dll(s) for depressed key appearance in dialer - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I used a couple of different phone dialer skins but was not happy with any of them. One problem is that the original key appearance shows through the new skin when you press and hold. I uninstalled all the skins but now the number keys (not the function keys though...) do not change appearance when the key is held. The original dialer does do this. I would like to get the dialer completely back to original. I read that these depressed key images are in one or more dlls. Could someone post these and explain where to install them?

The solution
Thanks much to user hshortt for most of this solution.
Get ahold of the file tapres.dll, place it in your Windows folder (mine was not missing nor did any dailer skinning modify this dll (there was another dll called tapres.96.dll in the Windows folder, no idea what this one is or if it was placed there by a dialer skin...). Either way just make sure you have the version of this file from your original ROM.
Make sure you have a registy string value under
Hkey_Current_User | Control Panel | Phone
called "IcoFil"
make sure the value is "tapres.dll"
Somehow one of the dialer skins I used removed this string!
Do a soft reset and your dialer will get back the altered appearance of the number keys when pressed.
Again BIG cheers to hshortt!

So have you found the file that has the depressed image ?

Is is the tapres.dll file. Again the file was already on my phone. The dialer skins did not remove the file. Let me know if you want me to post the file I have.

If it is not too much trouble
thanks

Difficulties
The file is classified as
System
Read Only
ROM
These are making it difficult to extract the file to my PC. If you can help with instructions to extract the file (must just be some simple trick I don't know) then I'd be happy to post it.

Cannot change themes anymore

I am not sure when it happened but i have lost the ability to change themes. I have it set to the Windows Default theme and can't change it to anything else. When i go to settings, then Today, I get a list o fthemes. But if i select any of them and hit ok, nothing changed, even after soft reset. Th eonly thing that changed is when i highlight an object, the highlight is a different color.
I am sure a hard reset will fix this, but I don't want to do that yet.
What exactly happens when you select a theme? Does it extract some files from the .tsk file? If so, what are they and where does it go?
Perhaps, those files are write protected andcan't be copied over in my case.

WOW, this is happening to me right now and it's driving me nuts! it seems to have happened after i tried a blackish greyish theme called vista something. Have you found a fix for it?! or does anyone know how to fix this? all i can use is the windows default aqua theme
This is happening to me right now also. Has anyone come up with a fix for this yet?
im still looking for a solution. if i find it, ill post it here. if you find it, please share!
This is happening to me too. I decided to change themes the other day and nothing happend after selecting and hitting 'ok'. Even the themes that came with my Mogul dont work.
I have tried removing themes and soft-restarting and no luck.
Does anyone know what files are modified when you select a theme? my guess is that something is getting corrupted.
Using a registry editor, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
Do you see a key named after the theme you installed?
If so, change the value of Role from 64d to 24d and then remove your theme as you usually do.
Here is an expert's explanation:
BenThon said:
Nevertheless, there is a light problem with TSKs created with XML :
I have found a drawback writing TSK with _setup.xml :
New keys in registry :
HKLM\Software\Apps\name of TSK
HKLM\Seurity\AppInstall\name of TSK
And it creates a folder in Windows\AppMgr\name of TSK with a tmp file inside. You can't delete these folders as they are System.
Tsk installed with XML have registry key :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name\Role = 64d
So, When this key is set to 64d, application are masked to the uninstaller.
If you put the value 24d, as other applications, you can uninstall TSK with classical uninstaller.
It deletes the registry keys of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\TSK_Nameand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name
and it deletes folders concerned.
So :
actually, when a TSK is loaded with xml, it creates keys in HKLM\Security\AppInstall\TSK_Name\Role = 64
and folder in Windows\AppMgr\TSK_Name
But you cannot uninstall the TSK by normal procedure because the uninstall is hidden by the value 64 of Role.
If you set this value to 24, it is possible.

borealcool,
So if I understand you, you are saying that when I change to another theme, the system is trying to 'uninstall' the current theme? So if I change the value in the registry it will be able to change or 'uninstall' it?
I was thinking that it could have something to do with a locked file of some sort becuase I have also been stricken with the 'access denied' phantom. I can't delete files from file explorer no matter what they are or where they are stored. (and no other programs are running)
I guess I'm going to have to become familiar with the registry...ugh. Do you have a recommendation for an editor?
TSK and _setup.xml
I think you are right borealcool !
It seems that I have played with fire by permitting to create TSK with information file "_setup.xml" :
if there is not a conventional inf file (with extension ".000") themes does not work with OS < WM5.
there is a drawback with theme and _setup.xml (which I explained here in september 2006 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1016599#post1016599 and in a RTF file (TSK and XML (EN).rtf) which is in the zip file of ThemeGenCE.
I have found the same problem in this forum : http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1291292
Please read the TSK and XML (EN).rtf where I explain how to solve the problem and give a solution with ThemeGenCE and PocketPC connected with ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center.
I can give you an advice if you do not want to have problem with themes :
Create themes with ThemeGenCE with setting for create the themes in the Options Tab for TSK with "+ Inf" only selected.
If you load a theme from Internet and you are not sure how it was built, take it into ThemeGenCE, check the "+Inf" option only and save the theme with your modifications.
Same problem here.
I have the same problem it will only load the one default .tsk file no matter what tsk file i select. if i go to reg and check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
I don't see any entries for the tsk.
I also checked HKEY _CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\TODAY
It shows the tsk file i have selected but theme still remains the green generic one. Ican select a picture as background but I have some cool themes too. Any other ideas to fix this?
I'm using aT-mobile Wing WM6
Thanks all Randy
can those who are having the theme problem still successfully connect via activesync?
qu1nn
activesync
Activesync works but I just reformatted my computer and loaded activesync a couple of days ago.
I know this question is prolly silly but do I install themegence on my computer or on my WM6 phone? Also which version should I use for creating themes on my mogul? Thanks
It seem happends when I changing theme with task tray hidded.
I used to hide task tray with dciNoBar.exe.
And then, the CAB files can't be installed too.
WM6 seem can't creat TSK entry in today category.
So, I have'nt found solution, just hard reboot and reinstall all.
I was having the same problem until I noticed HTC X-Button 1.5 was the culprit. I changed the Button settings to "End programs by tapping and holding "X". This solved the problem until I was able to get the theme changed then I changed it back to "End programs by tapping "X".

Custom Dialpad

I've been using the unskinned dialer on my Vogue for the last couple weeks because its much snappier and features an embedded call history. However, after looking at some of the new Diamond custom dialers I've realized I'm not happy with the default skin, so I started pouring over the Windows directory looking for the images that govern the unskinned dialer in hopes I could directly skin it instead of using the dialer overlays.
I was able to find a few files of use, in particular the gifs that control the background color for the call and end keys, the call history images on the left (for call missed/out/in), and the background image. But after changing the files via TotalCommander and soft-resetting, I see no change.
Is there any way to do this without cooking? And does anyone know where else files might be kept for editing this dialer?
ANY help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I'm curious about this too. I've looked all over, but havent been able to find what i'm looking for. Is there a PSD somewhere for the iphone-ish dialers that has the correct splits and things to create our own?
The custom dialers are an alternative to the original dialer...
Look at the files in the CABs for custom dialers, and you will see they have a different set of files. Look at those, and edit them as you want.
Yes, but the custom dialers lose the embedded call history functionality and are sluggish in comparison with wm's default dialer. I don't mind having to cook a rom to get this to work, but I still don't know where all of the images are stored, particularly the ones for the actual number buttons. And perhaps an xml file governing their placement?

Okay...
Maybe this will work...
In the dll files related to the dialer (can't remember there names off hand), there will be graphic files that can be replaced...
Okay, after much searching (now that I knew what I was looking for), I've come up with a list of dlls that may be related:
phcanhtc.dll
phcanoverBMP.dll
dpadmenu.dll
tapres2.dll
tapres.dll.0409.mui
tapres.dll
also, the reg key hklm/security/resover might allow something
Only problem is I realized after continued reading that some of the info I got was related to wm5 roms trying to get smartdialing working like wm6....so if anyone could help me narrow down which dlls are the right ones to edit, that would be fantastic!
also, whats the best way to edit dll and mui files?

phcanhtc.dll -- Contains some BMPs/images
phcanoverBMP.dll -- Contains most of the images
dpadmenu.dll -- Is to do with the dialer workings... Contains no images (I think)
tapres2.dll -- may contain some images
tapres.dll.0409.mui -- is localisation. Mostly just text strings, but may be some images
tapres.dll -- may contain some images
I use "ResHacker" to open up dlls and modify them...
Just tried copying the needed dlls over to my storage card, tried both totalCommander and RescoExplorer, with flight mode off/on, can't get access to tapres.dll, tapres.96.dll, or tapres.dll.0409.mui
Edit: Thanks for the info and the heads up on reshack!
That may be a problem... I'd guess they need to be cooked into the ROM, in which case it may be easiest to take a ROM, dump it, edit the files there, rebuild it and then flash it...
Yeah, I just realized they're rom files and I can't get at them this way.
But I was able to successfully edit phcanoverBMP and change the call history icons.
Thanks for all your help, its cooking time

No probs!
There are also some files in the WM5 ROM I've dumped in an OEM pack called "Phone_DPI_96" that may be of interest...
they are:
Code:
backarrow_glyph.gif
clg_in.gif
clg_miss.gif
clg_out.gif
cmdpad_land.gif
cmdpad_port.gif
cmdpad_sqre.gif
dialpad_land.gif
dialpad_port.gif
dialpad_sqre.gif
anything beginning with "dlr"
handset_glyph.gif
spd_lst.gif
Okay, so I got ahold of a kitchen, but when I found the tapres dlls in the sys folder, they're not compiled -- its a bin file, 2 txts, and an s000. Reshack can't do anything with these files. What do I do?
You need to use "Reversemode" to turn those into a dll, then you can edit that.
I googled reversemode, and all I came up with was reversemode.com which didn't look like any sort of software that would help with this.

well this seems to be a brick wall. no matter which file I try to use revresmode on, it says it doesn't work on .net files.
Thanks for the help anyways tho.
I don't know about changing the font of the dialer, but you can change the dialer within the rom contents (only the buttons and background) I found that there are two separate folders in the SYS folder. the files are read only. unlock them and edit in photoshop. you don't have to relock them to cook them back in, just save them in the same exact format they were in before you unchecked the "readonly". That is how I edited mine. I have no idea why why anyone would bother trying to mess with the dll's?!!!

Doing that gives me a "cannot open input file" error. And yes, all files and folders are not marked as read only.

Black-based Blackstone Dialer

Thanks to the great job from all the greater guys for the Blackstone dialer.
But I am thinking whether anyone has a way to change the current white-based dialer to a black-based colour scheme. Thanks.

yes unpack the folder of the dialer and go through and manually change each and every part of the dialer using your favourite image editor. Repackage it up and wait for the adulation of the masses, or more likely someone to start moaning at you because you haven't done it exactly as they want you to... ;p
you mean the folder on the ppc itself or the cab provider ? ...
i don't mind doing the photoshop work if i have the jpg/gif/etc ... but i still need someone to package it into a cab ... as i don't know how
I too would like to know if there's a simpler way to do this.
I'm happy to edit all the files myself in photoshop, but...
When I extract the cab file i recieve alot of files with numerical extensions.
Fine and dandy, i've gone through a few of them and changed the extensions so that they are jpg/png etc just so i can view what they are.
Can anyone with previous experience of editing cab files like this write a simple howto, i.e. how to know which files are which and what format they should be saved in jpg/png/bmp/ico etc.
i saw from the _setup.xml file that all the filename are mentioned inside but was wondering if the marker of this cab can release the original package before cab-ing so that I can photoshop all the image file individual before they cab it again ...

Give it ago, I think the pink images need to stay pink though.
I can cab it up if you need to but there are some free cabmakers around..
They aren't hard to use, the main problem I've found is giving them enough permissions to overwrite files..
this one is supposed to be okay, but I haven't tried it.
http://www.aperitto.com/content/category/23/226/lang,en/ LOL, okay I have tried it now, it's working under WINE on my ubuntru machine
Wince cabmanager is pretty nice as well, but it costs $99, the demo does 15 cabs I think..

If you do not want to pay for a cab maker to rebuild a cab after you change an image, you can do this by following these steps :
Run MSCEInf. Open the Cab you want to modify (or the TSK which are also Cabs) with the first button.
Make sure that the 9th button is not with red cross. Else click on it. This make sure that extraction preserves Folders names.
Click on the 7th button to extract all files.
Select or create a folder for the extraction.
Extraction is done !
Modify the file you want in the folder or subfolder without changing its name.
Put at the root of the folder you selected or created the Microsoft program (free) CABWIZ. (Do a G....E search)
Open a Dos Windows in the folder (CMD...).
Msceinf has rebuilt the Inf File a the root of your folder so you can do in CMD mode : Cabwiz "name of the inf file".
And your new CAB is at the root of your folder.
Easy, but not really automatic, nevertheless cheaper than with WinCE...
It would be SO cool if someone made a black Blackstone dialer, especially for black Xperia X1s.
I REALLY like the "slide to answer or hangup" function of the blackstone dailer, rather than just the "push to answer" version on the stock Xperia ROM/firmware.

Nice one Benoit,
Nothing beats MSCEInf for extraction
That aperitto one looks pretty neat for all inclusive building including reg editing etc.. damn site better than wince cabmaker and is free (for non commercial), so far so good..
I have installed the blackstone dialler by itje its cool but i thought it was this big digit one from blackstone modded for the X1.
Ive tried to download the big digit one from Blackstone but get no dl link by email, I have big sausage fingers and keep making mistakes with the default size touch dialler on the X1 and need a bigger digit keyset to aim my stubby fingers at while making calls.
Is there a big digit dialler available yet for the X1?.
Edit,: Just found this, a nice touch on the dialler by itje is the bluetooth headset icon that when connected changes from the default bt icon to a headset !

Changing Quicklinks on homescreen

This ist probably a stupid question, but I just couldn't find a solution.
How do I change an already existing Quickling on the homescreen? The same question is also valid for the contacts screen.
Once I have defined a Quicklink on the Homescreen there doesn't seem to be a method to change it to something else, I couldn't find it anywhere in the settings. And touch-and-hold doesn't do anything eighter.
So if anyone knows the solution please post it here.
Thanks

Remove quick links
Try "Menu" (lower right corner) -> Remove quick links ->tap on the one you want to remove -> Done -> you're done
found solution (sorry)
Okay that works.
Thank for your help.
I'm also having Quicklinks problems.
I can delete/change the ones that point to programs but the last row of my Quicklinks point to my top websites (ie; Bookmarks/Favourites) and if I use the normal method to delete them it doesn't work! Has anyone else found this, or a solution?
What might be the issue is that I've installed a cab to increase the number of Quicklinks from 9 (3x3) to 16 (4x4). Could that be causing this, as in a stock HD2 that last row wouldn't even be there...?
Many thanks!
You may certainly use a *.cab which has modified the number of quicklinks on home tab, and which doesn't work properly, isn't ?
You can :
- uninstall this cab
- sof reset
- delete quick links
- install back the cab
- soft reset
Then it's ok.
I realise that this is an old thread but I am a new owner of an HD2 and still finding my way. I have done a search and this is the closest thread to my issue.
Just like ugotamesij I have 16 quick links on my home page. My probem is that I cannot remove an unwanted quick link by using the menu button option to get rid of it. The link that I am trying to remove is to the Excel Mobile program.
I would like to remove the .cab file that gave me the 16 links and then re-install it but I do not know how to remove the .cab file from the SD card.
I have located the particular file using the file explorer and deleted it from the list on my SD card but the 16 quick links still appear on my phone after a soft reset.
Can someone assist please?

you can use the registry editor to remove the links -
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
There are keys marked with 0..9 (or 0..n)
each item is a shortcut on the home page.
there is a value called "IsExist" set it to 0,
and set all the other tring values to empty.
If you only want to re-order the links -
you can use the app in the following link

Som30ne, thank you for the reply and link.
I am sorry to reveal my ignorance but I do not know what your instructions mean. I have never had a windows mobile phone before and have never attempted any tweaks.
This registry editor business sounds very interesting but sadly, it's like a foreign language to me.
If you have the time can you break it right down for me or point me to a "how to..." guide?

To edit the registry I use TotalCommanderCE,
it's free, just google it.
After you install it, run it, and click on the [\] button (top right of the screen)
double click "Plugins"
double click "Registry"
and then go to the path specified (HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\. . . .)
go to each of the number folders and double click the values to edit them.
After editing - exit the TotalCommander,
and hold the power button, and select "power off", than turn the device back on,
so the new values would be loaded on bootup.
I hope it's clear enough.
Enjoy.
(BTW: if you are not sure - write down any o the value you changed,
just in case you need to restore the values to what they were before)
I feel as though I'm on the right path but require a little more help.
After a little further research I installed PHM RegEdit and using the directions provided by Som30ne have found the entry in the registry that relates to the offending quick link (Excel Mobile). It is next to a folder with the number 9.
The path is HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home\9
What do I do to simply remove Excel Mobile as a quick link?

There cannot/shouldnt/isnt any quick links near the folders.

Inside each of the folders (0 . . N) there are several entries - one of the entried is called "IsExist", and the others contain a path to a program link, and a path to the program icon.
Thanks for you patience.
I finally found the value IsExist and changed it from 1 to 0. I saved my change and then did a soft reset. Sadly, The quick link is still there and resolutely defies any attempts to remove it.
Is there something that I have missed or is there another way? If all else fails I can see only two choices;
1. Perform a hard reset and start again from scratch or,
2. Leave the quick link where it is and learn to live with it.
Any other ideas - PLEASE?
I am fairly new to this registry editing myself, but I also had this problem.
Using the good advice from this thread so far I have managed to get rid of the quick link from my 4x4 quick link grid.
I just looked at the registry values for an empty link and entered the same values for the one I wanted to remove. I then did a soft reset and it seems to have worked.
Thanks for the support speaky05 but I managed to get the required result by simply un-installing the .cab file that gave me the 4x4 grid and then re-installing it.
I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner.

[Problem] Set icons in start menu

Hi,
I´ve got an issue that i can´t set an icon to task manager and messages in start menu/settings/System. See the pic below. I use a cab file to apply these icons.
i just make a pkg with my reg entries and pics i want to use at the end of my kitchen. open up your reg with reg editor and see if it looks like this...
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\cplmain.cpl,1]
"Rank"=dword:000002BC
"Icon"="[COLOR="Red"]\\[/COLOR]Windows[COLOR="Red"]\\[/COLOR]Start_Icon_Lock.png"
notice the \\, it must be that way in registry...a single "\" wont work. also you could try assigning rank, but i dont really think that is necessary for the pic to show.

Thanks for the tip. I made an OEM of my cab to make it easer. This is what reg i have for the task manager, but it dosnt work.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,30]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png"
EDIT: Btw, how is rank determined? Dont really understand what ""Rank"=dword:000002BC" means..
I'm a noobie so forgive me if I make any mistakes.
But... Try adding some "zzz"s before the package to make it run at the end of the build process. If it still doesn't work, search inside all files (most probably the .provxml files) in your kitchen folder for "Task Manager.lnk" and see if another file is assigning a different icon to it. I use EVK's built in search engine to do jobs like that.
I hope I helped
EDIT: About Rank, icons are ordered from highest to lowest rank values in the start menu. I think "000002BC" is a hex value for the normal integer value that the rank is set to.
EDIT2: WOW! Awesome icons! Did you make them?

Thanks for the tip. I have the folder to run last in customization. I understand thats its some sort of hex value or whatever, but i dont understand it so i can place the icons where i want them.
The icons are made by dlink ithink.
2BC = 700. The rankings go from 0-999, and most are higher, which is why that one appears on the low side. The easiest thing is to just arrange everything on the phone (drag and drop), then export the entire start menu registry key and just put that into your start menu EXT. I'm not sure exactly how the values vary left to right and top to down.
I heard somewhere that the built in start menu 'drag n drop' messes with the ranks? I'm probably wrong though
I believe the ranks go in this order.. 1 being highest, 8 being lowest. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I hope NRG doesn't mind me butchering his start menu with my awesome paint skills
Hey... i dont think you are patching and i dont think you are trsut sign the cab... or making the image PNG...
but if you are "cooking" you dont need the cab... just make an EXT PKG with the icons ins the "file" folder... and the REGS in "app.reg" file making the path to the image, if you are patching you must to set the image as "read only" simple slash and be sure that CPL is teh correct one... and for the New TEXTMesage be sure you are using the path to.. tmail.exe i couldnt give you my EXT PKG with the paths cause im not in my home right now

Thanks for the help + Que PPC. The PNG is ok as it works in start menu. Btw, i made a package, instead of an cab. Much simpler to edit. What is the correct CPL for task manager in start menu/setting/System?
I have no clue on CPL or how to determine posistion
Ok i have the stock image for Taskmanager in my startmenu in position #24
Hex = 35A4EBEC
DEC = 900000748
So it seems that in the strat menu you can rank the icons as you want... by this 100 to 900 valu but in settings and for CPL icons the thing is.. they are arranged authomatically by name
(look at the attached image)
and this is the reg for cpl 30
Just this string in: Start menu settings system screen[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,30]
String value named Icon
with this: \Windows\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png
BEsure there is the image in windows folder
so... in your EXT pkg it must be like this:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Task Manager.lnk]
"Rank"=dword:35A4EBEC
"Icon"="\Windows\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,30]
"Icon"="\Windows\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png"

Only need to learn hex editing to position the icons then
I´ve tried theese, but none of them works.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,30]
"Icon"="\Windows\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png"
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,30]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_TaskMgr.png"
easyst way - works great in build 23112
hello,
1. hardcodec-items
the easyst way to change the icon, is to going in the sys folder to the directory
\SYS\23112\dpi_192\COMMON\Base_DPI_192\
you find all hardcoded items in this directory (e.g. start_icon_*.png)
give your new icons the same name in your ext directory (oem)
2. customize icons
only what you need to customize icon is the following reg-keys
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Task Manager.lnk]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Task Manager.png"
-> this key replace the "task manager.lnk" icon in the root of the startmenue
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Office\Notizen.lnk]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Office_Notizen.png"
-> this key replace the "notizen.lnk" (like notice in english) icon in the customize directory "order" in the startmenue
so when you need no ranking is the simplest and fastest wayy i can explain to you...

- I can confirm that this works fine.
- However, this is good for lnk that have direct entry under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start]. But how to know which cpl index refers to which setting/program shortcut?

The thing is that i dont get the icon that is in SYS, i get the on in the exe. Would not matter if i change it.
Very true i can confirm that... the CPL images for icons in settings system cant be changed... maybe is due to another reg or .ico or other kind of file in oem

Could be.. Probably. I sure hope not
You should convert the rgu files to xml files.
XML always run after the RGU, So its better to use when making custom modification.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369457 (second post)
Th e cpl's are loaded in a provxml in the oem folder (don't remember which one off the top of my head). If it's messing with desired settings, rather than loading another provxml during first boot, and slowing down first boot even more, it's better to either edit or delete the oem provxml. Personally, I'd delete it and then put your start info in an app.reg in an EXT that runs near the end of the build.
Edit: the provxml with all of the cpl's is mxip_HtcApps_translation.provxml, and it's in oem-lang 0409. It's a complete waste to run this thing, imo. Just put it in an app.reg and you'll get a faster first boot.
Sorry but for change icon position in start menu, cant you do it just from start menu moving that icon and then go to the right reg key and export it?
This work for Kaiser dunno if Leo,Tp2 or Topaz has different way.
hi fellow chefs
i post my question here as i thought it would be better then openijng a new thread for it
i keep marketplace in my rom but i cant set it to the internet folder
i have looked in the initflash.dat and there is nothing there about marketplace(at least not that i could find)
i have looked in the sys map from market place and found a provxml
