I've come accross a small problem.
I have upgraded the XDA to 3.17.03 ENG (includes wmodem) and the device will not unlock (using XDAunlock.exe) :shock: . I have also tried upgrading it to the SER 1.2, but that doesn't unlock it either. All I want to do is put my Orange SIM into my O2 XDA, can you help? :?
Funny because the latest ROM provided by O2 from their website www.my-xda.com should provide a network free phone.........
I have an XDA and i didn't need the XDAunlock tool on the latest ROM.

You hsould not need the unlocktools in it to unlock.
Can't think why. Continue persuing, you'll make it. No doubt.

I have upgraded my ATT SiemensSX56 to Pocket PC 2003. Is it still safe to use the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 on this Poocket PC to unlock the SIM?

Thanks for the suggestion. That would have been great if it had worked. I tried to run it but it gave me the error “error getting unlock code”. I think that the reason was that don’t have a Qtec 1010 Rom version 3.16.52. My ROM version is A.30.09 ENG. The reason that I put this post out was that I wanted to ask around a little before I ran the XDA-developers Special Edition ROM v1.2 on my ATT Siemens Pocket PC to see if anybody thought that it might cause any unwanted consequences.
It worked for me
As I just mentioned in some other post, I did just that with Wallaby 5.22. I flashed the AT&T ROM to find out the phone was still locked. I flashed the XDA ROM, unlocked the phone and reflashed the AT&T ROM. I can't guarantee it'll work for you but it certainly did for me.
XDAunlock tool works only with ROMs that has wmodem application (no WM2003 has it). XDA ser v1.2 is a good choice for unlocking, but since you are going to reflash the device then i would recommend TMO 4.01.00 for now coz A30.09 has a very annoying sound issue.

Not true in all points.....
The German 4.00.33 Rom have the wmodem application. But the unlock tool do not work with it.....
Tried it already....

you can't unlock it while you have any WM2003 ROM ... you must down grade to PPC2002 ... SER v1.2 is good for that.
So can't have any solutions to unlock it ?
Cause I doesn't want to downgrade it, it's not a good way to unlock.

I'm new on this forum and I see that there are very knowledgeable about the at&t siemens sx56. I just purchased one, and I intend to use it with my t-mobile service. It is un-locked with the at&t logo but I would like to sign up for e-mail and internet with t-mobile using this phone. Do I need to update/change the ROM as I've been reading on this forum, and how do I change the ROM to a t-mobile? I would also like to know all he things I need to do to make it run wih T-mobile services. Thanks in advance.
There is no need to change the rom, you can manually enter all the settings for your services once you have them from your service provider or from this forum.

thanks, how do I change the settings from At&t to the t-mobile setting. t-mobile will not give me any instructions since the sx56 is for at&t. I would appreciate it if you can provide me the setting or point me in the right direction. Thanks.

First, spend some time reading in this forum and use the search option ... then go to the kitchen and cook 3.17 based ROM ... flash your ROM which will be unlocked by that time ... then cook any other WM2003 ROM to upgrade your xda ... 4.01.16 is very good option

my steps are to:
Get the Unlock Code and also Unlock the Phone
then Upgrade to Pocket PC 2003

Sometimes the XDAunlock tool didn't work for SX-56 especially with A20 ROM ... it's better to flash your ROM using SER v1.2 and it will unlock your xda with the first boot ... then you can upgrade later to WM2003
That did the trick....
A20 seems to be a newer version of 2002 and does not work well with XDA unlock...
for those of you looking to unlock your phones out there...USE THE XDA SER 1.2 (Special Edition Rom)...
It will Downgrade your Rom to version 3 (dont be affraid of the word downgrade, its painless) and once it restarts, it will ask you to unlock, and VOILA... you are ready to roll

T-Mobile customer support won't give me an unlock code so I'm on my own. Can anyone help?

You need an Serial Cable and the XDA Manipulator, or you need to upgrade your ROM to Version 3.17.03. With this ROM VErsion you can unlock your phone using the xdaunlock file....

Have you ever tried reading a bit in this forum?
Just downlaod and install it as exe file, you can use SD-Card-flashing.
Maybe it will be fine for you using the XDA Developers Special Edition ROM, or you cook your own ROM at http://www.romkitchen.de

Lockiwiz can only unlock your Prophet device if your Rom version is 1.XX.XXX. For the new AKU2 ones there is no solution yet.

Ok, had a modicome of sucess with this, converted it to a Imate Jamin and then used the wizard unlocker to sim unlock it. Its works fine for voice but have not got the gprs to work yet. Although i am using a dual sim and this may be the problem.

Has anyone tried the Imei check site (http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m600unlock.php) I know you have to pay for this, but that is still better than having your phone locked to orange (nothing against orange, just that I have an o2 contract...)

If this is the case, then can we use A-Wizard or the hacked romupdateutility to FLASH back to a pre-AKU2 ROM and then use Lokiwiz to unlock the device, and then flash back to a 'latest AKU2 ROM' (Dopod one is latest and greatest atm) and continue to have a SIM UNLOCKED device???

No lokiwiz can unlock the newer version, i have one and its done it fine, the problem is to achieve this i had to convert the unit from orange to either a dopod or an imate jamin.
Once flashed with the new rom lokiwiz quit happily unlocked the sim.
The only problem i have is i managed to disable the gprs connection detection. I think its something to do with the radio update and not quite getting the conversion right. I have been following the instructions from this and other sites and might have made a mistake.

thanks popeyesfx, but which ROM version did you flash to and how did you do it? Was it the new AKU2 Dopod rom specifically?
Did you have to use A-Wizard first to change CID or did you use the hacked romupdateutility to flash the rom from Orange to Dopod/I-mate?

I used the modified update util of the ftp site and then used the latest jamin rom from the ftp site, this updated fine and i didnt get any operator errors.
I then used lokiwiz and it unlocked the sim fine.
just as an aside, the problem with the gprs turned out to be a thing with the orange unit itself. I tried a non flashed on and it has the same problem (doesnt show the connection but will connect to it fine when triggered by other software)
there is another link on here that gives you a full discription on how to convert the unit just cant remember it (old age im afraid lol) :lol:

Now;

1. Copies Cert_SPCS.cab, EnableRapi.cab to spv
2. install in the spv; 1. Cert_SPCS.cab, 2. EnableRapi.cab in order. . .
3. running the LokiwizMsl.bat which give you the code which you enter with not accepted simcard. . . enjoy. . .
