ANyone can tell me how to set individual Ringtones for my XDA II as I can't seem to find the right place if it exists...thanks
If you mean a different ringtone per contact or category of contacts, I don't think you can by default..
I have a program to do it called RingToneX it is cheap around $6.95 from memory and seems to work fine!

can anyone point in me in the right direction on how to specify a mp3 / wav file for:
1. Incoming Call Ringtone
2. SMS
3. E-Mail
I dont mind editing the regitry if someone could point me to the location.
Also do the ring tones have to be installed in \Windows\rings ?
thanks.
1. Put the MP3 in the My Documents>My Ringtones folder
2. Put the MP3 in the root Windows folder
3. Don't know but I'd imagine it's the same as SMS tones
Put the files in \windows then go to settings tab, sound and display, there you get ringtone setting, then below notification sounds for the rest.
Hiya.
I am working on a ringtone app. Mr-tones.
Just about done and ready to post the release.
I am curious if the registry settings for for the HD2 are the same as for the rest of us?
Of course if it's unique for the HD2 I would like to add those settings...
Thanks much.

I've managed to sort the ringtones out, ( I wasnt looking hard enough ) but if you want to tell me the registry locations for the stuff you already have, and I can confirm them for you? or if you dont want to post it here you can pm me? either way its up to you.
Or alternatively I can test the program see if it works?
Hi there, anyone know of a program that works on HD2 that allows you to assign different sms tones to different ppl? Did have Text Message Secatary from openmarket, and was working, but since I updated to new T-Mobile (UK) Stock rom, it not longer does, despite what rules i apply. Found PhotoContacts Pro but this seems abit overkill for what I want, Sure others want this as well, and despite contacting the author of Text Message Secatary, had no help from him. Also tried Justtones but that didn't work! Any help would be magic!
take a SD card... insert it and make a folder called "audio"--> open it and then make three new folders, called "alarms" "notifications" and "ringtones" then you copy the new sms tone to the notifications folder.
cheers, stephan1
edit:
ok... this is not what mobile secretary is doing... I´m sorry
sms tones
wrong post my badd
re tones
I know where to store the tones, think you misunderstand the point, I actually want to have a different sms tone for different ppl, i.e 1 for wife, 1 for work, 1 for best mate, so just by hearing the tone i would know who the sms is from. As i said Text message secatary used to work, til i updated the stock rom, but now doesn't.
Any more Idea's?
people>all people>(pick person)>edit contact>(scroll down)ringtone is this what yuo were looking for?
Only commercial software can achieve that. Don't recall seeing any freeware capable of that.
Photo Contacts Pro
http://www.pocketx.net/products/photocontactspro_ppc/
the above statement is true fully though those programs just Change registry keys to achieve that
I got the samsung today n I'm loving it but I cant put a specific ringtone for each contact does anyone know how to do that?i knew how to do it on the g1 but this phone is different....btw love the swype on the vibrant

for some reason it was overlooked fortunately there's an app for that
ringo
plus the lite version includes assigning tones to SMS from contacts as well
this is how you do it
this was not over looked!!! all you have to do is for the contacts that you want to have custom ringtones for.. you create another contact for them on the phone memory and then you tie that one to the google one. with the contact that is saved on the phone memory you then now set a custom ringtone for them....
enjoy!!!

Let us be very clear on this. What you describe is a workaround. The basic functionality has been overlooked or neglected.
If you do the workaround you describe your phone contacts do not get backed up to your Google contact list. This is, IMO, unacceptable.
yeah it's stupid.... however using an app like ringroid works.
about the contact ringtones
Hello everybody, im knew to Android, and i was puzzled also about the personal contact ringtones. i just tryed the ringo app and it works perfectly no issues, thanks guys for the info.
Thanks for the thread, I've been struggling with this for about 2 hours on my Galaxy S. So far this is the only issue I've found with the phone. Anybody want to buy a G1?
Ringdroid works too.

I want to set my own tone for my messages. I have had the mobile just and a week and I am to tired to sit and find it myself, I have tried but just end with a migraine...........
I am also wondering what the term "rooting" means? PLEASE EXPLAIN....
only way to set a tone for messages is to download a ringtone client from the market or when your connected to computer is to manuelly put music tracks in the defualt message tone folder, there is a app called "ringtone" that you can load your mp3 track in to and cut down to use the part of the tone you want to use,

Install extended ringtones, this will give you an aditional option when assigning ringtones
