hey, can someone help me out here...im going CRAZY!!!
I'm running on Vista, Outlook 2007, WM6 PV3.
I get this error message on Windows Mobile Device Center:
View status%ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop.
I've been able to sync just fine but for some reason, I tried today and I got that message. I restarted to phone and computer, deleted the partnership and created a new one. It even erased all my contacts and calender data on the phone. Anyone know how I can get it to sync again without un-installing outlook?
On my old phone (Nokia) i could sync my contacts into Windows address book on my laptop. Now I've got the Vario2 and vista on my laptop the sync will only let me download my contacts into microsoft outlook- which I don't have and do not want to pay loads more money. How do i back my contacts up or get outlook free
I recently found a program called "PIM Backup". It allows you to back the data up to a file which you can then copy off.
Try looking here or off a similar thread for the download link -

Hi.
Have a similar problem
Using Outlook Express for Email and instead of MS Office / Outlook we use Open Office [its free ]
Found a link to connect O.E. YET to try it, but it is ...
http://www.reunion.com/site-root/download_reunionforoutlook.jsp
Also if you know of a calendar plugin for O.E., please post it
i use Jeyo Mobile Companion, brilliant for backing up contacts, sending SMS via pc.
Its different to some others in the fact that you compile the sms as you would an email but it sends it via the phone, so no internet connection needed.
Its brill at work, save "un-cradling" then reply/send sms then cradle, its all done with a swift alt-tab. heh
Alternative to ActiveSync
I haven't (yet) tried it but there is a project called FinchSync (http://www.finchsync.com) which claims: "FinchSync is a tool for synchronizing contacts, appointments and tasks from Mozilla email and calendar products with a Pocket PC or SmartPhone."
If anyone has any hands on experience with this program I for one would be interested to hear about it...?
you could set up a mail2web account which is push email and has a outlook style web based interface allowing you to sync everything contacts, calendar and tasks Did i mention its FREE. www.mail2web.com

You're using Vista? The WMDC will let you Sync your phone with your Vista Contacts - no problem - infact you should now also be able to Sync your mail with Windows Mail and if memory serves your calendar with Windows calander - all things that with XP you had to have Outlook to do!
EDIT
Sorry - seem to have spoken to soon. The beta version of WMDC allowed for Syncing with those programs - I always use Outlook so I haven't even really looked at those settings since - it appears that it was something they supported in the Beta and dropped from the final edition which is quite unfortunate! (probably just trying to sell more copies of outlook). A free work around might be to use Microsoft Live Mail e-mail client (Not Windows Mail) and then install the windows live messenger and set it up to sync your contact details with Live Messenger and then the Live Mail client should then have a synced version of your contacts - just another idea - sorry bout that!
Out of the blue I am getting an error when sync with ActiveSync:
Support Code: 86000107
I have surfed all day and have found nothing to fix this issue. Are there other apps I can use to sync with Outlook?
I do not sync Exchange
In Outlook all I sync are:
Contacts
Calendar
Notes
Task
Ewallet
Pocket Quicken
No emails
What other sync programs can I use with Outlook & the device?
Mod Edit: Moved from Titan Upgrading
Not aware of any other app that can sync. But you can try the following to fix this issue:-
1) Try deleting the existing partnerships in active sync (Open activesync on your PC - File - delete mobile device. Reconnect and try again
2) If that does not fix the issue, uncheck all the sync items and add them one at a time back with a sync in between each addition. Sometimes your tasks folder or calendar can cause this issue.
This is also a know issue with Microsoft so if the above doesnt help try searching for this error code at the MS forums or try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2100290
Visto Mobile will sync with Outlook and Exchange. There's a personal and a corporate edition:

You didn't happen to have sync'd an email with an attachment just before it died did you? Or does the very next email in line that would have sync'd have an attachment? If so let me know what kind it is. We ran into a similar error (Wish I could remember if it was the same exact # right now) at work before.

I have ActiveSync 4.5 on WinXP SP3 on a Dell Precision.
My phone is a Samsung Epix with Windows Mobile 6.1
Up until a week or so ago I was able to synch my Outlook contacts, calendar and tasks with no problems (either USB or Bluetooth).
The first problem I saw was that when I went to sync ActiveSync would just keep trying to sync over and over for hours and never stop.
I looked at the log on my phone and it seemed that there were some problems with some recurring appointments. I ended up doing a hard reset on my phone and reinstalling ActiveSync.
Right after doing that there was an error trying to sync the contacts on my phone to the PC (the pre-loaded contacts *View Data Usage, *Pay My Bill, etc..)...soooo, I deleted those.
Now I try to sync and it tells me that the phone is synchronized, but the phone has no contact or calendar or task info...so nothing was sync'ed!
If I delete the connection and then re-do the sync ActiveSync displays that it's synching 0/1549 for the Calendar, so it sees that there are items it needs to sync....but after that it just says it's synchronized.
I uninstalled ActiveSync again and deleted the Windows CE Services nodes in the registry, and the Active Sync folder in Program Files and then re-installed...but the same thing happened. So I've reset the phone, re-installed ActiveSync...but I still can't sync. What else can I try?
Thanks
Not sure exactly how but it's working right now. After doing everything I mentioned above I noticed that Outlook on my PC had hundreds of bogus contacts and tasks created. I deleted these, then I went into ActiveSync/Tools/Options and de-selected then reselected Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks and was able to sync...
heres how to fix this problem:
You get your windows mobile phone... Then you Grip it tightly.
Then you throw it at your Windows Xp computer.
LOLZ, jokes....
Okay forellzz.
To fix it, just uninstall Activesync and try reinstalling until it works.
I had the same problem
Hi,
I have an HD2, and use Windows 7 on my PC.
I am now out of work, but at my last job they let me sync my work emails with my device via exchange. Obviously now I've left, the exhcange server can't connect, and I want to get rid of the annoying "enter your password" dialog I get now and again.
If I remove the exchange server from ActiveSync on the device, it will delete all the emails, but the emails I have I actually want to keep.
Any way to download them to the PC via sync, or a pst or something?
Hope someone can help!
Lee
i believe you can use a program called pimbackup, but have you tried changing the sync settings on your computer from phone->computer and then just sync your phone with outlook at home this may put the emails directly on your computer.
