Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".

Thank you very much, But I have no idea on how to do that?
Where do I get those files? What is XDArit, nk.nb1 or nk.nbf?
I am sorry, I just never done this before.
Thanks again

Well, after i installed PPC 2003 my PPC would not make calls or sync!!
By the way I tried the .EXE file, What should i do?
Please help..
By the way, do I also have to update the radio driver?
Thanks agian
You are better to leave the radio alone if it works ok now, none of the roms on Lumpi's site contain radio upgrade.

This lumpi guy is a genius; I still hope the PPC 2003 works on my PPC.
Last news, I put 2002 back and it works perfect….Now back to trying 2003
my guide make sure you dont mess with the radiostack and it's even if a bit more complex then the exe a more stable way of upgrading imho

Hi,
Ace site
Used lumpistefan's excellent Kitchen ROM creator but on startup I get an Error box "This program only works with Windows Mobile 2003 (4.20.1081)"
I have used the latest Eng ROM I could find in the Kitchen - put the details in my profile.
I wonder if it is the wm03hotfix (6.50K) in the startup folder? When I run this I get the same error. Should I remove it?
I am a bit new to this amazing device, so bear with me
I can still use the device fine, just this error on warm start.
Thanks again.
most people create a nbf or nb0 file in the Kitchens and do this

Thanks, I am puzzled how your reply helps me with this error, but I am new to all this!
I have successfully flashed the device without the SD card and the phone and PDA all work with the new ROM. The ROM is very nice!
I just went ahead and deleted that hotfix file from Startup and now the error is gone.
What is the hotfix for?
Another thing I noticed is that the close button next to the time at the top right doesn't always display when it should, but it still works if you press there even when it isn't displayed. Also some of the today profiles in the ROM seem to have white backgrounds which stop the contents of the start menu being read. Spiral and T-mobile profiles are OK though
I'm not moaning, the ROM is fantastic though!
Yes, this error is due to the hotfix03 staff ... just delete it and use clear_notify.exe instead ... it will fix this famous WM2003 bug
Hi, I m 1 of the fools, who tried to make a upgrade for my t-online MDA from WIndows 2002 to 2003 - but until now using O2.
After the update the mda does not start anymore. It shows only the startup screen with this data: G32S54, R3.23.11, 4.01.19 - but only with the o2-SIM. Otherwise nothing.
Hope, I could get a little help..
Thanks a lot..

You need to download the rom you require from the kitchen in nbf format, you then need xdatools, using xdatools you then program an sd memory card of 64 meg or greater with the nbf file, place the memory card in xda, push reset with stylus while holding powr button. Push action buton when prompted. Make sure your xda is charged. You should end up with a working system.
One question, did you carry out a hard reset after flashing the rom? This is done by unscrewing the stylus and using the top half to push in the tiny hole on bottom left of your xda, push once, wait one minute, push once more.
Downgrade..
I´m very sorry (or silly..), but what or where is a kitchen?
I made a hardware reset. The only thing, that i could get, is the wallaby bootloader 5.22 with the announcement GSM OK.
a kitchen is where you make your own rom

Hi, fine - but could you hold my hand one more time...
I now have an MultiMediaCard with a file NK.nb1. I start the boot lader, it reports "GSM ok" - thats all. Must I initiate the MMC or do something else?
did you follow this guide ?
because you cant just copy the nbf file to the sd card

Thanks. It works great. Good stuff you made.
The problem was, that the osImage Tool did not find the SDCard correctly, only after a programm restart. Now its working fine.
I will try to upgrade again, proofing wether 02 can work on an updated T-Mobile MDA I.
Thanx a lot.
MDA I UPgrade 2003 mit O2
Also: als Resümee:
Upgrade möglich, O2-Verbindung problemlos.
For interest:
Its no problem to Upgrade MDA I from T-Mobile to Windows CE 2003 - also if you want to use O2.

Then you have to stay at your current ROM. T-Mobile ROMs prohibit flashing via Exe-file, and you get the Error Message....
So only possibility is to flash via SD-Card. As much as i know, you can alos use the XDA itself as Card Reader. Give it a try with the XDA-Tools...

I would like to say that I really love the way that this sight helps people test!! I started with a siemens sx56 to try, gotomypc, over my pocket pc phone. I tried to reactivate it at a cingler store, but they did not want att phones, I guess. So I did the unlockrom that installs 2002 and now my oem 2003 upgrade wont take. I don't care about the the celluler service. However, that would be nice, but I just want this thing to be a pocket pc 2003 again. I looked for a newbie section to post this, but here looked most helpful.
here is a guide how to flash a new rom on a wallaby
