Games Folder

Here's what happened...
There was an icon inside my games folder that didnt do anything. Clicking it just gave me an error (forgot the error already). I took the risk and deleted the icon. After a reset, my Games folder was showing up as an ordinary folder (no card icon below it).
Can anyone copy their Games folder and attach to this post??? Or maybe just give me the solution...
~ishtangli
maybe that's a glitch in the system files... why don't you just hard reset your phone? back up your contacts and calendar of course..
Attached is the file you have deleted. This file is the icon for the Games folder (it's actually a shortcut file). You can customize the icon of any folder by creating a file named "icon.lnk" with a content similar below:
1#ceshell.dll,-162
Using a 3rd party File Explorer (e.g. Resco), you will be able to see this file. Using the defaul File Explorer, you will only be able to see this file when you turn on "View All Files" option (tap and hold on any open area of the default File Explorer and this option will be shown on the context menu).
In my experience, this icon appears inside the Games folder when I go through Start -> Programs -> Games when the "View All Files" option is turned on. Try turning it off and this icon file disappears.
Have fun,
YajP
Marc,
It would take too long to restore all my applications and settings if i Hard Reset.
File didnt work. Placed it inside the Games folder and reset my device. Have you had experience restoring any of these icon files?
~ishtangli
Nope, didn't have such problem. I also deleted that icon.lnk in the Games folder before thinking that it was installed wrongfully by some of the 3rd party apps... to my surprise, the Games folder was reduced to an ordinary folder icon when I go to the Programs menu. So what I did was got that file from one of my colleagues, copied it to my device and tried to solve the issue of hiding that icon file. Below are the current screen shots from my pocket pc... hope it helps...
ishtangli, my ROM is still the stock one: 1.66 WWE... so am not sure if the functionality was changed in other ROM upgrades (1.72, WM2003SE) =)
that's a very possible suggestion! i think the functionality wouldnt change in other rom versions.. i'd say go with the RESCO solution
Maybe some kind soul could post their entire games folder...
~ishtangli
Here it is...
still didnt work. hmmm.... seems kinda simple but it just wont work. WM2003SE thing?!?! Whatever it is, im not hard resetting my device just to get some damn icon back. Thanks guys! If you find any solution, post it here aite...

Games Icon
Try this.
Download, unzip and copy the icon.lnk file within to the /Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Games folder.
It is a shortcut to target the shell *.dll file that contains the icon that is displayed for the games folder: shellres.dll,-8229
So that must be the difference, the link to the icon file...
from
1#ceshell.dll,-162 (ROM1.66)
to
shellres.dll,-8229 (WM2003SE)...
Yeah

Uninstall Panel Application?

I never use any panels except SPB Mobile Shell and I see that panelmanager takes up quite a lot of system resources, so I'd like to remove it entirely and just use the full version of Mobile Shell Instead.
Is it possible to get rid of the panel app without installing a new ROM, and if so, how do I do it?
You could stop it starting by removing panelmanager from the start-up folder (in Windows folder), then start it manually if you want it.

Actually, I've wondered the same, and removing the shortcut to "PanelManager.exe /boot" from the \Windows\StartUp folder is just a temporary fix because as soon as you do start it manually, it will re-create the link in \Windows\StartUp.
I've made a mistake with this - I removed both panelmanager.exe and another file relating to panels (I think it had 'default' in the name) from the startup folder and now I want to use panelmanager again, but the tweak to load a panel automatically at startup won't work anymore. Seems I need that file back.
Would anyone be able to send me a copy or to post it?
Sorry, but I dont remembet where the credits go for this file. just move it to
/Program Files/Panel Manager/PanelManager.exe
Thanks, but that's not it.
There should be two files relating to panelmanager in your startup folder.
One of them is panelmanager, which I have, it's the other one that I want.

Making a theme?

So I'm new to all of this. I bought a touch diamond with Sprint just last week and stumbled upon this site for themes and apps. It seems to be a very cool site for customization, but i've been wondering where should i start if i want to make my own themes? I got CFC and Manila editor. Are there tutorials or manuals on using those programs? And is there a way to extract the preinstalled theme that came with my phone so i can modify it? Thanks for any help.

To extract your phone's TF3D files
To extract your phone's TF3D theme, connect it to your computer using Activesync (XP) or WMDC (Vista) and click on "Explore Files". While exploring your devices files, navigate to the Windows folder of your cell phone then sort the files by type. Look for a collection of files that end in "manila" (there should be ALOT). Copy EVERY file that ends with .manila from your device to a folder on your computer (give it a couple minute as there are many files to copy).
To copy manila files to a manila editor
Using either Manila Editor of CFC GUI (i personally think CFC GUI is much easier to use because it gives me less errors), click on "File" and "Select Folder" to navigate to the folder where you copied the manila files on your computer. Select the folder and the files will be loaded into the program
To make your own theme
Once you have copied the manila files and loaded them into either Manila Editor or CFC GUI, the next step is to replace some of the icons with the ones you want for your theme. In CFC GUI (I havent used Manila Editor and dont remember the buttons for this so I cant instruct how to use it), click on any of the files and you will get a preview of it. If you would like to SAVE that icon in a png format to edit (with Photoshop/Gimp etc.) click on "SAVE AS" and choose the directory in which you would like to save it. To replace a manila file with your own, click on the file then select "REPLACE WITH" and choose your file (NOTE: The file you choose absolutely MUST be the same size as the original. If the original file is 128x128, the file you replace it with must also be 128x128).
Thanks jrodi. Im thinkin of making one myself too. But I wasnt sure if the icon size has to be the same as original.

There are multiple ways to install a theme to your device but ill go through the easiest and quickest method using Total Commander
1) Copy the manila files that you changed to a new folder on your phone (Give this folder the name of your theme). Turn off the TF3D plugin (Settings/Today/Items/ Uncheck Tf3d). Then use Total Commander to find the new folder and copy all of the files in the folder to the Windows directoty of your device. If you get a prompt, select "Overwrite All" and give it a minute to replace the files. Soft reset your device and youre done
I was just looking through the windows folder of my diamond but there are no files ending in manila, is it because its the sprint version or something?

HELP,HELP,HELP:Pro2 folder disappeared after rename the folder(add a dot)

The most weird thing i ever encountered today with my HTC Pro2.
I renamed the folder "Beauties" to "Beauties." with Resco File explorer 2008 (note there is a dot after Beauties).
The Original path is" Storage card/Pictures/Personal pictures/secret/Beauties".
After existing Resco Explorer,I went back to see the folder again, jesus christ, the folder has gone! just disappeared without a trace.
I tried all means, soft reset,Resco Explorer, show all the files and folders, Resco photo viewer, connected with PC etc etc,all of them cannot find this "Beauties." folder.
Inside this Beauties folder, there are many pictures that I collected over years,no no I dont want to lose them.
Is this bug?
Am I being cursed? (lots of porn pictures in this folder as well)
How to get my folder back??? please help, help, help!!!!!!!!!
If there is a way to get the folder back, maybe we will have a best way to enscrypt folders?
Why don't you sync with your computer and use the MS ActiveSync to explore your phone? It is much easier on the eyes to look for a file on your computer screen than on your phone.

thanks for suggestion,As I said,I tried all means, including your suggestion. Got nothing.
no idea what could have happened.
folders with a period show up fine on my tp2, both in explorer and commander, never used resco though.
ne how, before you do anything else, do the following
remove the sd card,
plug it into a pc,
run a data recovery program on it.
tried everything,no cure for it.
My conclusion is that after you add period(dot) at the end of the name of the folder, this folder is deleted forever.
A bloody lesson.
Bye bye pictures,bye bye ladies.
Hmm . Files may be gone..
but I'd try another file explorer app if I was you
Total Commander --> http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm
You sure you renamed it xxxxx. and it took? Perhaps you did a typo (accidentally touch the touchscreen thereafter and it's called something else your not expecting?)
this just happened to me today using resco file explorer!!! dot on the end of a folder bam!!! all folder is gone!
bring it back
if you ever do this again press ctrl+z to get back the folder, it happened with me so being a photoshop freak instantly went for the keys and thankfully got the folder back with the old name, still cant understand what's happens when you put a dot (.) at the end of a folder name.
Ps. this will only work for a few mins after the rename before any other changes are made after which it is useless

Problem with HTC Touch Diamond2 Registry

Hi guys
While looking through my registry using Total Commander, my phone had a little fit and decided to rename a folder. I didn't see what the folder was called before my phone called it ,, and then crashed.
Now nothing is working properly, such as Comm Manager or my signal, I assume because they are pointing to the folder that has been renamed, and which needs to be changed back to what it should be called.
I would attach 2 pics of the problem - the first of the parent folder and where it sits in the registry, the second of the folders that appear in the problem folder - but as a new user I can't, so hopefully I can PM these?
Does anyone have any idea what the folders in \\\registry\HKLM should be called so I can change it back to what it should be? All I know is that it starts with a letter around m-p.
I really don't want to have to hard reset.
Thanks in advance for your help!
You have;
MUI, contains 2 keys for SysLang
nls, contains subfolder Overrides
Platform, contains 2 keys for Provxml
I've got the MUI folder already, but thanks for replying
What about nls and Platform?
You said m-p, right?
I have those as well. I assume it's m-p due to what folders I saw before it crashed. I guess it could be a folder around that area though
Cheers for your help
I gave in - hard reset it was!
