like to get rid of the continous hidden softresets ;(
Or can I use a wwe rom and use a language pack to have everything back to german language?!
Please do advise
TIA
I would also be interested in ... this ROM is getting old now, and it seems many bugs have been fixed in the QTEK ROMs. There's another forum (in German) here where many people have the vpc2:
http://www.ppc-phones.de/punforum/viewforum.php?id=34&p=1
Cheers,
I have the TMobile german ROM for a week now, works fine so far (though can't change the splash screen somehow). Be aware that it's labeled as "beta", it's 2.8.something, on the FTP.
Noticed on Vodafone DE's website they have an updated firmware download
http://www.vodafone.de/business/support_download/59345_90608.html
This is for version 1.20.162.3
I notice that my device is running 1.20.161.5
Other than (I assume) providing German language support, anyone else know what is this firmware update is worth using for a UK device ?
Steven
There's already a thread on the upgrading forum about the german voda rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279038
I don't know how many scanned the Dutch T-Mobile site lately: Since end of October, the carrier offers an official ROM upgrade for its MDA vario ii branded HTC TyTN (thank you pocketinfo.nl forum for pointing at this).
However, nothing was yet known about any upgrade for Germany.
Playing a little bit with the Dutch link I discovered that a German download site (as well as a UK site) has already been established.
The links are not live yet but the files can be downloaded at:
German (Hermes_WM6_TMD_3.60.111.4.zip, 59.4 MB)
http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMD.aspx
UK http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMUK.aspx
Dutch http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMNL.aspx
I didn't try other countries but other "-TMxx" combinations may work as well. Just give it a try...
However, you will need a valid T-Mobile serial number to download the upgrade.
Have fun
Paquette
So for Polish user of ERA ( TMobile subsidiary)
http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMERA.aspx
And the same: valid serial number to download the upgrade
So you can find it on RS: http://rapidshare.com/files/71101408/Hermes_WM6_ERA_3.60.118.3.zip.html
Thanks for the link , i have just downloaded and will flash it later, will report back on version etc and if it is any good
Text on the link indicates
"...if the Windows Mobile version is already Windows Mobile 6 Standard, you do not need to perform this upgrade..."
I've only ever heard of Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Is there a difference between the two?
I believe the Vario III uses WM6Pro.
Dutch ROM is the same as the last one : 3.60.114.4.
i downloaded and tried it out but it wasnt to good. seemed a lot slower and also didnt get HSDPA gone back to shaps one now and its so much better!
It seems to be that most of the European T-Mobiles has a download site with its own language (besides the already posted links):
Austria: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMA.aspx
Hungary: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMH.aspx
Slovakia: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMSK.aspx
Czech Republic: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMCZ.aspx
Croatia: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMHR.aspx
Macedonia: http://member.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobile/TMobileWM6Step1-TMMK.aspx
(Sorry if I forgot some)
Unfortunately some of them (eg. Czech, Slovak, Hungarian) are still not official releases just tests and will update only SuperCID devices (and maybe not stable enough as it was reported for the Hungarian one).
The download is now also "officially" available in Germany on the T-Mobile homepage. Go to http://www.t-mobile.de/mein-handy/1,13802,19349-_,00.html and you will find the link on the right side.
