Hi All,
I don't know about you lot but I found it frustrating that I couldn't set the Image or Video number counters in the camera options page.
So... I decided to write my first functional .NET app.
This app basically reads in the current values from the registry of the camera app and then writes back the values into the registry for you.
I'm providing both and EXE and CAB as I know some ppl prefer one or the other. The app doesn't have an icon *yet* as I'm no graphic designer and anything I design would look cak! If anyone is offering to make one for it then that would be marvellous
You need the .NET Compact Framework and also the OpenNET Compact Framework for this app to work.
Comments welcome.

hi
any one know how to code my own Today Screen Plugin?
i m a programmer.
i want to create my own usefull Today Screen Plugin like Clock.
short cuts. and timer..
i can only develop application for O2, but i dont know how to make
Today Screen
Hi tinkyawoo!
I assume you program in c++?
Today plug-in is basically a DLL that exports two functions with fixed ordinals.
InitCustomItem - the important one, and another (don't remember the name) for options dialog (if you want one).
There is an article on this at www.pocketpcdn.com.
You can also use my code published here for reference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45084
Good luck!
thanks. i will check it
tinkyawoo: if you're a programmer, I suggest checking out the SDK; it has a good example framework for a plugin, although watch out for the repainting bug in the sample.
Otherwise, read levenum's source code as well. It's excellent. You can learn a lot.

Would it not be possible....
Would it not be possible to write a small dll which can be controlled from VB.NET or C#.net to display certain things?
If this was released (under BSD or another permissive licence) then we could all use it to develop stuff, which would help those of us who's first language is Basic
Today Plugin
Unfortunately you can't write today screen DLLs in .Net.
There is a lot of info on the microsoft web site - if u care to search.
They do - however - give you a means of writing a EVC DLL that calls a .net application for the today screen info , but I haven't tried it.

Re: Would it not be possible....
What do you mean by "controlled from". Do you want a .NET app to be able to effect the plug in somehow? If so, it is possible...since .NET is managed code and the plug-in is a native dll, the simplest way to have the two communicate is via windows messages.
You can do the following:
-Register a custom Message that your .NET app will broadcast to your plug-in(s)
-in your DLL WndProc procedure, listen for that message and act accordingly
Alternatively, you can have the dll do the same thing, but ofcourse, your .net app would have to be running to recieve that message (unless you have the dll launch it directly).

THIS IS A .NET Framework Application. YOU NEED .NET COMPACT FRAMEWORK 2.0 INSTALLED AT YOUR DEVICE. NO,....THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO DO IT WITHOUT .NET CF
Hello,
I´m a lucky owner of an XDA Orbit. I love this device but I hate SMS writing on it. I write a lot of SMS but I don´t want to use the Stylus or put my Fingers on the Touchscreen everytime. So, today I´ve started to write a prototype of an SMS Application which uses the advantage of the HTC RollR™, I hope so...
This Application is and will be designed to be used only by the Hardware Input Methods. E.g. Stylus will not work in Contact Dialog.
It is still a PRE ALPHA and it is only to show in which direction it could get. There are a lot of things missing it is only for you to have a look. You try this at you´re own risk!
ATTENTION: You can not send SMS at this point. I have disabled that for Safety!
Sorry, I´ve no programm to make Screenhots and I found no way to make Screenshots from the DeviceEmulator. Any Idea?
Please give me a comment about you´re opinion. What do you need in this Application, is it a good way to write SMS, ect...?
Thank you so much
Dragi

I have a program called Weather Watcher Mobile. It's a great program that I would love to see a Today Plugin incorporated. I have seen some developers on these forums who have made Today screen plug-ins. How would one create a Today Plugin for an established program? Thanks.
Here is an excellent article that helped me wright my plugin:
http://www.microsoft.com/mspress/books/sampchap/5461a.aspx#100
The problem is from what I can see on the developers site (is this the one you are talking about http://www.singerscreations.com/RSS/Posts/339.asp)
he programs in .NET
There is no way to create a plugin using .NET languages, only using C / C++.
In any case I believe it would be best if you referred this developer directly to the forum so he can ask the specific questions he has himself.

Ok, my mistake, I should have said There is no way to create a plugin using only .NET languages."
I forgot I read about something similar briefly - using a .NET dll and a C++ dll together.
Thanks. I'll direct him to this thread.
Is it possible to write a today plugin, the text on which can be controlled through command line or any other way ?
Plugins do not except command line - they are dll not exe files, but there are plenty of other ways to control plugin text.
For example I am going to release a plugin soon that takes a string from registry, displays it and checks for changes couple of times per second.

When...when...when....????
I am planing a very nice plugin but it is really difficult to make one. All examples on the net are for evc++, I did not find a single sample for Visual Studio 2005.
If u are making something like this, it will really save a lot of my time.
Soon I hope, but it will be evc++ as well. I hate VS 2005, its fat, slow and costs a lot.
But if you are using c++ (there are samples on MSDN for c#) it doesn't matter what compiler the project is for, just use the source files.
See the links in previous posts for detailed explanations.
I am currently working on a new framework to use on top of CF, that allows for fingerfriendly development on Windows Mobile phones, and would like to hear your thoughts and ideas (of cause this is a really early version).
The idea is to mimic the way that you create winform applications, but since it is based on the GDI+, you have the possibility to use it all the way from throwing a few buttons in an application, all the way down to just using the graphical manager to take care of load balancing.
Have a bit more details on my blog along with the first sample video showing the scroll feature, and the transistion effect between panels (basicly the same as forms).

So if there are any features that you would like, please write me.
Hey there,
I tried to create an app with the HTC One M8 and it´s Duallens "depthsensor".
The problem is that there is no way to activate the second rear camera in android.
In android.hardware.camera package there are some hidden methods like : enableSubCam...so I´ll tried to use java reflection to activate these SubCam, but it doesn´t work at all...
I need some depth information in realtime for my application and I thought with the new DualLens this would be possible.
Also I tried to understand the HTC DualLens SDK, but all this stuff works on an jpg format and without creating an new depthMap
So what do you think is the best method to access 1. the second rear camera or 2. directly some kind of depthMap with help from HTC SDK?

i remember there was an app (german) that take 2 pictures at the same time from both rear cameras but the app was just to show that both work so it was like open app>automatic capture>save both pictures>exit.
got it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722352
yeah I´ve seen this app, but it´s hard coded on the linux kernel ...
and like I said I´ll try to calculate the depthMap in realtime, so a continious Depth-Matrix with opencv for example and not just a jpg
isn´t there a possibility to access the hardware components of an smartphone and activate them?

Maybe this will help you
Code:
[URL="https://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/opensense-sdk/htc-dual-lens-api/htc-dual-lens-sdk-installation/"]https://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/opensense-sdk/htc-dual-lens-api/htc-dual-lens-sdk-installation/[/URL]
like I said in the first post, I´ve tried to understand the SDK, but in my oppinion it´s not for creating a file...
you´re just allowed to use the already created depth information of an jpg-file...
or has anyone made some other experiences with the SDK?
Have you solved the problem?
Hi,
I have the similar situation and would like to know if you have found a solution to this problem.
I agree with you that the SDK provided by the HTC website is for depth info extraction from already created image. The SDK is not viable for realtime depth processing.
Please let me know if you have the solution for this problem.
Thanks!
