Hi,
I already have an O2 Online Sim Card in my current mobile (nokia 7600)
if i were to buy a XDA 2 and put that sim card in would i be able to access the internet as before, only in HTML and use all the features on the XDA 2. Basicaly Will i be able to have full use of the XDA 2 With that sim Card. its a pay and go. I really want the XDA 2 but do not want a pay monthly contract.
thanks for the help.
Aaron
All that is available with your current phone and sim will be available with the xda 2 as long as correct settings are applied.
O2 pay as you go only gives you WAP access.
HTML?
Would i Not be able to Access the net (HTML) at all? and use the MSN Messenger ect.

Does anyone else have problems with the O2 website (www.o2.co.uk) and gettting it to work on their handsets?
Everytime I try to get on there, I'm prompted to upgrade my Explorer and then taken to the Microsoft website where the upgrade is for the desktop version, not Mobile??
yup
Do you know what the problem is?
I've been having a rather long email discussion with various Customer Service Advisors @ O2 (you know what it's like with them), and they still have no idea what it is.
I'll post the resolve if they find out what's wrong, and if no-one else does...
You need to fool the O2 website to think you have a newer version of Internet Explorer.
Download a program called RegKing 2003. I can't remember where to find it, but just type regking XDA in google.
The program allows you to change the registry and importantly allows you to fool websites into thinking you're using IE6.
Same here but...
I have the same problem but in theory u shouldn't need to! xda has its own xda compatible website and u can recieve ur o2 mails via ur handset!
O2 have now asked me to put my SIM into another handset to see if it I get the same problem. They'll know whether it's a SIM or handset problem this way.
Bloody shame I don't know anyone else with an XDA...
Has anyone had any joy with sorting this problem out?
Can anyone actually get onto o2.co.uk through their handsets?
This is really bugging me now, and o2 are as being as helpful as a blind guide-dog.

I have tried using a piece of software called tweaks 2k2 to set pie to look like IE6, and can get onto www.o2.co.uk fine (its a bit slow though) I'd suggest you try that.
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions: I have used the settings that I found here a while ago, to attempt to access the internet with my XDA II; I have bought a prepay o2 SIM card as my contract doesn't support internet access - but it is very very cheap.
I can access the internet, I can get on to Google, and things like the BBC website that seems to be built in to the o2 active is fine; but I can't get onto other websites such as Yahoo Mail (I did once, but it's gone sulky on me and refuses to cooperate now).
If I search Google, it will come up with the usual list of websites, and it is quite often possible to get the information I need from the clues there, but it refuses to let me get onto whatever the website is.
Can anyone think of anything I could do? Is it the Pay and go SIM card, or is my XDA II not powerful enough? Any thoughts would be very welcome.
the question has been answered by exploring another thread; I changed the portal (possibly) from 80 to 8080 and it now works. I should be looked further before answer the question, but thanks to those who post useful information.
I am fairly new to these devices. Just got the O2 Xda Mini S as a free upgrade on my current contract. I have not had any problems as of yet with it but the one thing i have yet to figure out is how to check how much data is being transferred. I play around on the web and check emails a lot and want to see how much data i am using as i believe it is £3 a meg. so does anyone know how to check your usage. thanks alot
you would need a gprs counter, i dont think the Mini ships with one, the older xda IIi did, check to see if it is on one of the cd's or not, if not you could buy spb gprs monitor (check mobile 5 compatibilty first) which will do the job.
If you check the XDA Mini S Application CD - you'll see that it contains SPB's GPRS Monitor.
Si.
Hi there-I cannot seem to get my email on my xda mini s set up properly. I am on a pay as u go account for my mobile can that be a problem? I also use webased email as opposed to outlook/outlook express. Anyone got any suggestions? If I am at a wifi hotspot I can try to connect but never seem to-that is to free spots I am talking about, not trying to leach off an open node. It is very frustrating.
Hope someone can help

hello, i have the touch flo 1.0.1818.3719 and i lost my aim. is there a cab that i can get it back. orrr a cabb for a better aim, that doesnt use the internet plan....cause i have the aim plan not the internet..please reply asap. cause im going to my cousins upstate liek 3 days from now, and they dont have internet up there! thank you all!
I still have the AIM 2.0 for Mobile - however, it is too large to attach here, so, if you want, PM me your email address and I will send it to you. It is the free English UK AIM for Mobile 2.0 if that is what you're looking for. It connects using your active internet connection.
I just wonder if another Messenger application wouldn't be better? Such as IM++ or Agile Messenger?
You can get it off their website or check my signature for alternatives (such as Slick, Jivetalk, etc).
Yeah it is as easy as re-downloading it from AIM.com
