whats the little hole in the back of the imate near the camera lens??
If you are talking about the imate PDA2k, then it is a port for an external antenna.
external antenna for....?
better reception for gsm i would guess

Guys,
I have a MDA Compact - one of the earlier ones with the v1.00 bootloader. I've got a problem with the reception on the phone.
I've tried all the radio stacks, and with all of them reception goes to zero bars when on a moving train for example. by contrast my C500 (typhoon smartphone) works perfectly, with much better clarity.
I've also had the back off to make sure that the antenna is making good contact with the gold pads on the mother board.
Since my HTC smartphone seems to perform much better in terms of reception and sound quality than my MDA compact, can I conclude that I need to send my compact back for some sort of repair?
Those of you with a magician - do you get decent reception most of the time? is the singnal strength of your compact comparible to other phones, or is this just a comprimise of having a phone and a pda combined?
Thanks in advance....
TJ.
I know people with a pda with GPS receiver built in, like the Yakumo or the Mio168. It's great that you don't have to bother with charging a bluetooth adaptor or getting connection and it's more compact.

At the back you have a small metal plate that you can turn up as the gps receiver.
It would be great, an XDAIIi like PDA Phone including an integrated gps receiver and wifi! The receiver is above at the back (where the lens of the xdaIIi is), i would gladly give up the camera with poor quality for this built in receiver. I just downloaded pugs camera rom update with better cam, but nothing compares a real cam with flash. So better off with a built in gps receiver I find.
I wonder if there are any PDA phones like the XDAIIi with wifi & gps receiver integrated yet? Maybe a new future Qtek? Would be great!
This would be the only pda phone wich I would give up my xdaIIi.
Anyone knows this dream pda-phone exists?
Answer
Its coming up!

Wrong answer no GSM integrated!
You've got it wrong mate, it had no GSM
I mean a XDAIIi like with built in GPS.
So PDA+GSM+BUILT IN WIFI+BUILT IN GPS
This one isn't in the range of PDA Phones, it's just a PDA with built in GPS and wifi. My friends have a Mio & Yakumo also just PDA with GPS without phone pity enough. So still no all in one solution.
XDAIIi still comes closest exept for the external GPS receiver.

No Wifi integrated still not satisfied
Yeah but still no wifi included
I worked with SDIO Wifi cards in past on XDAII but don't like them, better everything integrated, more compact & less trouble.
I hope very soon a release of a PDA with GSM GPS WIFI integrated.
They may keep their cams bad quality, never use it.
They I will put my xdaIIi on ebay
What about something like ETEN G500 ?
Don't see wifi specifications ?
Hi,
Thanks for the tip, but no wiifi integrated is not interested for me
Maybe i'll have to wait for the new qtek

Hi,
Does anybody know, or has anybody tested, the I-Mate JAMin (etc) in the THB Bury car cradle for the I-Mate JAM? The dimensions of the two devices are the same, and the USB, headphone socket, and external antenna connector all look to be in the same place.
Just wondering if anybody has tried this setup.
Cheers
Paul
THB Jam kit
It doesn't work out of the box. There are some grooves on top of the JAM that aren't on the JAMin and that's what the THB kit uses to retain the JAM. You may be able to adapt it. I'm using the THB Blueadapter and it works well, albeit without the external aerial connection.
I am using my THB Bury Jam cradle, and can confirm that it works fine.
Although it does not seem to engage the aerial connection as well as it did with the Jam, on my S200 the connection seems to be slightly higher, only possibly by half a mm.
You also need to use the additional self extracting file from THB to get the hands free.
Also the annoying echo is no longer there that I got with my Jam.
Hope this helps.
James
Interesting
I must have another look, unless there is a subtle difference between the JAMin and S200 cases. It certainly didn't seem to work that well in the shop, with the little bumps deforming the case. Thanks
Interesting
On my S200 the two little grabs on the THBury holder seem to sit nicely where the SD card recess is. Please see attached.
Cheers
James
This is a thread from a while back. Has anyone been using the Bury car cradle (on their website they show it as the MDA compact holder).
I'm still looking for a real (complete) carkit (not just a cradle with loading capability) and so far this is the only one I can find. I really don't want to combine a cradle with a BT speaker system.
Works with minor tweaks
I have the THB Uni8 cradle for the MDA compact running with my neo.
I only had to do some minor "dremeling" do not get my neo scratched when removing and mounting it again and agian. It is just a five minute job, even if you have two left hands like me.
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect and external aerial to an o2 atom to improve mobile signal? I live in an area with poor reception inside the house there is not reception. Does the genuine O2 Bluetooth car kit improve reception and or can you connect an external aerial to it? Any help would be great
Hi everybody
I live in a VERY poor signal area and want to get an antenna, shove it in my loft and attach my p3600 to it to (hopefully) get a signal!
I cannot find a p3600 specific external antenna adapter, but can find ones for many other HTC models, for example here on ebay!
Does anyone know if this would be compatible with the P3600 and if not which one would be?
Thank you in advance
