Inegrating WiFi SDIO card inside Magician?

Did anyone experiment with integrating a wi-fi SDIO card INSIDE the Magician? I am curious to know if there is enough space inside the case to solder in the internals of the Sandisk WiFi card.
Would also be interesting to know if it is possible to integrate the Sandisk 256 meg wifi card but leave out the Mem and wire it back to the SDIO pins so that the card slot could still be used to plug in a 1g-2g card and still enjoy built-in wifi...
Thought I ask it here, perhaps someone heard something. In case I put a bug in anyone's ear, a reminder that experimenting with something like this will void the warranty... so at your own risk But if you decided to do it, let me know
I think that's impossible because there is almost no space inside the magician. Moreover, such modification will mostly disable the fuction of the SDIO slot when you enable the sdio wifi card, I blieve it is pointless to do so.
Why don't buy a blue angel or wait for the next generation of magician if you really need wifi but do not want to use an external wifi sd card.
Sorry for jumping in here . ..
Is the Magican Qtek s100 support the 256mb WiFi SD card.. ?

Dear Joachim
Unfortunately, due to lack of Custom Bus Driver on your device (MOST HTC DEVICES), the unit will not support this card. We hope that your device manufacturer will soon come up with a fix on this issue.
We appologize for any inconviniences this may have caused you. We recommend that you use the SD WIFI CARD with no memory instead.
Kind Regards,

improve sandisk sdio wifi card performance

i got a sandisk sdio wifi card two weeks ago, for my brand new tsm500 (same as xdaII) and at first was very disappointed as card was very slow. Supposing was due to some special configuration of my home wireless network, i tried all the tips i know about, with no results at all. Took a look on the net and found out that most of users of this card got the same problem. but found the solution, too, on a spanish forum: uninstall sandisk drivers and install the ones from www.socketcom.com, its sdio wifi card has the same chipset. new drivers makes card much faster, has got a more friendly desing and its configuration is very easy. just try it and post the results.

Sandisk 256MB + Wifi and MDA Compact
These drivers don't work with Sandisk 256MB + Wifi and MDA Compact. I don't know witch devices doesn't work but I think it's the Sandisk 256MB + Wifi.
Do the Sockets drivers work with the standard SD WI-FI (the one without the ram) and the MDA Compact IMATE Jam?
These drivers work fine for me, using a standard Sandisk Wifi card (without extra RAM) on a XDA2
Is that the low voltage sandisk card?

Yes, it will work. SanDisk only came out with 2 SDIO WiFi devices, the first one having no storage, and the second on with 256MB of storage. SO if your card is the one without storage, it will definitely work.

So the problem is only the memory chip?
Sandisk Wifi card without it is compatible?
Thank's a lot.
Hi..
yeah well not really because i think that people can use the memory but not the wifi it require some special driver to use both things
and xda's dont have that driver and cant have it installed i think
yeah the non mem sandisk is fine and so i sockets or what ever the other company who use the same chip is called
SANDISK and SPECTEC .... compatibility

in my old times ;-PP I have been using sandisk SDIO WLAN card with XDA II and it was working for me, my friends have also reported succesfull operation withy sandisk card ....
I have not tried combo from sandisk (wlan + memory) at that time it was too expensive
you can also try SPECTEC WLAN (card has been reported to work on MDA mini etc.) card that is recently out to the market, it is much shorter and cheaper as compared to Sandisk .... for photos and simple comparison here it the link, although it is in my mother tongue .... just look for the pictures ;-)

i am running the spectec sdw-820 since almost two weeks and it runs flawlessly even under buzzmobile 2005 with the current driver release 1.24.2 the only contra is that only very few network tools/scanner run under buzzmobile 2005.
handling and using is very easy. i am excited about that small sized wifi-card.

wlan card with memory?

Hi!
Does anyone know if there is a wlan-card with some storagememory included that is compatible with the magician?
Been looking around but still no luck.
Look for Sandisk Wifi-SD-cards. I have one with 256mb storage. It works perfectly!

No, it is not works perfectly..... Works sometimes, and not always!
It is BAD, since the software/driver for Sandisk Wifi-SD card with 256mb storage is not support WM2003SE. It is only support WM2003 (without SE). Most of O2 XDA II mini is WM2003SE (IMO, there is old magician unit running on WM2003 (without SE)).
VERY BAD because Sandisk never and have never update the software/driver to support WM2003SE!!! I learn this when I asked their customer support about software/driver for WM2003SE, and they simply say "check this compatibility chart, WM2003SE is not supported!".
Shame on you Sandisk!!!
Regards,
Arto.
I had but after 4 months it gave out on me,
Sandisk told me it had to do with the memory on it,
I now have a new one without the memory and no problems till now.
But I am "glad" that more people having problems with it.(just so I know I aint the only one)
My advice buy a 1gig card and a normal WiFi.

also woning a Sandisk 256MB + WiFi
works perfectly !!!

Support for mini SDHC

Does anyone know whether or not an 02 XDA Atom Exec will work with a 4gb mini SD (either from Sandisk or Transcend)? Would a firmware update solve the problem>? If not what options do i have
thks
i also have the same question.
I have the same question. I contacted O2 about the mini SDHC issue, but they are very vague with their answer (below - dated 16th July 2007)
"Thank you for contacting O2 Asia Technical Support.
With reference to the query that you have made, the Xda Atom has been tested with memory cards with a capacity of 2GB. By using a memory card with a higher capacity such as what you have mentioned, 4GB, may possibly cause some software conflict. Thus it may compromise the functioning of your device.
We hope this information is useful. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Judith Taan

If anyone is using a miniSDHC card on the atom, i will be glad to know which one. Also, is there any upgrade of software / firmware than can make this possible...
I have a miniSDHC card, Trascend brand. Won't read at all on the Atom. So don't get your hopes up. <_<
Try this drivers from HTC ATHENA for SDHC support on Atom.
Note, that it was not fully tested...

not SDHC but 4 gb works with atom
hi there,
I have an atom and it works with a 4 gb Topram minisd just fine, it's not no SDHC, and not sure if this answers your question. you can get this for like 40 bucks on e**y.

that's good news - incidentally, i went for the 2 gb card before i read your post. well, i'll have to upgrade sometime, i guess.

I bought O2 Atom Life just a week before. The same day I bought I did logged in to get WM6 upgrade and within 3 hours of purchase my device was on WM6.
When I downloaded the ROM after Registering and entering my IMEI the download page came and there was clearly mentioned that after WM^ upgrade the device will be able to use miniSDHC card but the capacity was not mentioned. BUT IT IS QUIET CLEARLY CONFIRMED THAT WM6 CAN READ miniSDHC CARD WHICH CAN BE ANYTHING ABOVE 2GB.
But its true that the device may start to slowdown, as well as the count of stored files increases to huge number. This is not tested by me but when I used 2gb card on MotoMing with more than 1000 files, the device started slowing down, though it was linux based. And we all know how windows behaves
???
I'm still confused Does atom support 4 GB mini shhc?

Device Atom life

I am unable to download Athena_sdhc.rar anyone can re-upload on rapidshare please
I guess if it works for Atom, it also works for HP rw 6828 (with "helloWorld" WM6.1 Rom fro this forum)
Do you know if it works with a micro SD 8GB or higher with a mini SD adapter ?
Some people report that 8GB works.
I use a 2GB from "integral" without problem.
I tried with a 4GB micro SD Kingston with mini-SD adapter, and it seemed to work.
Any slowdown when a lot of files are on the SD card ?
Did someone tried this link
I purchased an second hand Atom Life with WM6.0 but it would not read a SDHC 4GB card until the attacehd program was installed. But i soon found that the standard ROM sucks and then loaded a WM6.1 from Medkid and it works like a dream!!....that is everything good and SDHC support for my 4GB card is built in. Otherwise here is the SDHC driver for WM.
