When I first bought the S100, the "/Storage" folder was totally empty: 0.0MB in use. After the fist hard reset it was saying 0.17MB (= 170KB) occupied.
I have updated my device 5 times and I have hard resetted it more than 30.
The strange thing is that there NO items in the "/Storage" folder (yes, I tried 3 file managers and they were set to display all files)!!!
Now it sais that 0.34MB (which are about 340KB, to make things simpler) are in use, yet there is absolutely NOTHING in that folder!!! How on Earth can I view those files and delete them???
the hardrest or the upgrade won't effect the Storage foler.....
try resco explorer and right click on storage and format..... try this it might help
on my M500 it's exacly the same, also 340Kb in use; there's an Perssavebackup folder and an text file from SD. I think i delete (format) the files, because i made already a backup with Sprite
I tried to format it with Resco Explorer, but I get a message saying:
"Can't format selected storage card. Check if your card is unlocked."
Any other ideas?
Yah the same thing is going on with my cel, it says the storage has .44mb in use and I even deleted the backup folder thing, someone help up us out here!
/Storage is not a FAT drive, so using normal formatting tools won't work.
So how can I restore it to 7.6mb?

I'm having trouble deleting files in my XDAII. Everytime I delete a file I get stock to the waiting timer that goes on and on. In the long run , I get to soft reset my unit because this does'nt stop. After the reset the file is still there not deleted. I have a spb pocket plus program installed. Does this have to do with it.
Thanks
only with file explore or also with better filemanagers like total commander ?
even with file explorer and the menu using delete command. Do you know whats wrong?
what i asked was if you have tried other file managers then explore
because explore is really not that good and if your problem could be solved by using another manager then .......
I just had a similar situation this weekend. My SD card was full, and I downloaded email.
I could not get file manager to delete anything, though it would successfully copy to a new SD card I installed. Eventually, I tried deleting files from Album -- it worked!!!
You might try Word or the Notes program, too (though I haven't).
Go figure.
There's my $0.02
If you are trying to delete files from sd card, try removing the card then reinserting, the other thing is to make sure you close all running programs except the file explorer.
It happened to me too with the ROM 1.66, the only way was to remove the SD ant to insert it again...
After solme days it stopped to do it and now with the new 1.72 ROM it works flawlessy
I have that problem when I use the default file explorer, but only when deleting files from the phone as opposed to the sd card.
In the end I decided to do all deleting from the phone memory through my PC as it works fine from there.

Friends,
I have searched through the threads and WIKI to try to find a way to get rid of the problem where when you are running programs from your storage card and use more than one, somehow the device starts to register the primary storage card as being on the device, and then treats the actual storage card as Storage Card 2. It's a big problem for me because now none of my programs from the storage card will run from what has now been relabelled "Storage Card 2" on the device. It seems to have something to do with the way the Microsoft programs automatically store to a card for Email and Internet explorer cookies.
I found the following procedure in the WIKI and tried to follow it, but I'm obviously not doing it right. It would probably be very helpful if I understood registry editing better, but I'm not sure what the exact pathnames are that I should follow to make the changes and follow the procedure below. Someone with more computer background would probably "just know." Specifically, how do I get to the IEM that is referred to below?
I would really be grateful if somehow who gets this could patiently explain exactly how to get into the right area of the registry. I don't want to screw up my device.
Thanks.

Here are the instructions. I just need help being told how to find the IEM reg hack location referred to below, so I know what to change to "test."
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you are seeing Storage Card and Storage Card2 in your File Explorer, follow these steps to fix the problem:
1. Went into Messages-Menu-Tools-Options-Storage and unclicked 'Store attachments on storage card'.
2. Opened a Total Commander (or any other ?RegEdit Tool) and changed the IEM reg hack entires. In the cookies, cookies and history keys, I changed 'Storage Card' to 'test'.
3. Opened IE so that 'test' will be created in the root directory of the Mobile Device.
4. Soft reset.
5. Opened file explorer and deleted Storage Card from the root directory of the Mobile Device.
6. Soft reset. When rebooted, Storage Card 2 should be Storage Card.
7. Opened a Total Commander (or any other ?RegEdit Tool) and changed the IEM reg hack entires. In the cookies, cookies and history keys, I changed 'test' back to 'Storage Card'.
8. Deleted the IEM folder from Storage Card. (Didn't know if this was necessary but felt that it couldn't hurt).
9. Opened IE to create IEM on Storage Card.
10. Soft rest.
11. Deleted 'Test' from the root directory of the Mobile Device.
12. Performed the Reg Hack in this thread.
13. Sent the message attachments back to Storage Card.[/i][/i][/i]
easier Way to do this
Folks,
I found an easier way to do this. You can simply rename the "Storage Card" file in Internet Explorer and the device will then read the real storage card as "Storage Card" instead of "Storage Card 2." Of course, I am now stuck with a folder named "test" that I can't delete because it has a bunch of "index" system files in it. But so far, this seems like it fixed my major frustration.
If anyone wants to talk me through how to delete the new "test" file to get rid of the indexes, I would welcome that.
Thanks.
I have two folders in my trinity's SD that I can't delete due to system warnings like "make sure is not protected" and stuff like that. Do anyone has any idea of how to force the elimination of them? any handy soft or registry key?

my first try would be from a pc cardreader
You could try using WM5Torage, and connecting the device directly. Or put the card in any other device.
If that fails, I think the only way is to format the storage card...
Sometimes if there are corrupt files in a folder it can't be deleted, the only way (I think) is to format it (backup every thing else and copy back to card).
Some folders are created automatic by the OS (like IEcache in some ROM's), but that can be set up in the registry.
Hi @ all,
since a few days most of my memory card directories disapperaed. There are only the My Documents folder (which is empty, too) and a TEMP folder I created left on the card.
Although I searched for some threads like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294324 all attempts failed.
The space on the card is still occupied and when re-installing programms a new Program directory is created with the same name as the dissapeared one. I have one program when the installer claimed to remove the previous version first before re-installation. So it seems to find something (but I assume in Windows directory or registry).
How will I get the dissappeared folders back? Is there any other chance than formating the SD card and re-installing all programs?
I'm using bepe's cooked German WM6 V0.96 (the last one) and a 2 GB miniSD-Card. It worked quite well since a year now...
Thanks for help,
TC

trinity, for some reason, spoils the FAT and reestablishes it with new data. the FAT is like a directory of "where to find what on disk".
as yout fat doesn't work properly, especially it doesn't show off the used sectors or clusters, all new storage will overwrite and destroy this way part of your old data.
so if this happens, remove inmediately the sd-card, put it into your PC card reader and pass it trough file appropiate rescue programs and you'll mostly find almoust all files.
so take a breath, download file rescue pgm's to your PC (some work better, others have many options, others ...) and have a try.
after the rescue, format the SD in your PC.
mine is just passing the rescue :-( and it's rescueing about 1600 files yet

Hello everyone,
I'm using French Sunrise rom from Miammiam, posted also on this forum.
And since the last version 2.1 my storage card is always renamed storage card 2 after a soft reset.
I never had this problem with my previous rom Sunrise 1.4, didn't have this problem, but I already encounter this issue on some other rom like Leo rom's, and miri's.
I already tried everything I found on this forum or using google.
As informations I didn't change IE cache path, I'm just storing my emails on the storage card.
I hope some one can help me.
Best regards,

I think that you have a hiden folder called "Storage card" on the root of your device.
rename this folder o delete it then every thing will be right.
Hello,
Thank's for your answer but Event if I delete the newly created folder then soft reset the phone, it change nothing my storage card is again named "Storage card 2".
There is no hidden folder, on the root of my phone I checked it with total commander.
On the other hand after deleting the newly created foler called "storage card" then ejecting my sd card and inserting back the card is again called " Sorage card" but after a soft reset it's again called "storage card 2".
In anyway thank you for your reply.

Try using Resco File Explorer and define there that you want to see hidden (system) files. You may locate an original directory with that name.
I had this problem twice. I my case this problem was probably due to starting up TomTom when connected by USB with my computer.
hey if it aint broke dont fix it...
