Can some one please tell me how I can unlock my T-Mobile MDA Compact?
The site imei-check.co.uk says that it will
 Cost £20
 Take upto 48h
 AND they require photo ID
So basicaly my driving licence with my address on it.
not something I am willing to send to some unknown people.
I have used the utility I got from the site, to get the unlocking information.
it looks encrypted - does anyone know how to extract the unlocking code from it?
Thanks in advance!
I'd be very wary of giving people my full address, as well as my credit card details... especially when their website uses BLINK tags. Avoid.
Hello!
They are reliable. It´s a seious company! They have alot of happy customers.
Björn
That may be so, but I still do not want to send anybody a scan of my driving licence.
and, I am sure a free solution must exist!
I am quite surprised that no one has posted it. (or am I looking in the wrong places?)

Free soultion would be contacting your vendor (o2, t-mobile, ...), from where you get your phone and ask them after the unlocking code....
Stefan
I got the unit second hand, and anyway the "vendor" in UK charges customers for unlock code.
There are plenty of FREE solutions available, however, they do not seem to work on my model
I'm from Poland, and I can't register @ PayPal... what should I do?
This is why I Like forums
You beg for help, some people say they have the same problem, others advise you to do what you do not want to do, and then the thread dies... without the solution :?
if its a second hand device and you dont have paypal find a friend that has and see if they can help, if you are unwllling to send photo id's they just go to your carrier and wait on them to get back to you with the details..... it doesnt get any simplier than that
I did not by the phone from a person I know personally.
If I were to do so, I would request that hypothetical person to get the unlocking code from T-mobile. Alas, that was not the case, and I am stuck with a phone that I cannot use.
I know that a software solution is available, I have seen it working, the most difficult part of the procedure is over, all that is left, is to decrypt the file produced by HTC PocketPC Phone Edition simlock remote unlocker. (probably with the password “we_took_you_for_the_ride_ha_ha”) and unlocking code gets calculated.
So once again, the software solution IS available.
Why must I search for friends willing to expose their ID’s on my behalf?
I have nothing to hide, in fact, I run a business, and my name can be checked on the http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk/ but I do not send copies of my documents to people who, as the Chinese gentlemen rightfully points out, use BLINKing text on their webpage
AND whose “business” address is

Hi there,
I'm the Director of the IMEI-CHECK (brand of MIGsofT LTD UK --check us with company house too please), and we ask for the ID JUST to check that you are the real OWNER of the paypal account. Buying via paypal, we already have you details (NAME + ADDRESS) and the ID it will JUST confirm IT, THAT'S all.
Also MIGsofT Ltd signed the DATA PROTECTION ACT (please feel free in checking that too) so all your data are safe with us, and the address you posted is the correct one (please feel free to mail us some nice post cards, and if you want to visit our office please make an appointment first!).
We had to introduce this protection to avoid people buying with hijacked accounts, because two weeks ago we caught one of the big scammers/phishers and now police is investigating this and paypal and eBay need (a much to long) time to investigate.
So to protect ourselves we had to install this extra protection.
The seller is not getting any money if was used by hijacked paypal accounts. Even worse we have to pay GBP7 / reversed transaction...
To keep this service online we request something which proves identity of the paypal account holder. So the hijacker (which sold for 15GBP on eBay) will not have a chance anymore. We have to continue until police arrested this guy (full address and name are known)
Also the blinking text is really needed since 99% of customers will not read what not blink (we tried with red and bold and nobody read it so we had to do something)
what about users, that can't register to PayPal?
noone will help me
In the end, I paid £30 to a friend of mine who does unlocking as hobby.
I sent him the file produced by the HTC unlocking application, and he texted me the unlocking code. 8)
I am now a happy owner of a MDA compact; everything works the way I want, except voice dialling. But that is another issue altogether.
P.S. to the director of the IMEI unlocking company:
The address looks like residential to me…

Hallo
I want to unlock my mda compact
Has anyone experience with that issue.
On Internet I found these sites, which offer a simlock remove service by
generating a code.
What I am interested in, are this trustworthy services, because the payment of most of them is with credit card, and some of them wants to sent them a photographic id (like driver license, ..)
http://www.unlockthatmobile.com

Or does anyone know a method to unlock mda compact (magician) for free ?
thanks
Peter
Most people have been using: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/
Thanks
Have anyone else expierence with one of the services ?
Perhaps everyone could post its experience on simlock remove services.
Perhaps with infos on
How long did you wait until you got the code ?
How complicated ?
What about payment.
Do you know any other service
I used this site http://www.imei-check.co.uk/
My phone arrived today, locked to T-Mobile.
I used http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ and within a few minutes I had the unlock code and it worked first time. Perfect.
Hallo
I tried this service imei-check too some weeks ago
I went to paypal sent them my money by credit card.
After one hour I got a mail to sent them a photoid
At that moment there was nothing on imei-check homepage like today, no red blinking info to sent them a copy of your driver license.
I don't like to sent such a document, because I don't know what they do with that and perhaps they also get the credit card info from paypal.
After some mails, imei-check told me they need this info because of frauds, that useed faked paypal account. I asked for other payment options.
Finally they chanceled the paypal and I got my money back.
Have you had to sent them such a photo id.
You wrote you got it in few minutes
What you have done to get this so fast.
At the homepage they wrote it coult last 48h
Thanks for your reply
Peter
I made payment, scanned in a copy of my passport and emailed it to them. Within 1 min I had a mail back with my details.
I also used the imei-check service. I was pretty drunk,
and had troubles to make a decent pic of any document.
I payed with paypal, and minutes later I had the software,
and unlocked my MDA Compact... They had my money, I had my
MDA unlocked, so that must be enough I think. Great service...

i haven't looked, but i think with the magician, the locking mechanism works the same way is it did for the xda2, just a different at%security string.
some one needs to have a look at the radio rom, and figure it out.

Here's a note from Customer Services I received today.
Hello xxxxxx (name removed to protect privacy)
Thanks for your email about the ROM upgrade for the MDA Compact.
I've checked with our technical department, and we don't have a date scheduled for an upgrade yet. The reason is that we're looking at offering the Blackberry service on the MDA Compact, and if this is successful both upgrades will go ahead at the same time.
The best thing to do in the meantime is to keep checking our website, and as soon as any more information is available, it'll be on there.
Thanks again for your email, and I hope the information I've given you is helpful.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this email, or contact us from our website.
Kind regards
xxxxxxxx (name removed to protect privacy)

HIE GUYS AV JUST COME ACROSS THIS INTERESTING PIECE OF SOFTWARE WELL ITS NOT REALLY SOFTWARE BUT RATHER IT RUNS VIA THE MOBILE PHONE BROWSER I JUST WENT TO http://mjoy.com ON MY COMPUTER AND I PUT MY PHONE NUMBER AND GOT A LINK TO MY UK MOBILE NUMBER INSTANTLY AND AFTER PLAYING AROUND WITH IT MANAGED TO TEXT FOR FREE TO MOBILE NUMBERS HERE IN THE UK AS WELL AS TEXTING MY GIRL FRIEND IN AFRICA ON SAFARI SO IT APPEARES TO WORK AND CREDIT GOES TO fbifbi .so i just thought i would share this with you guys and as always try this at your own risk and i am not afiliated in any way whatsoever with the company but just thought i would share this i got this from the post below over at the development and hacking forum and if any of you guys know of such similar services please share because international texting is very expensive from the UK thanks
Hey Rhapsody,
Your software is great, been using it for a while now
Anyway, I wanted to interest you with a free (based on ads) sending SMS service. It's really good, works worldwide, and has a daily limit of 100msges if I remember well.
Maybe the support could be added to your app?
http://mjoy.com

efbiaye
so i just thought i would share this with you guys and as always try this at your own risk and i am not afiliated in any way whatsoever with the company above
is this for real or an advert?
it works awesome!thanks
This is pretty cool. Does any one know of any software that will do the same.
Yes, looks nice, but you really have to ask yourself what's the privacy and advertising policy of mjoy. I'm especially worried about possible SMS spam coming to me and my friends from mjoy or it's affiliates. I've been reading their Terms of usage and here's an interesting paragraph:
"mjoy may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating how many people in a network like specific offerings, events, cultural offers, such as music, games, movies, etc. and personalizing advertisements and promotions so that we can provide you mjoy. We do our best to offer you a service that is suited to your needs. As advertising is an integral part of our funding and of our allowing you to use our Site and Services, we try to keep the advertising presented to you as close to your presumed interests as possible. If you state your consumer or other preferences explicitly within your profile, we have a much better chance to provide you the information that has a maximum of relevance for you. We do not hand out details about you individually to anyone, however.
We may use information about you that we collect from other sources, including but not limited to newspapers and Internet sources such as blogs, instant messaging services, mjoy Platform developers and other users of mjoy, to supplement your profile. We will allow you to specify that you don't want this to be done or to take other actions that limit the connection of this information to your profile."

Cuz your number just got spammed !
I've used it 2 or 3 times but haven't received one spam sms.
The only thing that sucks is the limitation of the Message because in each sms there is a link to the Message on the HP where you can read the full massage. Only the beginning of the message is in the sms.
Anybody had a phone bill after using this sort of service?
I wouldn't be surprised if this sort of scheme means that certain messages end up costing money, in the same way that premium pay-per-message services already exist in other ways.

Here in the UK, we have premium-rate SMS services. To sign up, you send an SMS to a specific number and after that they send you the information you've requested via SMS. Each SMS they send costs you money.
To enable such a service requires no special software. All you need to do is give the provider permission to send you these expensive SMS messages by giving them an SMS with your number in.
So, I can imagine the scenario with mjoy: you type your mobile number into the mjoy website to register for some sort of 'free' service but without realising you also accept that they will charge you for certain other services. These charges will appear in your mobile phone bill along with your other network costs, just like the premium SMS service I described above.
I don't know how likely this is, nor what service mjoy is offering. I haven't visited their site, so apologies if I've got the whole thing wrong.
But you get nothing for free in this world and companies like mjoy will exist to get revenue from subscribers, either by directly charging for the service or by selling space to advertisers.
Perhaps the only advertising is on their website as you visit to collect a message and it will cost you nothing directly. But it would be somewhat naive to assume this without checking, especially since a mechanism already exists for providers of premium-rate services to charge subscribers through the operator's normal billing systems.

Well you are not subscribing to any service when you register, there is advertising on their web site and you can do a simple search in Google to see that no one else had problem with this service...next time research more

So, how is this free SMS if the other end has to log online to see the entire message???
I can as well send an email over GPRS to someone, and if they have internet they can just check their email. Wow, free text!

Exactly this type of service just cost me Mrs £6, re received a text message asking her to reply to receive the message upon her reply she received 2 new text messages saying they had cost £3 each.
Not had a bill yet but expecting a nasty one.

good day, i just want to share my experience after i register to myjoy the other day, i receive a misscall from these number+37866321929i was confuse what number is this so i try to ring the number then i remember way back in singapore that there is a scam that if you ring the unknown number your top up will be gone and after 1 ring i hangup but its too late for me,my balance 20.00 euro is long gone. ive chk in internet for my call history i have 7sec for 1.99euro and another one 7min for 18.00euro for the same number.
is it possible that mjoy is behind all of this.
Sorry my english is poor
In anycase, i still dont want to provide my number to the public(even not public). Cuz it kinda private stuff and now in most security method they need the mobile number to identify who you are, so if some people use that information in the harm way then i would be stuffed, wouldnt it?
hi guys, i wouldn't post this if it wasn't absolutely necessary.
i've tried requesting the activation key using the microsoft chat service without success. i think i must have gone through 6 representatives who have all either asked me to contact microsoft singapore or require an imei number from me before they are willing to entertain me. i have also tried contacting microsoft singapore, and they requested that i scan a receipt as proof of purchase.
it's been pretty frustrating that i haven't been able to get one for about 4 days and so i humbly request help from you kind forumers out there. if anybody could help me get a key i would be eternally grateful!
thank you in advance

Btw 4 days is nothing. Some have been hunting an activation code for much longer.

Seriously, I still dont get why people have problems with getting an activation code. I got my first one on the first try. Then when my sd card got messed up and I did a hard reset, I realised I didnt save the activation key. So I called them again and got another one, just like that. (Being in the US mighta helped though)

They're starting to catch on and ask for valid wp7 imei's or proof of purchases most of the time now, even for us in the US. I just got a second code yesterday and I had to give a HD7 imei to get it. When I called for my first code the day the port was released, I had no problem and it was easy... didn't need imei.
DO YOU WANT AN ACTIVATION CODE? OR DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A CALL FOR SOMEBODY ELSE?
Post here if you tried the follow at least 3X!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911579
I know how annoying it is when you call MS a lot for a code, wasting all your money cause the local cal-center "can not help you with that problem". i also saw people that manage to easily get 3 codes, without wasting money. i also saw some people, like me, that did not manage to get a code but really tried it...
So.... What about 1 topic where people can help each other?!?!
IF YOU WANT A CODE:
Please ask nicely in your post for an code. ALSO EXPLAIN WHY U CAN'T GET ONE YOURSELF!!! if you got one, be gratefull, thank him, maybe buy him a beer
IF YOU WANT TO HELP SOMEBODY, so he can also enjoy WP7, just as much as you do...
Please call your MS-central and obtain a key (just as you probably did before). Then reply on the request-post: say you got a code.
PM the user with that code.
CONTINUE YOUR DAY WITH THE FEELING THAT YOU REALLY HELPED SOMEONE!!
Okay i will be first...
I am from the Netherlands and my local MS/HTC call-center won't give me a code cause they want to verify my HD7 IMEI, wich i don't have of course...
i called the UK number A LOT, 1 time somebody said he will mail it to me, but i never got a code. other times people said they can't give that code, BLA BLA BLA... all this calling to the UK has cost me over 10 euros...
Would somebody like to help me? and call for me?
it would REALLY be appreciated!
Thanks already!
man i had managed to obtain 2 codes long time back ,......lost one of them ... wil try to search .. i cant promise but will intensly and if i find it will give it to you ..for sure ..also PM me i have a good idea for you ..
same situation for me, was asked for IMEI. so i'm stucked i would be very grateful for some help!!
Yeahhhhhh!!! I finally got one! I will try it again tomorrow for adam

Hi at all,
I am not facing the problem, coz I got my code one year ago without any problems from Germany. What I am wondering is, it seems that ppl at microsoft pick up their ears as soon someone tells them he has a HD7, since they started asking for the IMEI.
Well I am quite sure that one can use his activation code on any WP7 device, as it is stated that you can use one code on 5 devices. So why not just tell them. "hi there I need an activation code for my Nokia Lumia 800" ?
Just an idea, maybe it helps.

Hi, just a heads up:
Some of you are posting "please help" and posting your email. That's completely useless, since to get the code, more details are needed (don't make them public now or it will be dangerous). In addition, some of you post a Gmail: you need Hotmail to get the code Live ID.
Instead of posting "I've been trying for a year, please help", try the new methods (really, a year and nothing? ), and if none of them works (some should), look for someone who can do it for you. So don't sit back, move if you are really interested.
I can do it or try, I've done it before for me and another user, but I will never contact you to help you . I will help you if you contact me, though. You are the one with interest for it, not me.
