If you're looking at the genesis then the Phantasy Star series is the de facto Jrpg for the system.
Warsong (Langrisser in Japan) and Langrisser 2 (translated ROM) are awesome turn-based strategy games on the Genesis with heavy RPG elements. Shining Force 1 and 2 are likewise turn-based strategy games with heavy RPG elements in them for the Genesis. For a pure RPG with turn-based combat, I echo the Phantasy Star 2 suggestion. Phantasy Star IV is very similar to PS2 and both are classics. Phantasy Star (the original) is awesome and came out on the Sega Master System. If we get Sega CD emulation on the MD.EMU app both Lunar games are incredible. They are traditional RPGs with turn-based combat systems.
What am I the only one playing the genesis version of star control?

It works fine for me.
Maybe you have a dodgy rom?
Try another. Maybe another country. Failing all that you could try TigerGBA emu.
But it works for me on gameboid for sure.

Best emulators[ Droid x]

I've recently started to use emulators to play games on my phone. The ones I've heard the most of are the emulators made by Yonghz on slideme.org. some if the games are a little Kathy, and if course this is expected. But, what I was wondering was if there was an emulator optimized for the Droid x, or ones that run smoothly on Droid X

Emulator is probably your best bet. It should be a lightweight game so anything from SNES, GBA, and possibly PS1 should run perfectly.
Did you try Krakoid game already?

'slide me' marketplace has the latest n64oid. Its a paid version and works with all my games.... unlike the old version I downloaded from the original marketplace. Works great and you can also add hi Res texture packs.

Best emulators from their category:
Nesoid - nintendo emulator (bt/wifi multiplayer option)
Snesoid - super nintendo emulator (bt/wifi multiplayer option)
N64oid - nintendo 64 emulator
Fpse - playstation emulator
Gameboid - gameboy advance emulator
Gensoid - sega genesis emulator (bt/wifi multiplayer option)
The better device u've got, the better chances for fluid multiplayer game because it requires more cpu power to emulate game and sync connection at the same time.
