Hi. I just got the "special edition" ROM from this site to enable me to unlock my XDA. In addition to unlocking my XDA and being slim and functional, this ROM reminded me what I did like about WM2002 (pass-through actually works, faster).
However, I really miss one feature I got from upgrading to WM2003: IMAP/SSL in Pocket Inbox. I'd really like to get this without upgrading completely to WM2003. Any ideas?

Hi,
i have just got my first magician device - the SPV M500 and have a few questions. is it worth updating any of the roms like so many of these posts talk about? although i purchased it on orange and it has all the orange branding i mainly use my o2 sim - should i look at using the o2 xda mini rom? or am i best just sticking with what i have?
also what programms would people most reccomend for the magician devices? as i want to get the most out of it! also is there a better software for backing the phone up than activesync?
thanks and sorry for the stupid questions!
Tom
anyone?
I always say: if it aint broken, dont fix it
I dont follow the rule myself, I like to tweak and patch my device until its to my satisfaction....the default configs are just horrible imo
but if you dont know what yer doing...be carefull with upgrading
for software I have a few apps I cant do without:
WebIS Pocket Informant 2005 - a PIM application
phoneMax PhoneAlarm - Advanced profile setup
Wivit SIM Status Switcher - for switching between SIM cards when using a dual SIM adapter
SPB Weather - I like to know the weather...this is a Today screen plugin
SBSH Pocketbreeze - displays your tasks and appointments on the today screen
Get some backup software and then you can play to your hearts content.
However, I went from 1.11 to 1.12 without noticing any differences, so I'd concur, don't mess unless you feel you really need to!
Do the bigstorage hack though. And if you're doing that, you might as well rom upgrade at the same time.

I had the same debate over my m500.
I used it for around 3-4 days just how it was supplied to me, to see if it was stable (which it was) the rom that was supplied with my m500 was 1.06 (found in start>settings>system>device info) I have kept this version of the rom, but upgraded the radio rom to 1.13 and also hacked it to give me big storage.

I was a bit angry today to find out that T-Mobile UK won't be releasing the Exchange Messaging Feature Pack and Bluetooth 2 update until June!!!
I know I can flash my Wizard with another ROM, but I want to know exactly which one to use that is the most newest and stable available. I don't like the T-Mobile customisation very much so I'd like to get rid of it. Also, how would I restore the MMS settings for example? I can easily input the operator setttings if necessary or will I need to use an actual program.
T-Mobile have also withdrawn the last update from their website citing that it had faults. I'm using the original ROM.
Thanks for your time.
i also got the Vario with the 2.08 Rom, works very stable on my device
Is that a T-Mobile ROM? I want to use one of the Qtek ones I think so I get push email. Can anyone advise? My device is unlocked using the tool and CID unlocked but I'm not sure what that is!
many roms of wm6 are around on known sites for specific models.is anything for our herald too?ive read that there is going to be an official update to wm6 of this model so there must be something around, even beta.
Mhhm, i couldn´t find anything by now....
Lets wait a little, i think HTC is going to release something for us, soon
No one cooking any roms for the Herald tho?
doesn't look like it, i looked into porting one of the wizard roms but i didnt get very far! its definately possible to flash your own roms though. Also its worth remembering that HTC have promised us wm6 roms before June. I would much rather have that than a pre-release wm6 rom as the ones that are avaliable for the wizard, hermes etc.
As far as i know, everyone is content with AKU 3.2

well i have used crossbow on my wizard and the only difference i see are pretty icons and html mail. i dont really care about either, and more importantly my herald is very stable, cant remember the last time i had to soft reset never mind hard reset. so thats why i can wait until htc do their thang!
I hear one handed uses on WM6 is way better and that windows update feature looks very promissing.
O2 may be releasing an HTC Herald as O2 XDA Terra, with WM6 on it.

HTC Herald (aka Tmo Wing)
I bought a T-Mobile Wing 2 days ago (obviously it has WM6 on it) Where-as it is stable - I am rather disappointed that they removed the native VoIP support - thus I am waiting for someone to cook a ROM and put it back in so I can do the Hybrid Cell/VoIP thing that I was Previously doing on my Wizard (MDA) - I still have my Wizard which I use strictly for VoIP at home.

Great to hear. Thanks
Ok guys - since my Molski.biz 2.26.10.2 rom has a few bugs (like the volume-control slider not working), I decided to reinstall a new rom. Ive seen already tons of threads including thousands of posts so it`s difficult to find out which rom is the best.
I heard of Faria released a cooked WM6-Rom but I m not sure if it`s working fine with the wizard and if there are still some bugs. In addition to that i don`t know if there are any incompatabilites with WM5 applications.
I`ve also seen a WM5 Rom tons auf WM5 Roms - but which one is working realy fine?
Oh forgot that: I`ve a G4 Device but it`s already CID unlocked.
LOL!!!!!!!
I haven't tried them all but Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 has been working great for me.
A couple of people, myself included had a problem where the built in phone dialer disappeared, but I fixed that by installing the Iphone dialer (can be found here by searching).
First Post.....
Yes, I as my post count would suggest I am new to flashing roms and setting up 3rd party softwares on my Wizard but I must say after hanging out on this forum for a couple of weeks I now feel somewhat like a veteran.
I first flashed with crossbow reloaded 1.7.1 I liked it and didn't notice any major problems at all.
But I was so impressed by XDA Mobile 6 that i had to try it and must say after about a week using it (since it was released) I'm much more impressed, wizard seems faster, i love the interface and the post offers great insight into problems and finding what configurations work for everyone.
I would suggest you try a few roms till you find what suits you best, here is the link to XDA Mobile 6

ok guys first i've installed core 2.0 what seems to work fine but, well u know, it's like a clean vanilla rom - too clean for me. So next i wanted Titanium but it's not released yet. After looking over the programs Faria delivers with his rom, i've decided not to have this much software and installed XDA Mobile 6. Seems to work fine and it looks nice.
Just one more question: where the heck is some difference to WM5? I mean everything looks like the same in WM6. Well ok, there is maybe a new skin, and some new tones, but in the end, i've could also use WM5 with wisbar and the Vista Skin.
For me it seems to be the same sh** like Windows XP and Vista - no real changes at all.
There's a page somewhere on Microsoft.com that details all of the new features in wm6 (Im sure if you do a google search for wm6 review you will find it). The most important one in my opinion is the ability to display HTML with in emails.
I'm new to the world of playing with my PDA/PPC phone. I've had a treo for several years before upgrading to the PPC6800. Prior to getting my PPC in Aug I worked with whatever was standard on the phone. Nothing at all extra. I've been learning and reading since Aug and have learned A LOT! But I am still confused as to the point of using a cooked ROM. What's the purpose? The benefit? My phone works fine now as it is. I have tons of programs installed and running 18-20 free memory during the course of the day. Would a new ROM increase my free memory? Sometimes while running A_Cs S2U2 in the background and having PIE open my memory will drop to 3-8mb free. I simply close out PIE and stop S2U2 using ilock.exe and memory comes up to about 14-16mb. Would upgrading the ROM change that? I hope I have made sense! And thanks so much for all the helpful information here.
Yes many cooked ROMs are lite ROMs so some of them will allow you a little more memory. But I dont recommend using a cooked ROM. I used a cooked ROM on my ppc 6700, Treo 750, TyTN II and heck I even customized the ROM in my 650 but every time you have any little glitch your always going to wonder if it is because you hacked into that area that is ment for only official updates. Even If you revert back to the OEM ROM you are always going to wonder if an issue is related to tampering with the ROM. Using a cooked ROM can allow you to run faster and smoother with no carrier [email protected] The community here is full of talented engineers that do an awesome job but once you tamper with the ROM your always going to kinda feel like you may have jacked something up. I ebayed my TyTN II and I regret flashing it with a cooked ROM. I just got the Titan and I wont be deflowering that "never the same again", area.
Cooked Rom
I was using the Sprint ROM, but it's garbage compaired to the new DCD ROM. Keep in mind nothing ruins a phone worse than installing apps that always run... i.e. HTC home customizer, sms threading apps, etc...
internal gps...nice
Well I sold my Kaiser and bought a Titan.......... I said I wasn't going to use a custom ROM again............ I made it for 1 week before flashing my Titan......
I couldn't resist the lure of tethering without a plan, getting full use of the GPS and threaded SMS that actually works right!!!! dcd is kickin @$$!!!
There is a parisite that is sometimes transmitted from uncooked roms.. or was that pork.
