I currently have an XDA I (Siemens SX56 AT&T) and would like to get an XDA II (unlocked) as soon as they're sold by a reliable US source. FYI, I called AT&T Tech support and they said an unlocked phone should work great, just swap the SIM chip over from my XDA I.
It looked like Phone4Devs would be a good source, but they went out of business. The other sources (below) I've found are mostly overseas and pretty expensive.

I'm sure I'm like many of you who would like to pay less than the $850-1,000 + Unknown Custom Charges, that overseas sources are asking.
There are many versions of the HTC Himalaya phone out there (qTek 2020, O2 XDA II, i-mate XDA II). It looks like the i-mate and qTek are the best for the US. Any feedback?

I understand what you mean because I am currently waiting on Expansys.us too. When you get your phone please let us know of your over all experience with PPCW.net and also how the warranty or technical support is handle for the phone. I understand Expansys.us will play the middle man if you have an issue with phone during your warranty period (which is good considering we are in the US).
Anybody knows? T-Mobile doesnt carry the XDAII.

That's where I bought my phone, 750 Bones.. Currently cheaper than www.expansys-usa.com Plus it's the T-Mobile MDA II which looks better than the XDA II.. Same hardware though.

The MDA III/XDA III is pure rumor and speculation at this point. It is NOT a product you can purchase yet, because it is not a product yet.
The XDA II/i-mate can be purchaed at eXpansys.com.
There is speculation that T-Mobile will carry the new iPaq 6300 PDA/Phone sometime later this year, but until I see it on their website, I won't hold my breath on that one either.

I got mine at www.gsmphonesource.com, the company is in vegas where I live and was very helpful! Adam (the guy who owns it) even upgraded the firmware in my hbh-65 bluetooth headset to the latest version. (small fee)
I found that if you are looking for the latest GSM phones in the US then adam usually has them or can get them. I check his site regularly to see whats new, as he usually has it first. I have purchased several items from him. p800, p900, mdaII, bluespoon, hbh-60, hbh-65.

In hk, the dopod838(htc wizard) is your only choice.
you dont need to worry too much.
Eng and chi version are both available in market.
You can get one from any store.
Because most people target on Dopod818 pro and o2 Atom.
Anyway, the market place is around $6100 hk dollar.

well if the hk local warranty is not a concern, i'll suggest u get 9100 or kjam instead. ( for me they came with much better outlook than dopod )

HK warranty is not really an issue for me. My main concern would be ROM updates I've been to the dopod website and it's all in Chinese, it leaves me wondering how frequent the English OS devices will get their updates.

since dopod is focus on chinese market, do u think it's better to just get qtek or imate ?
yeah. that and the fact that the qtek would be HKD 500 cheaper is really a plus factor
Just placed my order at expansys hk and they did not accept my credit card [maybe because I am from Manila, Philippines] anyway I would like to ask our Hong Kong brothers and sisters... is the Qtek 9100 available in retail outlets? i.e. Fortress or Wan Chai computer center etc? I do not like the dopod 838's look... has anyone spotted a Qtek 9100 in retail stores? Please reply asap so I know if I will get from expansys hk or just buy in a store. Thanks in advance. bad news for you, there are no retail shop in HK are selling either 9100 or kjam. Btw, why don't send an email to Expansys and ask why they are not accepting your credit card ? ( they seems accept cheque or maybe bank transfer ? )

thanks for the info! so only the dopod 838 is available in HK retail stores then this is really sad news for me. i've been trying to call them the whole afternoon their line is busy anyway the reason they don't accept credit card from the Philippines is because there is widespread credit card fraud here. This was also my problem last year when I got my imate JAM from expansys hk I asked a friend to deposit for me, before they shipped my order, i thought since i was a returning customer they would accept my card but this is not the case apparently. i asked if i could deposit the money on january 2 and get my order on jan 3 but they have not replied yet. they are a bit slow aren't they!

@bnycastro: My post has not to do with your problem at all. Did you have the chance to take a look at the dopod 838 "live"? I promise it looks much better than on any picture. I know this since vodafone is selling exactly the same unit here. I found the pictures awful. But as soon as I had my unit in hands I fell in love... So give it a try...

Yep, friend of mine recently bought Dopod 838 Eng, ~$5800HKD. Interestingly they had to open THREE 838's before it worked. the first two failed to boot up.
Make sure you try before you buy!

After weighing out the Atom vs Phrophet debate, it looks like a buddy of mine and myself have decided on getting a couple i-Mate Jamin's but now the thing is trying to find a seller in North America. Preferrably in the USA because I'm sure it'll be cheaper since we have access to an American credit card and an American address. So far on eBay I see them going for $650USD/$750CAD. Only one seller is selling the i-mate Jamin. What's the lowest price I can get one for especially if I buy two at one time?
