I droped my MDA and now the top right button is stuck. When my phone reboots, it only shows a screen with all the colors on it. I can get around this by holding the left button and telling the phone not to hard reset. However, I really need the use of the button back. Does anyone know of an easy way to unstick a button.
Thanks

Any input from anyone would be great.
You could try a hard reset. You will loose everything but at least your phone might be working.
1. Hold the two soft keys down (the one that opened contacts and calendar by default)
2. With your stylus push the soft reset (below the volume control) hold for about 5 seconds.
3. Keep holding the soft keys and you should get an message to push the send button.
4. press send.
Your phone should reset (hopefully) at this point.
It is stuck at the white HTC splash screen when you first start up the phone....after that its just a black screen, ive tried both hard and soft resets. I heard theres a way to flash it from the bootloader but i dont know how....So guys help me out....I really wanna fix this thing

Hi there;
To get into the bootloader mode, switch phone off and then hold the red/green answer buttons, and then power up the phone, hold this down until you get the 3 different colours on the screen.
*By the way, if anyone more experienced wishes to correct me, feel free*
*Damn Doublepost*
To enter the bootloader:
Hold down the camera button and reset device with the stylus. Keep holding the camera button until you see 'tricolor' bootloader screen.
An alternative way to enter bootloader:
Switch the device off by long pressing O/I (power) button. hold down the camera button while pressing the O/I button about 1 second. Keep holding the camera button until you see 'tricolor' bootloader screen.
Alternative(universal?) bootloader(3)
As almost all htc smartphones with onboard camera, when you push and hold the camera(photo) button, and plug in usb adapter. Even a "stupid" usb power adapter will work.
To hard reset:
Hold down send/reject buttons (green/red at the front) and reset with the stylus; release the stylus but keep holding the buttons till you get 'this will erase all your personal data' message, then press 'action' (big front button) to hard reset.
Good LUck

I have a HTC Touch 6900 I tried to upgrade the rom and now the HTC won't boot up. I tried to hard reset, and tried to get to the bootloader but nothing can anyone help me, Please
i had this same problem five minutes ago i removed the battery for a few minutes and replaced it and it turned on
Rdit:

ok the problem is solved... i´ve found the right unbrick ROM now it works

ok... now i have the same Problem. I wanted to flash from Onyx WM6.5 (5.0) to the original Vodafone Rom WM6 which i dumped.
After the flash finished, the device rebooted, the Vodafone screen was on the display and then it was black...
Hardreset = no change
Flashing back to Onyx = no change
remove battery = no change
bootloader is reachable and flashing works but the problem with booting is still there
My phone kept freezing on the CHT Lock screen today and I couldn't get passed it. So I was holding it, plastic fork in one hand, phone in the other, not realizing I was also pushing one of the volume buttons and hit the red button with my plastic fork at Chipotle.
All of the sudden my phone rebooted to a screen that looks like a Rom Flashing screen with the weird bars of color. As soon as I saw this I hit the end button and it turned off. Then I started it back up and it was fine.
Just wondering what holding the volume button and hitting the red reset button at the same time do.
Thanks.
Sounds like a Hard Reset
Sounds like you initiated a hard reset. Volume up would have continued the process. Does not sound like there was any harm done!
Thanks. That's good to know. Hard Reset wouldn't have been the end of the world since all of my contacts are on my exchange server and all of my data is on my card and backed up on my pc.
Yeah that would come in pretty handy if that is the only you would be able to do a hardreset...if you where stuck and needed to bring your phone back!
i'm sure this has been done to death, but, through my searching, i haven't found an actual concrete solution.
i purchased a g1, knowing that it was stuck at the rainbow screen. i thought it'd be an easy fix, but, in my case, it seems not. i'm a uk user, so have flashed the rc7 update, and NOT the 29 one. yes, i pressed the camera button, and THEN the power button, whilst the g1 was turned off. once successfully flashed/completed, i press the 'action'/trackball key, take the battery out, and turn the phone on, only to see that the rainbow screen is STILL there.
what you might need to know:
DREA110 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.29
Sep 2 2008
Serial0
so, if anyone has a full-proof solution that will get my g1 working again, i'll be extremely grateful. if not, i'll put it on e-bay. is it possible that my g1 is permanently bricked?
How about NOT pressing the trackball?
However note that pressing the trackball during bootup SHOULD put the thing into BLUELIGHT mode (debug console).
Typically, if it turns on straight into the bootloader, it means that your CAMERA or BACK button is stuck. Try pressing each of those buttons a few times and then turning it on again. If not, you may need to disassemble.
but, i mean, once the phone says Update Complete
UPDATE SUCCESS,press action (trackball) key, that's when i press the trackball key, as it tells me to. the camera and back buttons certainly don't feel stuck, ...

He is right, if it boots into bootloader (rainbow screen) that means your camera button is stuck, even if it doesn't feel like it.
i just took apart my htc dream... im experience a similar problem.... i measure the ohms on the switch for the camera button, open, it shows about half contiunity on my multimeter(analog), and when the button is pressed, it registers a full short, as it should, on both sides of the switch. I will try unsoldering the camera button at some point tomorrow, and will try to post my results.
does anyone know if those switches are meant to be completely open when not pressed??
EDIT: will be heading out to my job in the next hour to use the hot air station to remove the camera button, and clean up the contacts on the board... if this doesnt work, does anyone else have any other ideas??

ok, so i just unsoldered the camera button off the main board, and it still comes up to the bootloader.... what next?? ive flashed the dreaimg.nbh file, and wiped the phone. i can press the home and pwr button and get the recovery menu, but even there, flashing anything *.zip doesnt make a difference... ideas now??
EDIT:So i just got another g1 with a cracked screen... i switched out the mainboard. with a different mainboard that worked from a different phone, it still came up to the bootloader screen... i then switched the buttons, not the camera button, ironically, the other buttons.. i switched the whole front plate(send, home, back, end, menu buttons/trackball panel). now the original mainboard works fine... just no camera button cuz my hot air station at work killed the button. try that and let us know here. see if that works for you....
EDIT2: Heres a thread that i just opened with that last explaination, as well as a story to how my day preceded with this phone... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781143 enjoy!
