Hi,
I'm looking to buy Qtek S100/XDA Mini/MDA Compact in the EU, would love some recommendations. It is really expensive in Sweden, so I thought of buying it elsewhere.
Thanks!

www.blueshop24.de via ebay.
I bought 4 MDA Compacts on 18th Dec and had them in my hand via ups on the 24th in Spain, and they only charged 20 euros for shipping. Highly recommended
Are they Sim-Locked?
I also bought mine at blueshop24. Delivery was next day (I live in Belgium).
My unit is not sim-locked, it worked within 5 minutes with my Belgian sim card.
I did have a German ROM, but that I changed in English (see other threads here).
How about warranty issues?
1) Lets say you get a dead pixel at delivery? blueshop does not have any return policy, so you''re stuck with it.
2) If the unit breaks, do you send it to Germany, or what? Will the repair shop accept sending it back to your country...
Any tips on a store where they accept paying by credit card? Transferring to bank accounts abroad seems complicated.
Well, I finally ordered from blueshop24 trough ebay. After the buy i went trough the aftershop and after that i recieve this mail:
[email protected]:
quota exceeded
Nice, so now I have no clue whether they have recieved my order or anything. Good start.....
In the UK, there is this:

But I haven't tried it yet. I cant find any reviews of the store online anywhere.

I bought my JAM from them - they were great. I used the online store, but also phoned them to check delivery etc. and ask them a couple of questions about porting my number. I got through to them on the phone on two occasions without being put on hold (which was a minor miracle just before Christmas), and I got the phone next day. Very pleased with their service.
I got my JAM with an O2 contract - 200 mins + 200 texts (100 after 3 months) for £25 a month, and the JAM cost around £150 (can't remember exactly
Cheers,
Simon
I liked their prices for the device, But after 3 months on that O2 plan, you will only have 100 mins AND 100 texts per month, though?
Avoid blueshop24
These people ar retards...
In their ebay descriptipn it says that PayPal is available for customers abroad. Nowehere on their website or anywhere is it specified anything more about that.
So I ordered an item, went to PayPal, it broguht up my autcion, I clicked "Pay", and that was it! Thats what I thought.....
After a few days mailing they told me I had the wrong PayPal email for them, and that I had to ssend it to anther email. (Good job from their side letting customers know this fact,t he correct email is not specified ANYWHERE on their website)
So, I cancelled the payment and made a new one. This caused me to go bankrupt since it takes a couple of days for a transaction to be returned to your account, but the new transaction was withdrawn immediately, of course. Anyway, it's still ok, these things happen.
Imagine my surprise when i 2 days later (today) recieve an email that they have received my payment. Great, I though.
BUT, they want another 9 euros because I paid through PayPal., which once again is not specified ANYWHERE on their site. They did have a like to a page "specifying all cost for our customers abroad", but the link was broken, and they wrote the above info in the German part of the email, not in the english. (great thinking) Good thing i know some German.
This is outrageout, I regret shopping from these people. I do hope they with take back the claim for the extra fee, it's not a lot of money, but it is amatter of principle.
Just wanted to tell you that you should be aware of all this if you shop with hem.

Yes - this is standard on the o2 tariffs for all resellers. For the first 3 months you get double minutes and texts. You need to be a wee bit careful, because some websites advertise this as a "200" tariff (and mention in the small print that it halves in 3 months). Others call this a "100" tariff with a special deal for the first 3 months. Either way, as far as I can tell, EVERY website charges £25 for this tariff whatever they call it. For £30 a month you get a 200 tariff (again with double minutes for three months).
Bottom line: all the websites' tariffs are identical, the only difference is the cost of the JAM (as far as I can tell).
Hope this helps,
Simon

Who?
Blueshop24?
I ordered and paid so that they'd deliver it to me the next week (I was in Germany that week). They took 11 days and still hadn't accepted my paypal payment. Now, I was already back from Germany so I clearly wasn't gonna get it as planned.
I cancelled and went with mobilejoker.de (426Euros)
I bought mine from Dustin in Sweden for 4 636 SEK including a 512 MB SD-card. Then of course, there is the lovely 25% sales tax if you buy it privately, which I naturally did not.
Skip
I should have gone with Mobilejoker too, they seemed more serious. Well, you live and you learn
LeSkip: Well the price from blueshop is 4000 SEK including 17% VAT, and a 1GB SD is around 500SEK with shipping from the US, so....
But ten again, if I bought it from Dustin I would have the phone in my hand by now.
It is now (since July 2004) against Ebays rules for a seller to try and charge extra for certain payment services. They either take the paypal hit themselves, or they dont accept paypal.
I have had barneys with a number of UK sellers over this (they dont seem to understand plain english).
I dont know whether this is an ebay rule or just an ebay.co.uk rule though.

Mobilejoker are shipping mine on Monday.
Because I live outside Germany, there's a 39Euro delivery charge (5 Euros in Germany)
There's a 15 Euro Cash On Delivery charge because it cost more for me to transfer the money internationally(£25 from my bank).
Now, with those 2 charges (64 Euros) and a 1GB SD card (65 Euros), it's still costing me less from mobilejoker (£380) than Expansys (£411 )

Short and Sweet.
I want One and I want one NOW.
If you are anywhere that sells the new XDA2 let me know and I will arrange some thing.
Contract free of corse
Unlocked , sim free, no ties,, JUST IT HAS TO BE LEGAL>
Or I will have you talked to
O2 Shop in Cambridge has some available
(or 1 less when I get there shortly )
[Edit to add - hadn't refreshed the screen since your original post  so didn't notice the sim free bit  ]
Any Idea on cost ?
I am in currently Australia.. But I can have some one pop up there.
Do you know the price and do they sell them contract free. I just want the unit. No plans or nothing.
I'm from France, and I just phone O2...
Unfortunatelly, they want you to have a bank account in UK to sell it to you, (because of the 12 months contract, I think !)
I told them, I can pay the whole thing in one time, but no way ... , and they don't sell it SIM FREE :x , even full price .
So sorry ... :?
£349 & not Sim Free
Hum so maybe not available as a walkin and buy it thing.
And then they wonder why there is such a big market in stolen and simunlocked equipment.
Stupid airtime people.
So to cost it further.
£349 for the phone
£20 x 12 for the contract + £20 for last month
I would be happy at £609. Is that a lot in this world I ask ?
**** I would make that back in the first application I develop for one person.
But still pinching pennys ...
Is there a charge for having the phone unlocked (by O2)
so that it is sim free after the contract ?
I assume that I can just terminate the contract early giving notice and the outstanding amount or let my mate use free time on the Sim for the year.
then cancel it after that.
If we looked at this with a slant.
The Telcos (service providors) are using Phones like the tobacco companies use the cigerette.
Once you are hooked the device is just the method of delivering the services that will generate ongoing revenue from your useage.

Totaly slanted
£15 per month....
Wait to see how long it takes before someone on here works out how to unlock it & save the money
Getting better.
Hum ok calculator out again.
15 x 12 wow thats only £23.50 including vat.
£544 plus unlocking charge.. ?? Looking better.
Has any body ever paid it if so how much was it and is it the same for all phones.!
Steve
dont you have to add the price of sending the xda2 across the earth if it's from uk in a manner which makes sure it's not damaged ?
On US eBay, www.ebay.com, search i mate
98 items for sale "Buy it Now" at US$ 999.00 shipping included by FedEx,
unlocked.
Shipped from Hong Kong (O2 Asia) but seller is in San Francisco.
Seller's feedback looks OK.
Expensive, yes, but if you are rushed...
They are kicking about on expansys now for £572
T-mobile in Germany for EUR 605
And @ T-mobile in Germany for EUR 605.00 simlock free.
But then you have the German language operation system.
1. What a diff between UK & GR ? How come
2. How do we solve the German bit ?
After being shafted by one stop phone shop, i've been searching for the best deal on a UK based XDA II.
I've just found e2save.com who are doing the XDAII with 3 months insurance on o2 200 for £119. Thats the same deal as one stop were originally offering. Other best i can find is £139.
Anyone dealt with e2save.com? They offer 7 day return and price matching as well.
They quote the o2 200 tariff at £30.99, most other places quote £30. Is this because they have bolted on itemised billing?
I think o2's rule now is that contract has to be kept for 6 months isn't it, then it can be downgraded to a cheaper one.
The double talk and text they are offering at the mo runs out at the end of april. I presume that if i ordered a phone before then, but it didn't get delivered and connected until after, would i still get the offer?
Also is it 3 months doubled for the months after connection?
I will get an XDA II one day, if the offer is right!
cheers
The e2save deal sounds (as you say) comparable to the one that I got from OneStopPhoneshop ...
Do a search on eBay for seller "uncle-jamal" and he is selling XDA II's for £139 on O2 400, with other deals available - but not as good as e2save.
The only other seller I found (via this board) was Uplands, but they were not as good (price-wise) either.
One piece of advice - wherever you go, it may be worth making a quick phone call before placing the order to see if they actually have any stock - I gather that O2 cannot get enough of these models at the moment, and as a result I had to wait 3 weeks for mine from OSPS - it was worth it though.
HTH
Mark
When i spoke to mobiles2yourdoor, they said they order them in and there would definately be no problem getting one within 4 days!. I suppose once they've got your money, if there's a delay that's too bad.
I'll phone e2save and see whats what, but i'm sure most places like onestop will say they have them even if they don't just to get the customer.
phoned up e2save today and they said that there was a delivery of the xda II today (thats why the prices have gone up on their site!!)
Well i ordered the o2 100 traiff at £139 plus P+P. They charge £25.99 a month and you get free itemised billing. I pointed out its not free as your paying for it and you can't elect not to have the billing (which other shops allow you to do!)
3 months free insurance as well.
So it should be delivered wednesday, hopefully!
Hi,
Just ordered my from e2save via the phone mine is coming tomorrow, did you notice that the insurance was not being supplied via O2
" 3 months FREE insurance with Allianz Cornhill " with a £50 access and you have to cancel the insurance after the 3 months or the will keep on taking the £7.99 it out your bank
steve
What time did you order yours? I phoned at about 5.30pm, and they said i wouldn't get it until wednesday
yeah the insurance is pretty standard. Its free for 3 months, then you just ahve to cancel direct debit if you don't want it any more. I will probably drop it as its no better than my home insurance.
Shame its not like the old ornage insurance. Free, new phone in 24 hours wherever you are, and no excess, oh happy days
It annoyed me that they changed their offers just because they got stock in!
Hi ordered mine around 3 o'clock (uk) the girl on the phone said they had only just come in, she also said that there was more in stock,
My son who ordered one from Carphone Wharehouse was told that they had no stock on sunday but they shipped it on monday so perhaps a lot of place got some form of stock,
When i spoke to the O2 shop in Derby the guy said that they had a back order list of 10.
steve
Well came today as expected, so i'm happy with their service. Seemed to be the best deal around at the moment. needless to say in a week or so there will be a better one!
I got jerked around by onestopphoneshop too!!!
They accepted my first order on 23/4/2004, asked for utility bills and then just dumped the order without telling me anything, by phone, email, or whatever. I only discovered it when I phoned up to check the order on the 1/5/2004, no reason given. I re-placed the order immediately, but, ahh sorry sir they're now UK£20 dearer AND you have to have a 6 months 02 200 contract not 4 months as it used to be. B*STARDS!
Even then they tried to cancel the order twice as the first utility bill I sent them was a month out of date, and then they lost the second one. It was only frequent and persistent phone calls that got me it at all.
DON'T BUY IT FROM THEM! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Oh, and the free car kit they send you with it? The XDA II is too wide to fit it.
best deals
Guys i went for mobileshop.com
I got my XDA II the next day! with O2 250 + 50 bolt-on for 37 a month
Their service is excelllent and I am a business user
I'm new here (been lurking for a while) and in the process of haggling with my local O2 shop to match my previously bargained Orange tariff to a XDA mini and O2 tariff. Anyway...
Last night whilst browing i noticed that if you Select a XDA mini S on the O2 shop website, instead of being charged £79.99 on all plans, it comes up as £49.99 on all plans.
Hope this is of some use to somebody
Cheers
I thought you had to trade in an old phone to get them for fifty quid, but not if they're making mistakes (again)! Given the number of mistakes that O2 have made recently, I'm surprised they're still in business!
Good find.
Of use to me - many thanks! Kneale
whats the cheapest plan availabe  ?
Just be careful they dont say it was a clear error and charge you £79. Bonus if you get it for £49 but maybe be prepared to pay £79.
Tell you what though £49 for a mini S is one hell of a bargain. Its a fantastic piece of kit. God I paid £50 for my nokia 3650. Also a very good phone in its day and still a good phone to be honest.
There is no mistake now as the price is shown as £49.99
In just a couple of weeks the price has dropped from £99.99 to £79.99 and now £49.99. At this rate it will be FREE in the next 4 weeks on contract.
Me being a student, I ordered it at a price of 54.99 on Friday and just had it delivered yesterday afternoon :?
Now the student price is less than 30 :x . Is there anything I can do about it? Also why is the price being halfed so rapidly?
Return it. Reorder on different card.
I'm yet to receive an order confirmation for mine...

Yeah gutted as I just paid £99 for mine just before christmas. You should get a refund if they drop it within a certain time of you buying it. £50 ive just wasted. Not buying a phone just before christmas again. Still got them back with the exec deal
I got mine instore for £79.99 with £30 back as trade in for an old broken nokia and charger on Data5 tarrif (5Mb data per month only - no calls or sms) at £9.something per month. So basically £50.
The guy in the shop never questioned my choice of data only tarrif. He also trusted me to come back with a mains charger as I took a car one with me.
It also seems they are not concerned about people re-flashing firmware and removing the O2 extended ROM (which makes the phone MUCH faster - I did it today). They will help you get your gprs and wap settings back after the flash
I bought one today - arriving tomorrow. One helluva deal! 49 quid for any tarriff - I went for the 12 month contract on the OnLine tariff £19 a month with 50 cross network minutes, 200 texts and 1Mb of downloads bundled in.
I also bought a 2Gb high speed mini SD from moby memory (http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=miniSD_2048mb_MOBY_001) for £87!
Bring 'em on!!!
... I did give the O2 shop a chance to match this deal. The best they could offer was a free phone on a £70 a month tarriff locked in for 6 months... and they were out of stock.
£87 for a 2 gig Mini SD is VERY cheap! Thanks for the link!
its 50 pounds now :S
Sorry Don't want to mislead anyone. I actually paid £49.99. Next day delivery was free though.
I just ordered one yesterday at 79.99, just seen this price drop info and ill be calling them tomorrow to tell them they best not be charging me 79.99 when its on the site a day later for 49.99!
Sizer, let us know what happens
Will do, just noticed the time of this post aswell. It was about 5-6 hours after I ordered it too!
Any chance the original poster can confirm what time they saw the offer??
Has anyone had their phone delivered within the last few days like me? I had mine delivered on 9/1/05. I ordered it on 6/1/05 though. I am hesitating a return as I do need it right now and have not yet emailed them. How exactly should I word it?
Price match? Re-imbursement? Refund? Don't want to sound like an @$$.
EDIT: actually I am going to email them...here goes nothing
Personally I am going to phone and speak to a person. Email isnt direct enough IMO. I will simply be stating :
That the price was dropped several hours after ordering and if they do not give it to me for the new price I will use it for 13 days and return it on the 14th. There is a 14 day cool off period. I will then inform them that after I have returned it to them they will have to then sell it on as 2nd hand/refurb and that I will place my order again for one at the lower price.
Under these conditions it would be far easier and more beneficial to them to alter my invoice accordingly and save wasting my time and their time/money. And if that fails, I will simply return it and go to another network operator that looks after the customers they already have rather than a company who just likes to get you as a customer then forget all about you.
If anyone does phone them be sure to make a note of the date/time of the conversation and get the operators name in case you need it for future reference. I have been caught out before simply because I could not provide these details...
I'm mainly interested in the UK buyers really, but I guess this thread could be useful for anyone if everyone posts where they got it and how much it cost?
I have a contract with 02 already and so have no choice but to buy the phone sim free. I have it pre-ordered through Play.com so is setting me back £520. This will be the first time I've bought a phone without my provider having given me it for free/nominal fee...I'm having a hard time coming to terms with such an outlay. I could buy a laptop for this price! I still want it though, it looks great!
i pre-ordered mine from clove - cost 482 pound with dhl shippment to croatia.
Will preorder tomorrow from www.digitec.ch.
Cost: CHF 689.- (with renewal of my subscription).

I am thinking of doing the same thing as this would be my first phone sim free too as well as windows mobile and although it is a lot I worked out that it could be cheaper then you think. As I put into the equation that if I got this from T-Mobile I would have to pay about £100-£150 for the phone plus my phone bill would be around £35-£45 per month on an 18 month contract.
But if I bought the HD sim free and changed to the t-mobile sim only deal (£25) I could save around £300 plus having to pay around £100 for the phone it comes to a total of around £400 or even more.
So in a way it does not cost that much but the only problem is paying a big lump sum rather then spread it out (thanks Capital one for your 0% interest until November 09).
My only problem is who to buy from?
I'm probably going to be getting one from Expansys along with a T-Mo web'n'walk contract.
I am in the same boat. I am only 8 months in on an 18 month contract with 3 network. I really want the phone. At £500+ for the handset and then just use my USIM in it (hoping it works and is compatible) seems a lot. However I could by a second contract with O2 and get the phone free on a £35 contract and pay around £580 in total for an 18th month contract overall. So for £80 more I get lots of minutes and texts over 18 months as opposed to nothing at all when just buying the handset. Decisions decisions.
Speaking from the other side of the pond...I preordered mine a month ago from Expansys USA for $885CAN, which at the moment is 453GBP. Not bad considering they want $1100CAN now.
i pre ordered mine from www.pdaplaza.ca last week at $940can , i will get it tomorow, they now sell it for $971 can
Pre ordered mine from here: http://www.algebeld.nl/index.php?Pa...tegories=0&ProductPlusProducts=0&DataBundel=0
I have also ordered an 8GB micro SD from Play, but wouldn't mind finding out if the UK sim free ones come with one, as another guy on this forum from NL said his did.
I've justified the cost to myself by the fact that I have sold two of my old phones and will 'only' need to put £220 to it to make up the balance.
I'll buy mine from o2 germany, because I have contract there. I hope that its coming this week, I'm soooooo curious.. I want it!!! So, I'll have to pay 290€ for it (in terms of contract, with 30€ per month), I think this is ok. Greez, cad^^
Wow! Guys in Canada can have their Touch HD's by tomorrow!!! awesome!
please do post ur reviews here once u get them. I am really concerned about its navigational capabilites, coz of lack of the DPAD.
I want to order the phone in USA, as my cousins staying in Manhattan will have to get it for me in December.
Long wait for me!
PS: PLEASE suggest me some "non-ebay Online Stores" where i can buy the Touch HD, with a creditcard.
Thanks.

If I do go for the Touch HD (considering SE X1 too - difficult choice), then I would probably (at this point) get it from Mobiles.co.uk.
I phoned up and told them that Orange have exclusivity on it in the UK (until 01 Jan 09 I believe).
However, the guy (who wasn't that informed it seemed) said that if it was on the site then it was authorised for sale.
Also, I saw on one website, a recent post said that with tariffs on O2 above 600 minutes, you get free web access as an "O2 Bolt-On". Seems like a good deal.
Unfortunately, O2 itself will have no stock and I've been out of my contract for 1 month now waiting for the X1 to come out. Therefore, I'd have to get a new contract, and a new number (you can't transfer an O2 number to a new O2 number provided by a third party I think).

I decided to go for O2 from mobiles.co.uk, as 600mins with a free internet bolt-on is a sweet deal. Only time will tell if they manage get around the exclusivity deal but I'd rather peel my face off than sign up to Orange's garbage contracts with a data package that is cat vomit.

Has anyone on this forum had a nexus one sent to the UK? I am very interested in buying one. How much did it cost with and without the optional UK charger. I am getting it sent tot he north east. Also how long did it take? Also if anyone on this forum came from an iPhone 3GS how did the battery life compare?

Also how long did it take? Also if anyone on this forum came from an iPhone 3GS how did the battery life compare?

Ordered ~ 3pm on Wednesday, it arrived at ~ 9am Friday morning. Ordered early-mid Feb ~ 10th iirc.
374 was charged to credit card (didn't get the UK charger) but yet to have a form through for import from DHL.
Wouldn't bother with the extra charger tbh, they can be picked up cheap enough in the UK.
As above. Mine cost me £373 (phone inc delivery) and my bank charged me £10 for the conversion - total: £383. I ordered it around teatime last Wednesday and it was delivered this Monday. Not got the vat bill in yet.
Didn't get the charger as it was $19.99 + uk vat. I got one for the HD2, from amazon, at £4.95 with free delivery.
Mine (without rip off charger) cost £412 including taxes.
Ordered on a Tuesday eve, received on the Friday.

Yep ordered on a Sunday night, delivered to my work address (about 1.5 hours north of London) Weds lunchtime, cost £384.81 with charger, no tax bill yet.
Battery life compares well with iPhone 3G, Magic, G1, better than Palm Pre with 1400 extended battery. I am planning on getting the dock when it comes to UK stockists for when I'm deskbound at work (I listen to music most of the day), but I've always done so regardless of phone.
Works well on O2 too.
Mine also came at around £410 including VAT. DHL will charge you separately for the VAT, but the bill won't arrive until about a month later. You might get lucky and DHL might not send you the bill, but I'd set aside the money as it seems the very first UK buyers at release were mainly the ones that got away with the VAT.
Even with the VAT inclusive, totalling £410 it's still alot cheaper than buying from expansys.com which is going for £599 as of today with 7 in stock according to the website.
Edit: You could wait another month and get it on contract with Vodafone if you don't want to pay for it unsubsidied. Or preorder the Desire instead on expansys for £439
ordered mine on a Sunday evening, the phone arrived the following Friday morning as it was slightly delayed at customs.
At the time I paid $577 which worked out to be £386 for the phone including UK charger and delivery charge.
I finally recieved the VAT bill this morning quoted at £60.17.
So all in all toatal costs = £446.17
Lol, YMMV...
I ordered two from the US, first never shipped, PayPal refund (direct from seller) after 11 days. Ordered second (different seller) and an empty box arrived three weeks later (express shipping). I believe it was stolen at customs. Under insurance claim.
Third time I just ordered it from a UK seller, +£50 but I got it in three days, no VAT letters to worry about and no customs delays to concern me.
I wish you all better luck than me. Every attempt I made was with an eBay "Power Seller" with good (recent) feedback for the same product.
So you paid £50 more, and it took 3 days to arrive? Might just as well have bought it from Google
There are no customs delays, DHL take it straight through and invoice you for it a few weeks later. At least that way you get a warranty.
@Rusty!:
I'm not sure I understand your point. Google weren't selling it directly outside of the US when I got mine. Or did you mean something else?
There's no way I would have received it from the US in three days anyway, customs or otherwise.
I have a guarantee, direct with HTC for 12 months.
Could you clarify what you meant?

The majority of the phones shipped to the UK are delivered within 3 days of order. Once dispatched in the US they are usually delivered in UK the next day!

Since this is a 'shipping to the UK' thread, I have assumed you are in the UK. To address your points/clarify what I meant:
Point 1: Google have shipped to the UK since day of release, so dunno what you're on about.
Point 2: I ordered mine late Tuesday, and received it Friday. I think it's fair to count that as 3 days.
Point 3: No you don't I'm afraid. Read the warranty statement, it's first point is that the warranty is non-transferable. HTC already know which Google account ordered the phone, and it wasn't yours.
So what I am saying is you would have been better off in pretty much every way ordering from Google. Still, doesn't matter now can't undo it... both worth mentioning to make sure others get the best deal.
Thanks for the clarification guys, although I wasn't seeking the criticism you so quickly offered!
I'm (ultimately) happy with the course of action I took and the price I paid.
I don't wish to start a debate but you're wrong on the warranty; under law warranty transferability doesn't apply to the retailer/end user relationship, only to end user/end user relationships. As such, the first end user of the device has a 12 month HTC warranty, they can not transfer this warranty.
The retailer doesn't even need to be sanctioned or official as long as they selling original, unmodified goods.

I think I agree (but don't know consumer law well enough..and am no lawyer)
Certainly in Scotland (where I am domiciled) any consumer matter (which a Nexus problem would be) can be handled by the local Sheriff Court if the consumer so desires.
Just because there are clauses in Google's contract doesn't make them right.
Ultimately it will be for a court/judge to decide what the situation.,,
However I'm sure Google & HTC will behave if a professional, competent & legal manner at all times and things would never need to get that far: Aye, right!! (2 positives making a negative..)
Cheers!

Think someone said the refurbishment centre in UK for HTC is based in Milton Keynes
Indeed it is. Turnaround time isn't too shabby either.
