Resco Explorer BlueTooth File Transfer - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

A workaround to enable Resco Explorer BlueTooth file transfers.
Uncheck Use IrDA via OBEX under General Options.
Select the file for transfer and choose Send To - Infrared Recipient...
This will take you to the Beam File... (Beam) screen similar to the one when you want to transfer files using IrDA / BT in File Explorer.
If the Xda II and the target device BT is enabled detection and transfer as per normal.

Took me a couples of days to figure that out too..
Good post.

Great, I was expecting someone to find something for resco explorer
Thanks

where can I download the resco explorer from?
I am using i-mate PDA2K with Windows 2002 but I couldn't send any bluetooth
message so far?
i use the file explorer to browse the vailable bluetooth devices near to me
but it's just showing Searching and nothing happens after that?
what is the problem?

you can download from here

resco explorer doesnt provide the possibility to send files via bluetooth on the jam.

that's not true, when you press beam file with resco, it automatically searches for ir or bt devices. It works really good with my jam.
Yeap...Resco really good with my jam...

You can do the same ting using the bulit in explorer too... no need to buy resco to send files via BT
Use the Built in File Explorer. It is just as good.
how do you guys do this? nowhere in the file explorer does it let me beam files via bluetooth. the only option available is via stodgy infrared.

yes, they're.. first turn on your bluetooth... then hold on the file for few sec on file explorer.... select Beam File... It would now searching for bt device surrounding u.....
Yeeee Haaaah! it works thanks! (next time I'll switch bluetooth on before sending files via bluetooth.... duh!)
Send via bluetooth options simply not avalabile to me and dirving me nuts! I have an imate Jam:
R 1.01.00
G 1337.38
D 1.03.00 WWE
Bluetooth is well and truly turned on but Resco (2003 v5.13) only gives Infrared & Email options. No Bluetooth option on file explorer either!
Am I missing something here - have tried soft resetting after turning BT on and everything else I can think of.
Some forums talking about MS BT stack limitations but don't understand why you guys see the Send via BT option & I don't?
Thanks,
M
There is no "Beam via Bluetooth" option, this is only for iPaqs, just select the "send to -> infrared receipient" option, this will also search for bluetooth devices aside from infrared devices. Remember to turn on your bluetooth first.
I can do with the File Explorer but no luck with Resco.
OK - got a response with file explorer - phew - thanks. No go with Resco though - sending to infrared recipient brings up a "Beam Files (OBEX)" screen but it does not find bluetooth devices.
When using Resco Explorer for sending files via bluetooth, you have to disable "Use IrDA via OBEX" for it to work.
Thanks ZX
Many Thanks for ur posts
Resco now runs smoothly... 8) 8) 8)

Did u "enable all incoming" in settings > connections > transmission/transfer on the mini?
Withoit this, your mini will refuse incoming files via bluetooth or ir.

Sending files via Bluetooth in JAM?

How to do so by file explorer??
AS u know Microsoft protocol for Bluetooth is so restricted even it can't send file via bt!
Is there any 3rd party prog. that solve such problem??
Yes, there is a program available.
The excellent Resco Explorer 5.2, allows Send by BT, earlier versions only supported Send by BT on iPAQs.

Very good value for money.

From File Explorer just tap and hold on the file and then select beam file from the pop up menu. Remember to switch on the BLuetooth first.
Of course you can send files via Bluetooth with MS stack!!!!
Total Commander for PPC (link below) - free and allows beam (IR/BT etc) from Total COmmander interface (which is like file explorer)

yogioz how kan you send file by BT in Total Commander? I can send only by irda
Mate - you use beam in file explorer (TC fixes this). Beam will use irda or BT - provided you turn your BT on first. You will get irda and below that is searching. The 'searching' is looking for BT......

and if ur receiving, please make sure in settings>beam>receive all incoming beams are checked. otherwise u can't accept. beam works for bt and ir. good luck.

Are you guys saying that without TC you could not get BT to work from File Explorer? I never installed Total Command and have been sending files via BT from File Explorer since day 1 of my magician!

File Explorer - how to - "Send via Bluetooth"

Hi. How do I send a file via Bluetooth ? I paired with another mobile (Nokia - symbian OS) but I still can't find a way to send any file. In File Explorer it gives me options like "send via email" or "beam" - but no Bluetooth option.

The native file explorer doesn't support bluetooth sending. You should try some 3rd party file-explorer. I use Resco Explorer. I just upgraded to the latest version (Resco Explorer 2005) and i must say, it really works like a dream. And you can send files using bluetooth.
However, Resco Explorer is shareware. If you want freeware, you can also look for other good file explorers like 'Total Commander' and GS Finder, although they don't have all the extra usefull features that Resco Explorer give.

The built in explorer WILL send file via bluetooth. The "Beam" will search for all IR and Bluetooth devices. Just hit beam and wait, you will see the devices ID address come up first then there ID name will appear. Then just tap the "send" command next to the device ID your sending to.
I tried the beam - it searches only for Infra devices - not bluetooth. It doesn't even list the paired devices.
I installed Resco Explorer - and it does give me an option to send a file through Bluetooth from that.
*edit*
@ampda
Ok. He is right. It does search for bluetooth in Beam option also. Thanks. Works great.
I'm using version 5.1 of Resco Explorer but it seems to don't even recognize the bluetooth: :?

Missing Bluetooth file trasnfer in WM2005 JASJAR

File Explorer does not support Bluetooth file trasnfer , I am using JAS/JAR running WM2005. AM I missing something?
there is a registry change you can make to add support for this - see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Registry under To change the ability to receive files via Bluetooth (OBEX)
i've not tried this myself, though!
If you don't mind spending on 3rd party software then Resco File Explorer may be your best set and they now have a WM5 compatible version.
Likewise to transfer from your PC to the phone your windows PC file explorer should manage it provided your device is paired. But don't forget to turn on the bluetooth on the device and also the "accept all incoming beams" as this is often confused as being mandatory for IR transfers only.
Kind Regards
access is denied
when i try to change values it give me error of access is denied, can anybody help me
failed
followed all the changes mentioned in this post and try to send a file to my PC. It recognizes my PC but when i click on tap to send...it tries for a few seconds and then gives a status saying failed
I think it is at your PC end, and I have had similar problems depending on the bluetooth setup that I had on the pc, I could activesync on bluetooth, but not send files, yet on an alternative machine I could do both. They were running different bluetooth dongles and thus settings and drivers.

Bluetooth home folder

I am not sure if this is already posted elsewhere because I did a search and couldn't find that.
Does anyone know how to change the home folder for bluetooth recieved files? I need to change that to recieve files directly to my MicroSD card not in the main memory (which has not enough space most of the time).
Any help?
It looks that you cannot specify the directory for bluetooth incoming files.
MS Bluetooth stack does not have such a option.
You can solve a part of this problem by using "Dr.Yar bluetooth 1.51" software. It will add FTP bluetooth profile for your phone and it will give you a ability to choose the folder for saving files.
But!
Some sending devices use OBEX file transfer instead of using FTP bluetooth file transfer. For this cases standard MS OBEX profile will be used and files will be saved into "/My Documents" folder.
This software works great; be sure to double-click the bluetooth icon to Start the program.
