[BUG?] a simple question about contacts - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

are you able to send multiple contacts (vcard) via bluetooth?
Because I can, just the first of the list is sent.

Perhaps not so much a bug as an omitted feature.
You also can't send multiple files via Bluetooth (or IR, for that matter) from the File Explorer.
Anyone know of another utility that can make use of the built-in Bluetooth for files/contacts?

I'm happy this means i'm not stupid
Anyway i consider it a bug because you can't send multiple files but the GUI permits you to select multiple contacts to send :?

Thanks for quick reply.
Well I know a lot of people are using their pda's and cell phones to send msg's, files etc via bluetooth.
On pda's it's quite easy - just open bluetooth window and you can manage almost everything.
But on MDA 2 there's just "Blue tooth parameters" in control panel and that's all.
Well it's ok with handsfree, it works, but how to work with other devices?
Maybe there's kind'a application for this performance?
with beam you can already push and pop files back and forth between the xda2 and other bluetooth able devices
but text msg is another thing
if other people with pocketpc's got some std and some program it's just a matter of getting the program from them and putting it on the xda2 and it would work xda2 is a pocketpc like all other pocketpc's and share programs with them just like pc's can run the same programs
of cause maybe some of those programs would not work with ms's bluetooth that xda2 uses

You're right.
I've tried the program BuzZone (www.buzzone.net), but when it's being installed from PC to MDA2, there's appearing an error message on MDA screen at the end of setup: "Cannot find BT CE file" or something like that.
What is "ms bluetooth"?
it's the bluetooth stack that ms made that comes free with winCE
hp and other pda makers use a 3th party bluetooth stack which is much much much better
You can always send short messages in a contact's name field. This is known as 'bluejacking' - sending anonymous messages to strangers via Bluetooth.
For more information visit:

This works!!
The title of the message is the Contact's name, The message itself is the Contacts Notes
How to:
Create contact with name / notes
Save
Tap it
Tools / Beam contact
Select the victim device
What we need is something like SMAN on the Px00 that could scan for 'victims' and automatically send the contact to them.
SMAN also logged succesful 'hits' - great fun for the supermarket!
bluejacking
one other thing that is needed desperately is some way of making sure that you only bluejack good-looking people not people that look like me

How'd you get the option to beam to bluetooth. Even with mine turned on I only can beam via infrared.
It should also say searching" whilst it scans for bluetooth receivers can take a couple of minutes to locate other phones

Two Messaging Issues

Has anyone else experienced any of these problems:
1. Outlook E-Mail (via ActiveSync) doesn't save a copy of sent items even if you check the box to do so in the settings. Very annoying when you want to keep track of what emails you've replied to on the JAM. Any idea how to fix?
2. Certain binary SMS messages don't show up on the phone. It seems that if the JAM doesn't recognize the SMS format (e.g. a vCal or vCard or WAP Push OTA) it simply doesn't even acknowledge the message in any way. No alert tone, no anything, so you never know that a message arrived even if its a type not supported. BTW, i-mate take note: the JAM SHOULD support these formats. They're very common and work on almost all other handsets. They SHOULD be supported.
Any help much appreciated,
Ian
looks like an OS related issue. M$ should have thought of this....

Receiving files (pictures & music) via Bluetooth from Mo

I've looked at several posts on a similar topic but not been able to find an answer.
I'm running the latest Qtek ROM...
My daughter is trying to send pictures to my Universal from her Samsung Z320i Mobile via Bluetooth.
It fails with a message saying unable to retrive service list.
If she trys to send a "contact/vcard" that works
The 2 devices have a pairing.
I'm able to send files to the Samsung with the Beam feature.
I have the recieve all beams option enabled
Looking in the registry the OBEX option is enabled (this is by default in this ROM) the only things that appear against this are vCard & vCal - this is why I believe the contact transfer was sucessful, and I'm guessing why the file transfer fails. Are there extra keys I can add to enable file transfer?
I have a MDA Vario (aka Wizard) as well and I can beam files OK between the wizard & the universal - but you would hope that they would work both effectively running the same software.
I don't currently have another make mobile with bluetooth that I can try.
My wife has a samsung and we are also unable to do it.
obviously the Samsung phone has a forward lock mechanism by Samsung. This prevents it from sending copyrighted material such as ringtones, images, animations, mp3 etc. to other phones.
This was used to be the case a couple of years ago when manufacturers believed they could make us pay money in order to download a wallpaper or a ringtone to our phone. The new Samsung phones don't have this lock.
I believe there is nothing you can do...

How to send AT command from PDA over Bluetooth to "normal" phone

Hi All!
I hope You can help me.
I want to send AT-command from my HTC Universal. I want to send SMS over Bluetooth via my Nokia 6288. I tried some programs. EasySMS is work via Irda, but it freezes my Uni when I try to send via BT. I set Com-port, and when I tap "send" it stop working.
I think You can advise me another progam ( i prefer free). Or something like hyper-terminal in WinXP.
The other problem is I can't set com8, com7, etc. only com4 for Outgoing port to my Nokia in my Universal. And when I set this port in EasySMS it freezes. ( I write it below). But It doesn't matter if I can send the commands in other way.
Sorry my English, I'm Hungarian.

But when I want to connect again the device out of range... It very cool app, I like it.

Well I think you could have tried this, it is very obvious.
In file manager, tap & hold the file and select "Send via Bluetooth".
well, you can create a zip archive using any free tool and send them, I'm currently looking for an app that enables sending multiple files, but I only found old ones that support infra red >.>
it's helpful for sending multiple objects that don't appear in the BT send object menu
[edit] Resco File explorer apparently sends multiple files via bluetooth (sending different types of files at the same time as well), but it's a paid app
Use Dropbox
I've found a workaround... I send multiple photos to dropbox then cut/paste them from dropbox to whatever folder I want. That way I don't use up the allotted space with dropbox. Works for me!
