reposting this because the original thread was truncated,
this program will send contact mobile number info thru SMS.
i will be releasing it soon.
Are you trying to say that this can send a vcard (more or less standard way of putting contacts-info in one file, can be read by ie. Nokia phones) via sms just like it allready works with BT?
Should be a Contacts-add-on instead of an extra piece of software.
@edsub
there is already a plugin that can do that but the problem is, its not compatible sending vcard to some of the phones (nokia,moto..etc)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=13545
my application will send the mobile number info with some short note using SMS so the nokia phones or any other type of phone that can send/recieve sms can have it. Ive got Tired of cut&pasting contact info and sending it.
No offense, but next to the fact I think your app really is very useful (for me too!!) I still think it should be a plugin for the contacts app. Can you make the app to behave like a plugin (or am I asking something weird now)?

Wow! This is great Pare!
In relation to this, shall we also expect that thru this app we too can receive Vcards from Nokias? The reason why I'm asking this is because my PPC device can't seem to receive Business Cards from Nokia phones.
My sincerest thanks!
hi guys
i found a app that sens vcards on the net but i cant remember where it was on one of the free ware sites.

Dear All,
i have tired from searching for an application to enable me send a contact details using SMS. after a long search i found a similar application called RJV SendContact (http://www.airfagev.com/forum_view.asp?msg_id=52421) , but it is for smart phones. do anyone know a similar application that can work with our PPC Wizard devices.
Can't help, but i would like one too.
Yet another big shortfall with WM5. I mean, FFS, Vcard's have been a standard feature in mobiles for years.
Hi there.
Try looking/searching for Sunnysoft Vcard. Google it and you will know that it is what you guys are looking for.

Try Vazu.
I used it back about two years ago when they first offered it as a free beta. I used it for a year and then they tried to start charging for it. But I see now that they are once again offering the service free of charge, except for international SMS messages.
BTW, I have no connection of any kind with them, except that I used it for a while.
Good luck.
this is for sending sms for the us, but not Vcards from your device.
I don't know if it's just US or not, but you can upload your contacts (read: vCards) to their site and they will then be sent to your phone via SMS.
That info may be beyond the main page - read through the site and you'll see what I'm talking about. I used it about two years ago when they first established the site to send about 200 Outlook contacts from my PC to a Motorola T720 (Ugh 0 what a dog that phone was!)
OK - I copied the link directly to the page that explains how to import contacts from Outlook, Outlook Express, Apple Mail, or Ximian Evolution (Whatever that is) for transmission directly to your cell phone:
https://www.vazu.com/help/import_contact.php
Many Thanks
Many Thanks for your effort, it can be a replacement
I use this small program. it adds "Sens as Vcard"to the contactsmenu, when you hold your stylus on a contact.
And it recognises Vcards when you recieve them.
I don't know where I found this so I attach it to this post, I hope this is not Illegal. Otherwise Google for vCardforminiS.cab
good luck
Great App, but i google for it i did not find anything concerning this app, anyway , thanks alot
I could not find it with google eather, sorry for the wrong tip
o2 sms has this feature
The O2 SMSprogram has this feature. Someone on this forum posted the version that can be installed on the Wizard. I tried it once but found it a bit slow. Then again I was running the original Cingular Rom which sucked big time. Search for the thread and try it out. The only drawback is that the application does not eliminate the messages from also showing up in the default WM5 messaging application.

I tried installing it in my phone. It says Installation unsuccessful. Am I doing anything wrong ?
Hi guys im fairly new to this site but was hoping somebody could help me out. I actually work in the wireless industry and I constantly need to send text messages to multiple people at the same time. Is there an app or plugin that would allow me to make sms groups instead of having to add recepients one by one? thanks in advance , sheemy
i would like to also
i have searched in this issue many times but i did not find any solution, i come over this issue by using jeyo mobile extendor, that enables me to send and receive sms from my pc using outlook, so i view the contacts by group and select all contancts in the group and from outlook i press the buttom of send sms.
but i do not think this will help you cause you are working in a wirless enviroment as you mentioned. i will be happy if we find another solution.
This app will be for all wm devices.
This is an ongoing project that is in need of some of you guys expertise. The rom of the treo 750v has been dumped and is in need of hacker and developers. The treo 750v has features that NO OTHER wm device does. Like the threaded sms messaging, which is sms in a chat style form.
http://www.palm.com/sg/products/smar...messaging.html is a little more about how it works and what it does.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279758 is a thread in the xda-treo forum, but I feel need to be here due to the fact that it will be for all wm devices and is in need of developers and hackers.
Attached is the rom dump.
Thanks, Cody
in many countries you pay pr. sms much more then you'd pay to send text over grps so for most ppl msn, skype or other IM clients would do the same thing only much cheaper
I am really not sure what the hype is about. Haven't used SMS in a long time a with 100MB data package, I have to agree with Rudegar even the built in MSN messenger is better.
Any way I thought you should know that what you posted is not a ROM dump and cannot be used to extract the app.
Interesting you say that. If you have kids sms messaging is almost a requirement. It is extremely popular with the younger generation. I find myself using it more and more. I have friends that send over 3k sms messages in a month. A threaded sms app sure makes it a much better experience.
The rom dump thread was moved by someone over to the treo section for those wondering where it went. The dump is on the ftp server.
ftp.xda-developers.com
userid: xdaupload pw: xda
file: treo750vrompartial_bcaslis.zip (dump of Part00, Part01 and Part02 partitions)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279758
I played with the rom dump yesterday. The messaging app does load, just seems to be missing some resources and/or registry entries that I'm not prepared to import right now (test machines all being used already).
It also appears to be fixed at 240x240, although that can probably be fixed later.
The rest of the rom - doesn't contain many intersting .exes, but I know hannip is interested in a number of the other devices and drivers installed. They don't appear to be device specific (c.f. many eten files are).
In the UK, data contracts are very expensive, and you get loads of SMS bundled in your contracts, so SMS makes sense. I don't IM from my phones. But both have their uses.
But I still can't see the fascination with threaded SMS. It'd be quite straight forward to program even if the treo app can't be sucked out.
V
PS Whoever dumped the roms to begin with, many thanks!
However, we may need to get an overview of the databases on the device as well, in case there are any custom databases. The speed dial plugin that has thus far been elusive relies on a call db. Either a device backup (using sprite etc) or a database dump would be useful to check. Just a guess, might lead to nothing.
Thanks vijay for all of your assistance! Good to hear that the sms app loads. I've been trying to get the a2dp dll's to work on my treo 700wx and 700w devices just to get my feet wet. Having some issues getting the dll's to load, but with your help I might figure this out yet.
The excitement for the 750 sms app over the other threaded sms apps out there is the clean integration with the os and today screen. I've tried other sms threader apps and they are buggy, don't grab messages when the pda is suspended, and leave copies of sms messages in poutlook. The one from triangle powers is a .net app and loads extremely slow because of it. It is expected that the palm written app will solve all of these problems. Plus it handles mms pictues, audio etc.
i dont say i dont use sms i just say i use sms as sms's as in short message service msg's
not as chat because i dont see the point of using it as chat
of cause if you dont pay pr. each sms
and want to chat with somebody who dont have msn it's usefull i guess
but another issue is the delay if that person is on a different network then you heard that compeating phone companys are not always too snappy to route to eachother

Well, I'm someone who wants the SMS chat program badly.
Understand, it's not so much that you use like an IM program, you don't.
This is just a method by which to organize your SMS conversations e.g. say you and your friend over the day send back and forth to each other 20 messages, all releated to the same thing. Now throw in 15 more random SMS from other peopel in the same day. Your inbox would be a mismash of 20 something messages (assuming you don't delete every single one, maybe there is important info you need).
This program would "group" your SMS into a single "chat style thread", like and IM history would. You can then just delete the entire thread at once when you are done with it. It's also nice to keep that previous information handy, especially if your discussing plans, information, phone numbers etc. You just scroll up to find it again.
If you're a heavy texter, this is a great way to organize your back-and-forth conversations. It's not an IM replacment, so don't think of it as that.
In my case I use it as a compliment to AIM. I have AIM forwarding all of my IM's to my cell phone when I am away. That way my friends and family can msgs me anytime anywhere. My phone/pda can remain in suspend mode conserving the battery and I still get my IM's. I can reply to them just like an IM session. No need for the AIM client on my phone.
The best thing about using sms over an IM client is that you can communicate with anyone that has a cell phone. You don't have to tell someone to register with an IM server to send them messages. It works in suspend mode. With a nice sms chat app the only advantage an IM client has over it is the messages are more instantaneous. But for phone use that is acceptable imo.
Of course this all assumes you don't have to pay on a per sms basis.
Hi! theloanranger said he extracted the 750v threaded app already. It's at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1035112&posted=1#post1035112
Can somebody try it and post the screenshots please? I'm so looking forward to using it with my Pocket Loox T830 (not arrived yet)
Screenshots/Need some help!
Screenshots are found here:

NOTE: Some of us are having issues. We CANNOT send an SMS to an email address. We get an error message:
"Could not send message. The message center number or the email center number is invalid. Please contact the wireless operator."
Now, in the SMS app, if you go to Menu --> Options --> Advanced tab
Network Configuration/Manual/Edit...
You'll see spots for "message center number" and "email center number" and both are blank. When you put in a number (such as found here: http://www.smsfre.com/SMS-Mesaging-Centers.htm ) they do not stick after hitting "OK".
Any help/ideas?
Hi! does anyone knows where I can find an applications that send a large amount of SMS preferably flash SMS (the one that appear and delete them self)? I need it because I got free SMS on T-Mobile and I have WePay on H3G so each SMS I receive I earn 2p. So if I send 500 SMS I make £10. I painfully done it manually but and it is working!!! any help? thank you
Any one knows??? I'm still looking thanks
I would be surprised if anyone here is going to help you find a way to spam SMS messages for cash.
Hi, not sure if this will help, but take a look at this.
http://www.shop.avanquest.com/usa/prod.php?pid=2486&tr1=&tr3=www.google.com.au
i use to use the motorola version on my v3. It was good at spamming, not intentionally ofcourse. After sending 1 sms I left my phone attached to the computer. upon returning to the comp i found that it had sent the sms over and over and over and so forth.
to Doom Tints:
My aim it's not spamming but gain some free credit!!! what's wrong with that? I'm not breaking the law nether the network rules... please read here http://www.three.co.uk/news/h3gnews...llcid=1019745742912&cid=1137675159353&index=1
I got free messages that I never use on my T-Mobile phone. This could also be useful to others in this community too... Don't you think?

Thank you for that but I Don't like motorola phones and their applications! I have found a freeware for nokia symbian phones that would do the job... but before I buy one I would like to use my wizard or my hermes to do the job...
Quick clarification please.
I have been used to sending contact details as an SMS message.
When I click send contact by message I get the option to send as SMS or MMS.
I have tried sending as SMS but receivers either say they get nothing or else an empty vcard.
I am resigned to having to send any contacts as an MMS attachment?
Having played with this extensively this morning I find that sending a contact via SMS either:
-nothing
-blank email
-email with vcard containing my details arrives
Need to send contacts via MMS - this way it sends a vcard which can be imported by the recipient
Hmm... I at least have the same problem but it's on both SMS and MMS. Recognizes the vCard, but unable to open it.
I still occaisionally get problems.
Send a number to a colleague last week by MMS and they couldn't open it. I tried opening my own attachment and it tried opening it as a video!
It seems to be working if I'm sending it to myself, no difference if SMS or MMS. The problem is that I don't have much use of sending contact information to myself.
Those I have been sending vCards to use Nokia phones.

My Nokia never understood my Sony phone either (neither my X1 nor the non-Winmo prior)
Yep, but at least sending vCards to Nokia phones worked with my TYTNII without problems!
Maybe I have to test and try to send vCards HD2 -> TYTNII later today.
Working
Hi guys,
just tried it and for me its working fine.I sent it from my HD2 Leo to my work phone Nokia.
Only problem what I can see is I select only one phone number and nothing else but received also extra information like birthday,anniversary,..
good evening chaps
this may be worth looking at as it solved my problem of sending multiple contacts in one go.
vCard Expert from windows phone marketplace let me save my contacts into a file that i sent as an email attachment. Also tried vCard manager which didn't work very well.
any solution yet? phones from 10 years ago can do this easily.
i don't know the matter with sending 'phone' contacts, but you can send the numbers stored on your sim card by SMS.. the recepient will get the sms saying that a contact no. has been sent (no phone number is displayed), but when the recipient presses the accept button, the contact no. gets saved into the list of the recipient's contacts.
but then you know, sim contacts have only the phone no, cant store much detail on sim.

No, at least I haven't got any solution for the problem.
In my opinion it should be simple feature that should be working all around, but apparently not...
