another useless app
http://www.pdaclub.pl/upload/DKtoday_freeware.zip
It shows operator name (only) signal power and unaswered call
why is so difficult to put a custom s**t gif ?
damn
sigh
This is a very unfair post. If the app isn't for you don't use it. No need to be very critical for no reason. The author of this software has been kind enough to post it for free. If there was a charge perhaps criticism could be valid, but there isn't. The only other app AFAIK that does this is PhoneDashboard, which is shareware and levies a charge for the registered version. Personally, I think something like this is useful. Especially if, like me, you have two SIM cards in the phone at the same time.
Please be a little more refrained before making posts like this in the future.
dont really get why people want that operator logo anyway
me i know the name of the operator i'm connected to so why should i put a comercial on my today screen for them ?
most likely for dual sim.

Spot on. I bought PhoneDashboard a short time before seeing the post for DKs free app.
Have just installed a dual-sim holder in my O2 XDA II. My contract is with O2, but in some parts of the village where I live the reception is really poor so I have an Orange PAYG SIM. It's VERY useful to know which operator is active at a glance. I only want to use the Orange on rare occasions.
Operator Logo wont help you with a dual sim when you are abroad.
More important then is to know WHICH SIM is active.
One of the members here (I promised not to mention his name so he can work quietly on this) is currently developing a SIM Swichter app with Today applet that does all this & more.
Should arrive shortly!!!
I am sure a new thread will be started when its available!

hi to all, anyone now a light program that you permit to switch two sim?
i've bought a dual ghost sim but now i don't now anything about witch sim is in use!
someone could help me?
Actually in Hong Kong, it has 2 types of dual sim slot, ie., with STK (Sim tool kit) function and without.
If it got STK function, it will call the stk application automatically on your program area, and u can select which sim to use.
If no STK function, u just need to switch on / off between flight mode and it will switch
many thx but is not what i'm searching..
i'm looking for a today plugin that show wich sim is in use!
Look at this Page http://toosten.de/index.php?seite=sw&id=4
Ist a german Software Developer! I think the Software can get only in German!
I think its that kind of program u search for.
Perhaps u can connect the Developer to implant an English interface.
Take a look at PhoneAlarm (PocketMax ) or PhoneDashboard ( hudsonmobile ).
Phonedashboard shows on wich network you are.
PhoneAlarm shows the strengh of the network signal and if you click on it it shows you on wich network you are.
many thx for all people's reply.
@Switchcorp
this two progrs i've already tested but they are too heavy for my battery they requires too much resource!
@no_Legend
i don't know why this great program doesn' works in my qtek!
hehe I hope in a new version soon!
if anyone as a new idea please post here!!
many thx
I dont know it should work! Some other Qtek User are working with it perfectly. Perhaps it's a problem with your Firmware at the german os it's working great.
I will contact the developer perhaps he can explans us why it is not working with your qtek!
I will post the new information when i get them!

I am using a Magician and a Motorola MPX220, both with a duplicated SIM Card (2 Cards). Of course, not both can be used at the same time, so I find Wivit's Software an easy way to quickly turn off my phone on the magician.
@hrb
so your using 1 number in each phone, albeit the same number? or have you got two numbers on each sim?
Speedn
where to get this ghostsim.
hi,
where do you get this DUAL SIM for the magician???
where do you buy this covering..
can somebody post a link pls..
I've bought this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6414061281&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
This requires you to cut the sims; this was straight forward.
Some people say it doesn't work with UK 02 monthly sims; I have one, and an Orange PAYG, and they both work perfectly in the Magician.
It took quite a lot of repositioning of the little cut sims - the multisim works perfectly in a nokia because it puts pressure on the back of the SIM to keep it in place. The Magician only puts pressure on the very edges of the SIM, so I stuck a tiny bit of blue tak under the metal cover that covers the mini sims, to bulk it out tiny bit, and it works perfectly.
There are apparantely other very similar products eg
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=67966&item=6416678468&rd=1
that use the "STK" menu (SIM tool kit) to allow you to switch sims without switching to flight mode and back. However, I've read a review that says such STK cards suck power more quickly than the others. I can't comment - mine doesn't seem to use the STK menu, but it doesn't really bother me.
I also think that when ebaying, unless you expressly search for an STK card, you will get one that doesn't use it.
So: cutting is no problem, just measure twice, cut once etc.
Requires a lot of careful positing in the Magician, so it's best to have a spare phone (eg a nokia) to test it in to ensure it works first, so you know the problem isnt' the sims.
Also, hah hah, I found that removing the battery from the Magician for more than a few minutes coursed a hard reset, of course, so ensure you backup before doing this procedure cus you'll have your battery on and off throughout.
Good luck y'all!

A little off topic, I know, but has anybody been able to use something like this --> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9104458427&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:UK:1&rd=1 to make a copy of their Exec's O2 sim for us in another phone for situations where the exec isn't appropriate?
It would be handy to have a second phone for use when I don't want to take the Exec without having to keep swapping the sim.
Cheers,
Steve.
these wont work for the exec, because you will receive a 3g card from o2. this package looks like it will only take standard gsm sims ie 2 and 2.5g. also, i think the new sims in general are not "crackable" at this point.
Doesn't O2 offer this as a LEGAL service?
The SIM in your phone is probably legally defined as O2 property, and they've probably not agreed to copying of their product.
If you read all of the fine print, you'll probably see some stuff about this.
But, yes: It's nice..
2 sims - one number
They're working on it.
The ebay item doesn't claim to be able to actually clone a SIM card though, just backup up or consolidate if you have multiple SIMs.

No, but if you can select between 16 numbers to use, then surely, it's like copying 16 sims into 1? Even if I were to only copy 1 sim, if it could act as if it were that sim in another phone, then that would do the job.
Cheers,
Steve.
There is a slight problem in all of this. You cannot have to sims logged on using the same MISDN . So all that would happen is the operator would be alerted to the fact that 2 sims were trying to usre the same MISDN and you would be put into the fraud management system and the phone might be disconnected.
When people scan and clone phones they do not use the phone on standby for long periods of time they simply make a few calls and switch off. Unless they time it when the real user is logged on and tries to make a call it is unlikely to be picked up.
Also it will vconfuse the HLR in the gsm network .
So all in all onot a good idea.
Charlie
Hm? Back home in the Netherlands we used to be able to get two SIMs with the same number from our providers... The idea was, you had one in your built-in car phone, and one in your portable handset; when you got out of the car, switch that phone off, and the other one on, and it'll register the other SIM, and hey presto! You could not use both SIMs at the same time, ofcourse.
I bought one, THEN read up on the facts (doh!)
There is no de-cryption algorithm for any SIM cards supplied in the UK over the last 2-4 years. True, the old SIMs could be copied, but the v.2 system cannot.
Still, it is a nice piece of kit for reading your SIM contacts over USB, and didn't cost a fortune.
I'm actually quite pleased that SIMs are this secure, 'cos I wouldn't want them easily copyable by the bad guys.

In the Nehterlands I know that KPN and t-Mobile offer dual sims, the problem is as mentioned here already that you can not use them both at the same time. Also if you have 3G sim the second sim you get is not 3G. those are the rules by KPN.
I used to live in Israel and there Orange gives out dua sims where you can keep both phones on. On the incoming call both phones ring at the same time and you can decide which to pick up. The SMS trafic thought goes to the phone which was turned on first. The way they are doing this is by giving both sims an extra GHOST number which used to start with a Zero. then what they did was simply forward the calls between two sims. They had a huge blunder though: Forwarding officially costs money but in this case it has to be free, so they by mistake on their first couple of bill specifications posted the forwarding calls with Zero as charge, thus I was able to know what are the ghost numbers and call between the phones completely for free. It did mean that the you could call the the ghost numbers only from those 2 phones and not any other phone, kind of internal cirquit. So we enjoyed it very much since my wife and me just used those two phones and comunications between these two was free of charge.
So as you see technicaly it is possible to make both phones ring at the same time....
Guys,
I am SSOO depressed.
I moved to Turkey for a few months and the the same SIM that I previously used which is local turkish displays NO SERVICE. Even the Orange sim that I have used with my exec in my country AND in this country in my last trip isn't working anymore. I also have my old PDA2K with me here that is working perfectly with all SIMs. It's just that my Exec doesn't work anymore, so it's 100% gotta be an hardware problem.
when I click to search for networks I get the 3 turkish networks. however when i select my sim network or any other for that matter, nothing works. it just gets NO SIGNAL.
I tried to hard reset the device in hope that some program may have causd the problem but that didn't work as well. Even bare setup leaves the phone with no signal.
I may be wrong here, but I think my theory makes sense. I think that the internal Antenna is disconnected or isn't functionning, hence why it succeed to read the very mute GSM providers list but is unable to transmit a signal strong enough to communicate with them.
My O2 exec was bought by a guy who sold it to me from the UK. O2 will never service this machine since i didn't purchase it from them as well as I already flashed my rom and running JJ rom ever since I own the machine which is back 5 months ago.
Needless to say if you peole are like me you will understand my feeling. I feel like an inpotent without the phone and do not like to purchase a cellular phone and go backwards in technology.
If someone can enlighten me on how I may try to fix the machine myself or otherwise someone can fix it for me that would be so great.
In hope for help,
Tommy
Man that sucks, I feel your situation. I would be upset w/o my Universal as well. Here's a link to the service manual:

Maybe you could try disassembling it to check the attennas for contact? To get to the attennas doesn't seem that hard.

Your antenna should not be the problem as you can see the list of operatots on your Exec.
To be shure it is the hardware problem try to do this:
1. Remove SIM card
2. Try to make an emergency call (not sure how :? )
If you succeed in doing the emergency call - this appears to be a network barring problem that mentioned above in this thread.
thank you all for replying to my post !!! this is appreciated.
it seems the mistery was solved, when i talked with a turkish friend before reading your replies. Well the mistry wasn't solved, but i know what it is.
STRANGE country. The Turkish Telecom blocks some machines (IMEI) that you bring from overseas !!!
It's like a gestapo. Truely amazing unbelievable thing.
You see, the Turkish government instructs to block all IMEI that were not purchased in Turkey and use a Turkish sim card. The result is that if you bring you own mobile phone from anywhere in the world into Turkey and try to insert a Turkish sim card into it, the turkish goverment will block your machine! you can't even use your origin country SIM anymore after they do that!!
They Lock the IMEI so that you cannot use it with any cellular provider! Why? Because they assume you're Turkish and brought a phone without paying taxes in turkey. Would you ****in believe it?
I also carry a PDA2K and this one still works with a Turkish SIM, but I guess it may be blocked as well soon. People I talked with told me they have heard of this rule but have never seen anyone get hurt from it by getting his phone blocked.
So if you're a turist and thinks about using a Turkish prepaid SIM or any kind of SIM, think twice. within days, weeks or months, your phone will be useless here. My Turkish SIM card worked fine last visit a month ago, but it doesn't anymore.
Now if I would ask how I could change the IMEI that would be considered illegal because many want to do so because they are thieves, but legitimate people who got their phone blocked by a obscene Turkish laws has nothing they could do about it, even if they aren't Turkisj.
My friends talked with the Turkcell for 30 minutes and there was nothing they could do, they said it's a state issue and that only within a week time it will be in their hands so i would be able to go to their service center and show my passport. What a country!

first off i would like to thank this site for all its help so far , i have installed colonels rom and i am delighted with it , however i have a small question.
i purchased the sprint mogul while visiting the states last week as i needed a pda and it seemed to fit all my desires , however upon bringing it home i noticed that there was no simcard slot so i cant use it here in Ireland (we seem to be a bit behind the times ) spoke to a rep here and i was told the simcard is inbuilt and it would need to go back to htc to be changed , now that isnt really feasible at the moment so i was wondering if it was possible for me to change it out or if that is even possible , i dont mind taking it apart but i can find no info on where the sim goes or if there even is one , sooooooo just wondering is it possible ?
thanks again for all the help i have recived from other threads on upgrading and thanks to the colonel for releasing a class rom

To the best of my knowledge, CDMA phones don't use sim cards at all. I could be wrong.

Uh, for in Ireland you have a paperweight. There is no CDMA outside North America. There is no sim in the Mogul, and nothing in it can be reprogrammed to make it work on GSM. The entire radio portion of the phone is made for CDMA and specifically Sprint.
Sorry, but you'd be better off ebaying it and getting a GSM device.

To my knowledge, this statement isn't entirely true, as I believe that South Korea and maybe China has CDMA networks...but I could be wrong...
Everything else you stated is right on though!
Oh boy.
In a nutshell:
2 major types of wireless protocols:
GSM and CDMA.
GSM is a sim-card based allowing phone portability, and exists on a world-wide market. The sim card contains your identity, and switching it into another phone causes your identity to follow.
CDMA is phone-based, meaning every phone has a unique ID that broadcasts to the tower. That ID (sort of like the VIN number on a car) exists on only your phone, and represents your ID on the network. This actually existed long before GSM and SIM-cards, and is at a bit of a disadvantage because you can't switch phones whenver you want. Your provider has to switch it for you.
Here in the US, we have both CDMA and GSM networks now, however CDMA has been around longer, and so it is still arguably the more common technology. Lately, GSM has been catching up, but over in Europe GSM has always been around and CDMA is virtually non-existant.
Living in Ireland, I beleive that all networks are GSM, which means SIM-card based. So, you probably didn't know that there were other types of technology that weren't compatible! If anything, we here in the US are "behind the times" because we're still using an antiquated ID system as opposed to SIM cards!
HTC makes a GSM version of these devices as well, which you should consider. They are known as the Tytn and the Kaiser (our Mogul/Titan sort of comes in between, although most closely resembling the Kaiser in hardware). Next time you want to buy a phone in the US, make sure its GSM and unlocked first!
Hope this clears things up!
You should have 30 days to send back the mogul and get out of your contract. The phone will not work outside of North America. Take a look at the HTC Kaiser, its also sold as the AT&T Tilt. Its a GSM device that is very similar to the Mogul.
If you told Sprint that you were going to be going back to Ireland, I wonder why they didn't sell you the Samsung IP-830W, which works on the Sprint CDMA network in the states, but can be used on GSM/GPRS networks everyplace else.
If you can't get a full refund, maybe you can exchange the Mogul for that?
I think it's a little behind the times, but the IP830 is a pretty good phone and has a smaller slide out QWERTY keyboard.
thank you for the information , just need to find that damn receipt now and give radioshack a call , see about a swap for the tilt ,
regards
sigghhh
well it seems radioshack cant help . unless i brought it back to the store i purchased it in , and that cant really happen .
anywhoooo thanks all for the help ,
but i have just one other ,
is it possible to synq my titan with another type of phone i.e nokia 6610 and have the titan act as the handsfree ? via bluetooth?
basically like the satnavs where you have the dialer but it uses your phone to connect , seems like a strange request but this would at least allow me to use the phone features
thanks in advance
Hello all,
I've ran into some troubles with my device, since I have it running with a unlimited data transfer flatrate, that sim is blocked for incomming and outgoing phonecalls.
Solution on this trouble should be one of the dual sim adapters, which leads me to another problem. Since it seems to be impossible on my HTC Uni to have two simultaneous active cards running, the data one would be the usual active one for my needs.
But how to get the device automatically activating that sim, while its sleeping on an incomming phone call? Preferably without any costs on the data sim and extra costs on the phone sim either for me nor for the calling party.
Call deflection an possible option?
Since its probably a common issue im ashamed that I couldnt find any solution. Would be nice if I could still get some reply.
Thanks in advance,
Real.

Actually, I don't recall any dual SIM adaptor allowing 2 SIMs online at the same time. Looks like you need a phone able to handle that specific feature.
Your phone is able to handle 2 different lines at the same time ... but on the same SIM card. Some Operators used to provide this type of plan. A plan, 2 different numbers ... But same Operator !

This really sounds interesting, since I've got both of my most frequently used sims at the same provider. (Telefone/- and Dataflat)
Maybe my provider is willing to attach them both sims into one, or else theres still the chance of "doing by self". Another point is that those contracts dont have such a long lifetime anymore, so most likely this will be pretty mutch possible.
Sounds way better than buying a new phone, with the possibility of using two sim cards simultaneously.
Only one thing troubles me, since I've wrote about the HTC Adv beeing the mentioned device while it is Universal. Does that one have that feature aswell? I hope and pray, since this seems to be my last chance of having it more user friendly.
Any reply mutch obliged,
Real.
