solved how to wirelessly connect to a wired network:)

ok here's the problem
you want to connect to a wired network or even simply a single pc connecting to the net on a broadband or dialup connection.
if there was a wireless router then it wouldnt be a problem. your pda would connect to the wireless network and the wireless router would give your pda an address and everything would work.
without the wireless router you don't get allocated an ip address.
well problem solved www.nat32.com has a program called nat32e which you can get a demo version of (works for an hour before needing to be restarted)
essentially this is a nat router which runs on any pc running windows
you need a wireless card in addition to its ethernet connection to the net.
I did this with 2 wireless cards so in theory it could be used to extend the effective range of an existing wireless network too
installation is simple but basically you give the wireless card i used a belkin usb 54g dongle type on channel 6 a fixed address and tell it to connect to an adhoc network called "whatever"
you add a network packet driver, nat32 holds your hand installing this,
then the pc needs a reboot.
first time you run nat32 it runs through the configuration you tell it what card connects to the internet and which card connects to your private net
(that is your adhoc wireless network) it sets things up
scan for a network on your pda tell it to look for adhoc networks connect to "whatever" and tell it when it asks, it connects to work.
you should then have wireless access to the net.
if your doing this with two wireless cards make sure you have seperate channels set up for your infrastructure network and your adhoc network.
the belkin 54g usb wireless dongle costs about 25 from staples or 30 from pc world (both are local for me)
the host pc will run fine without any problems with nat32 running or not
no proxys need configuring a registered verion of nat32 costs from
$25 but this gets you registered for just one pc and really you want it so you can roam with a usb wireless card in your pocket and your pda.
I think adhoc wireless networking works for up to 30 wireless points.
i did it with a pda, mdaIII and a laptop.
basically like ics but with less problems
I think you can do this with bluetooth as well but that really isn't fun
hope this is useful sorry its so rough but i have to get to work
Think you may be on the trail of a problem that I am stuck on at the moment . I have the XDA11i and want to connect it via blue tooth to a blue tooth modem connected in turn to to a BT wall socket ( in that way I can surf for 1p per min !!!) no matter what I seem to do whilst the PDA will recognise the Modem as a serial modem ( and form a secure link ) it wont talk to it and get it to dial up . Zoom ( Hayes ) are wondering if 02 have disabled the element in blue tooth that lets this work ? Any thoughts . with the above I dont need to lug my lap top round with me .

how to connect to internet(on windows xp pc) using gprs(from prophet) via bluetooth

hey all.
thx 4 all the help, advice n guides here.
i have a htc prophet n a windows xp laptop. heard that u can use gprs via bluetooth to connect to internet on pc.howd u do that.plz outline.
You're probably confused... You have to establish an activesync connection by bluetooth and then you'll have access to the web... Just like using the cable but slower...
and how do u setup the active bluetooth connection?
You just have to activate the 'modem link' on the PPC. In Vista at least, all I do is create a new modem connection using the bluetooth modem on the PPC and dial *99#. Pretty simple....
In some ROMs there is an Internet Sharing Option....just activate it, select Bluetooth PAN & connect to the device from PC
could some1 plz outline the steps for setting up the connection, coz all i hear is 'murmuring' ..plz,am still new to all this ppc stuff
Look at the Wiki - start at here's a hint: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_USBModem
Hello friends!
I spent about 2 days on my phone wondering and trying to get internet connection on my Prophet...So I did it!It's like this:
When you connect your Prophet via USB it will show you new connection....
Go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections and than click on left side "Set up a home or a small office Network"...So when you finish the wizard, restart your computer (do not disconnect Prophet) and it will work...It was the only way for me to get Internet Connection...I hope I helped someone just like others helped me...Greetings!
can i use GPRS surf the internet with laptop(not with the phone), is there any setting in order to surf the web? thanks!
I think It's not worth it...In Slovenia, where I live,GPRS is at least 10times more expencive than tipycal cable NET...Some of my friends tryed to connect laptop to NET by smartphone, but the speed in really low and also phone bill was shocking...So get standard internet...Greetings!

WIFI Access through Laptop

Hi,
need some help here. Want to know how am i going to access internet with PDA through wireless laptop... First experience: When i connect my laptop with LAN cable to home modem/router (wired) and USB cradled it to my PDA, my PDA (Dopod 838 pro WM6 Schap 4.22 ROM) surfs internet brilliantly. Second: when i use my wifi through my laptop (same home wireless modem/router) and USB cradled it with my PDA and try to surf internet with my PDA, the connection between my laptop and router seems to be lost. Then i disconnected my PDA and laptop, the wireless connection between laptop and router lost forever. need to switch on and off again to connect it. My router: WPA /TKIP secured with no MAC filtered, All auto detect for IP, DNS. Laptop also has been tick for Internet connection sharing.
Pliz help newbie here, cos i've been trying to solve these by trial and error for a few days already and also search in this forum but cant find any solutions. if someone happens to know where the link of this solution please guide me. thank you in advance.

Wi-Fi on Tattoo

I want to share my cable net at work to my Tattoo via USB Adapter TP Link TL-WN321G - tp-link.com/products/productDetails.asp?pmodel=TL-WN321G
but there is a problem:
I switched USB Adapter to AP Mode and turn-on Internet Sharing Connection on my Cable connection adapter, signal on Tattoo is excellent and it successfully connect to my network but internet it's not working.
Security on USB adapter is set like this:
dodaj.rs/f/3b/QZ/6Uz55f7/sec.jpg
I tried without security on, but net is still not working.
Is it possible that there is some incompatibility with these two devices ( TP Link TL-WN321G & HTC Tattoo ) ??
At home i have DSL and Pirreli modem/router and when i turn on wireless on modem/router net is working on tattoo just fine... I tried to install this problematic USB adapter at home but still no luck, signal is excelent on tattoo but net is not working...
this is not a security problem.... you need to do one of these things:
- manual set IP, subnet, DNS and gateway on tattoo
or
- set your PC to act as local DHCP
second is more practical, because you will probablu use your tattoo on other networks with diferent settings. Find sharing optoins in properties of network adapter where you plug cable from modem...
About that second option: LAN Adapter have manualy set the IP adress and DNS server to:
dodaj.rs/f/2K/tW/1vaqHz6F/lan.jpg
because that is behind the cable router and these setting I can't change...
of course, and you don't need to change... on advanced tab on LAN adapter properties you have "internet connection sharing" options, enable it. you will probably get warning about IP changing, but that affect WiFi adapter settings not LAN adapter
Before i posted this thread I tried everything... and ofc. that ICS on LAN adapter is enebled but net on tatto won't work... I wrote this in first post...
sorry...
did you try to bridge your LAN and WiFi adapter? select both, right click, Bridge....
than you set your current LAN settings on new bridge connection...
this question is more about your home network settings...

AGAIN-How to connect HD2 device to WinXP via Ad Hoc to Internet?!

Hello
I have some problem and I need your help.
PC WinXp is connected to Internet via cable modem.
Now I want to make access to Internet via Wi-Fi (AD-HOC) from PC for HD2 device.
I manage to connect and browse Internet with other laptop via PC connected to cable modem – internet. HD2 is showing connected to SSID but Internet doesn’t work.
Internet access via ActiveSync and USB cable is working perfectly but via Wi-Fi doesn’t
Further is for HD2 Android..I really want to access internet via AD-HOC.
After many hours browsing various forums I couldn’t find any good working solution.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Regards and Best wishes!

is there anyone know this??
I've never seen a pc/laptop that transmits wifi. Seen ones that can receive it.

Well wireless adapters have to both send and receive so pretty much all computers with a wireless adapter can transmit.
Don't quite understand the question though, are you trying to set up your pc as an access point so you can access the internet on your hd2 by it going through your pc?
