So I have an ipaq that I would like to use to connect to my XDA as my phone. However, I am not able to do that. I have a feeling the problem would be mutual if I try to connect my laptop to my XDA as well. I'm not too keen on this bluetooth stuff, so if anyone would like to enlightment me on the subject?
I was able to connect my XDA to my iPaq, but there is nothing I could do the other way. I rather have my ipaq connect to my xda and use the phone, just incase my wife wants to surf the internet while we are travelling.
I hate lending my expensive XDA to my wife, who knows what might happen. She can drop hers all day long, lol.

I was reminded that I closed a thread because of fear of OS-wars, thus robbing the original poster of an opportunity to get an answer. Here's another try....
(I know that the XDA2 offers the Wireless Modem via serial cable, IR, USB and Bluetooth, but have no clue of Mac settings...)

Hey folks. I run a Mac Powerbook with OS X. One of the things I love about my Treo is the fact that I can use it as a wireless modem over USB. I see that this isn't possible with the XDA, and since I don't have a serial or IR port, I wouldn't be able to use the serial cable solution. I've read that you can use bluetooth on some phones to establish a wireless modem connection - do you think this might be a possibility with the XDA II? If not, will a USB/serial adapter let me make a connection via serial cable (and if so, anyone know the Mac settings to make it happen?)?
Thanks a bunch! I'm in an agony of indecision as to which phone to buy, but am leaning towards the XDA II (if I can get a lower price than $850!). This is one of the most important factor in my decision!

Hey, just got my XDA II, coming from a P900 as my main phone. I love the XDA II but DEARLY miss the connectivity with the P900. Anyone have any updates on using the XDA II as a modem in OSX?
Hi,
Yesterday i connected my imate jam to my laptop and straight away i was connected to pocket internet explorer. now it doesnt work. Can someone help???
SORRY... COULDN'T HEAR YOU! YOU WERE SCREAMING SO LOUD I HAD T O PROTECT MY EARS.
How about reading some threads about ActiveSync? There is a search function in EVERY forum - why don't you give it a go?
PS: Next time choose a better subject if you still can't resist opening a new one. How about "Having trouble connecting to internet over ActiveSync/USB" - but don't you dare starting a new one for this!
That s what i meant!!!!! Connect to internet over active sync
Hi guys,
Okay, I want to be able to connect my laptop to the Internet by pairing my XDAIIi and the laptop together via Bluetooth.
I have managed to get my laptop to identify the XDAIIi as a modem, and I can get it to dial normal dialup numbers through the IDAIIi... However, I want the laptop to connect using the phones GPRS, NOT a dialup number.
Any idea's how this can be done?
Cheers,
R
Come on! Surely this must be possible

just take a look around or use search most of these things have been up already
Hi Rudegar,
Thank you for your reply. However, I have extensively searched the forums already before posting, and could not find anyone trying to do it this particular way.
The link you gave is an example of that. They are connecting the XDAII using a USB cable to the PC. I'd like to do the same thing, except connect using bluetooth.
So if anyone can help !!
here are a few from the networking forum

A buddy of mine has an extra Droid x laying around and wanted to know if there is any way to use it as a wifi adapter for the xbox 360. I personally don't think any has found a way to do that yet but I may be wrong. Basically he just wants to see if it can be done, but he's fairly new to the android game.
Since the xbox 360 wireless adapter plugs in via usb, is there a way to turn on wifi and share what ever connection you pick up with the xbox?
I know how to share a computers Internet connection, but he only wants to use the phone. No computers or laptops, no other cables, only the phone and the charging cable for the phone.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.

The only way I know to share the dxs data connection over USB requires the connected device to have software installed.... maybe see if there is a tethering "app" you can install on your Xbox... I am a ps3 guy so I'm not sure what the Xbox is capable of... on second thought, I'm not sure if the dx is capable of broadcasting a signal out if you aren't using 3g signal... you might be shooting an already dead horse, I wouldn't waste the bullet (or time)

I really wouldn't put much hope into this idea.
You would need a j-tagged xbox, custom firmware that could communicate with a custom application on the phone that would tunnel wifi received data through USB cable to the custom firmware on the Xbox.

Yeah I figured that if it could be done it would be more trouble than what it's worth. Thanks for the input, I'll let my buddy know it's all just a pipe dream.

Hi all,
I'm just curious. If you guys still have Windows Mobile phone, what are you using it for?
I have one but I don't have any ideas how to invest/use it other than collecting dust.
Can you please share what's your main use of your WM phone in your daily life/work?
Thanks!

HTC TyTN II (Kayser) here...
Trying to use it as a wireless IP cam to install over my apartment's door peephole, but can't find an app that does this. Preferably accesible via internal webserver, VLC playable stream or as an input to a Zoneminder server.
Also thinking of using it as a permanent GPS for my old (1998) car, maybe with a cheap chinese android tablet as a front end via bluetooth.
I used my htc hd mini just until a few days ago, when i dropped it and the screen cracked pretty bad. since it is an old phone and i tend to crack the screen every 1.5-2 years, i always bought a used one on ebay to replace the previous (at least 3 devices by now i think).
This time maybe I try to revive an old hd2 which lies around here for quite some time now...
i liked to cook my own ROM for hd mini and i will probably do so with the hd2, including co0kies home tab and so on.
I like tweaking my devices, and no other OS is that good and that controllable as WM 6. and it doesn't collect my data.
When that one breaks i'll go back to hd mini i think, hd2 little too big for my taste
cheers!
