Hello:
My unit keeps locking up, i've had to reboot it approx 24 times today; on two occasions it wouldn't reboot and I had to hard reset it - any ideas?
Are you restoring from backup after each HR? If so, try it for a while without restoring . . . does the problem disappear?
yes, I am unsing a backup - I'll try withour next time it happens....
(sort of defeats the point of a backup!!)
Well . . . the thing is, there may be some file or registry corruption that was present when you did your backup. Now, when you do a restore you are re-creating that corruption.
Do you have previous backups that you could try to restore? Maybe the corruption is not present in those files. I keep a series of backups archived on my PC just in case this sort of thing happens.
I'm hoping for the best for you!

Hi all,
I had a weird problem today. Was on the phone, when time cam to hang up, the phone froze and I couldnt. Waited about a minute for it to unfreeze, no success. I then removed the battery and restarted it. It stuck at the HTC logo.
Here's what I have tried to make it boot :
- Soft reset
- Removed the battery and waited more than an hour, then tried again
- Tried without the micro SD
- Tried without the SIM
- Tried without both
- Tried while connected to a PC
- Tried while plugged to the power supply.
None of this worked, always stuck at the HTC logo.
I can perform a hard reset. Problem is I do not have a recent backup of my contacts, data etc. Last time I synced was in November, and I had a Resco backup scheduled daily to my Micro SD, but now that I checked, for whatever reason no backup happened since mid December.
Is there any way I can recover my contacts before hard resetting? I can get rid of all the other stuff but I NEED all the contacts I added since December and for which I have no backup.
Thanks a lot,
Simo
NOTE : No cooked ROM, I went back to the official HTC Rom

Unfortunayely from what I can tell you need to be able to access your phone to backup your contacts and as you cannot access phone I can't see how you can back these up
It also looks like you may need to hard reset device to fix it ........try removing battery for a whole night and then try again
For future record I backup conacts/emails eveyday, but then again I generally flash a new rom every other day

Hmmm... made me check my backups...
PIMBackup does it's "backup to SD card" magic every night at 23:56
On the other hand, I charge my HD from PC at least once a week, and thus sync data with Outlook.
@simobk: Sorry, but looks like you lost all your new contacts since last Resco backup...
Hope you will check backup functionality more often in the future...
Thank you for your answers... Although it is hard to accept
I learned through another forum that all the contacts are stored to a file called PIM.vol.
Is there anyway I can dump of all the files to a PC without being able to boot? Is there some kind of Safe Mode startup option in Windows Mobile?
Thanks,
Simo
I have a X10i & I rooted it fine with all the previous roms & when I ran cleanme.cmd for 026 after editing and deleting some rows, everything seemed fine.
I noticed that my phonebook & a bunch of other things where missing so therefor I decided to unmount the SD-card inside the phone & format it & then reset the phone & everything seemed fine, but when I started the phone & wrote the SIM-PIN code & pressed OK Timescape crashed. I press the button to force it, but it just keeps coming back.
I've tried to repair the phone with SE Companion, but it won't work.
Is there some way to hard reset by pushing some buttons like for the X1-version?
hard reset..???
i didn't find any information about hard rest on google search....all there is soft reset info. which is done through erase all from settings menu
having some random crashes from last few days, tried all firmwares nothing worked so lastly formatted my memory card and everything is fine...
but if i try to use backup and restore and restore contacts through it crashes again and then its impossible to start the phone though i do feel small vibration... i have to remove battery for 5-10 seconds and then put in again, but after restart all contacts are deleted which were restored through backup nd restore..
so it seems there is some problem with backup i made, so now i ve made new contacts and its working fine..
but still 3/10 times when i restart my phone it doesn't start and i have to remove battery...can anybody please advise me wot to do.?
tried everything every firmware rooted or unrooted, tried using without memory card, without using wifi, without downloading any software or backup, still it crashes a bit and around 3/10 times when i restart my phone..it does shutdown properly but does not starts iven if i plug in the charging cable....i have to have to remove battery most of the time..
is there a way to hard reset like there is for x1 ... any ideas devs..?
please help i ve also got iphone but dont want to use it..more addicted to x10 but this problem is giving me hard time
thanks
When booting into CWM's recovery to do a backup, it freezes at linux.es or linux.e2 or whatever the extension was, I don't remember. I have done dozens of backups already and restores, and never have I had it sitting for ten plus minutes at that point. Tried three times, nothing. Any suggestions?
Just let it keep going, it will take awhile. It sounds like you are backing it up with OCLF (or another) in place. It always does the same for me but nothing ever goes wrong. I can restore and the LF is still there. I can't use VooDoo so I don't know if the same applies.
Thanks but even with the lag fix i was always able to create a backup. It never took more than 2 - 3 minutes. Hopefully there is a fix. I dont know how many more times i can odin.
I've got the same problem. When it freezes what do you do? Turn it off with the power switch or just take the battery out?
Hi, i bought a NST and i rooted it a month ago.
Yesterday i decided to factory restore, because it began to get stucked on any screen.
I took the micro sd card with te nook manager and i restored to factory zip.
The first time it get stucked on loop when it finished the restoring process and then it restart to enter to the restoring process again for almost an hour.
Next i tried to restore the backup and it worked almost well but it remained stuck at the end of restoring.
After almos 30 minutes i decided to restart the nook and voila! it works and begin the screen saying that i need to register and everything, but the touchscreen doesn't work.
I restarted it, almost 10 times but i can´t even unlock the screen. i think that maybe on the restoring and reset it doesnt install the drivers of the IR sensors, but I can´t make it work.
In this moment I´m making again the restore but it's taking almos 30 minutes in the last part of the restoring screen.
Anyone could help to me?
Sorry for my english, I still working on it.
Felipe

Generally speaking, if the NookManager factory restore doesn't fix the problem, you're in trouble.
However, since you at least are booting up okay, there might be hope. Perhaps not, though.
Let me know what happens after that reset you mentioned was in processing, and we'll go from there.
Finally, the restoring screen never ends, so, I made a manual reset and magic! The touch worked!
Thanks!!!!
I've got a Canadian G2 D803. I have been using AICP 10 (aicp_d803_lp-10.0-NIGHTLY-20151225), the last lollipop release. I used this because in January when I tried MM release, it caused random soft boots at the time.
With the AICP 10 lollipop, it was mostly working fine until Friday when it all of a sudden doing soft reboots. It wasn't just a single isolated instance. It began doing it constantly. Every time it finished booting up, after a minute or so, it would soft reboots itself. In addition, when it constant soft reboots, the time would reset to linux default of 1970-01-01. Because it only stays in boot completed for only a minute, it wasn't long enough to sync time with service provider or ntp servers. Manually correct the time and a few soft reboots later would reset back to default 1970-01-01.
I should also note that this is not the first time it happened. I traveled to China in May, and this soft reboot loop kept happening. But the problem stopped after I disable auto time sync. But this time, I disable time sync and it's not working.
My main issue right now is I want to backup all the apps and data with Titanium Backup before wiping the phone or moving to another phone. But it only completed boot for 1 minute before it soft reboots by itself again. Within the 1 minute time, for multiple reboots, I uninstall some recent apps. However, so far it doesn't have any effect. I've also tried clearing dalvik and data cache in TWRP. While the phone boots and runs through the "optimizing" app on boot, it doesn't soft reboot, not until it completes booted into the OS. Here is a more detailed list of things I have tried so far without success:
I'm completely at a loss right now as I just want to backup the apps and data first. Does anyone experience something like this before? Anyone has any clue about this or similar issues?
I do have a logcat and kmsg. I don't think I'm allowed to attach to the post because I'm new to XDA. Where can I post it?
Thanks in advance for any help.
