does anyone know of a good packet sniffer that will work on the xdaii?
http://www.cam.com/vxsniffer.html
Only downside is its fairly high price... There was a free software called AirScanner but it does not support the SDIO WiFi cards that we can use on the XDA2.
Good luck.

hi, any suggestion which sdio wi-fi card that will best work with the xda mini? i tried to search the web but no particular sdio was mentioned that is compatible with the mini. also, a linksys router is being used at the office.
1) does it matter or any sdio will work provided that i have the drivers installed on my mini?
2) am i correct that if ever i will connect to any hotspots or even at our office (using wi-fi), i will not be charged by my carrier for the connection?
any help would be highly appreciated. i just dont want to end up spending money on SDIO card and later on will not work with my mini. thanks very much!

1) all with available drivers should work. I use the SanDisk Wifi with 256 MB Memory without problems
2) I think this depens on your settings. Normally you're right, but if you are doing some things with your connection profiles you can get a probelm, that you're gprs connection would be used....

Has anyone tried VOIP with their magician? Is there a software available that makes this possible?
VoIP
You can use SJphone or X-ten Softphone for PPC. I use it with Tiscali Telefonie en VoIPBuster.
Tiscali is my ISP and has VoIP as an extra option. VoIPBuster is a "free" Europe VoIP provider.
I tried Skype without good results. On my 9090 the audio quality was much much better but I've to say that the magician I'm using is a replacement fully "original" waiting mine. I guess that with an update it will be better. If it will stay like now I'll trow it away in a sec. It's crappy slow, if by mistake I open the camera than I can't do much than a reset...
I am using Skype with satisfactory results.
My setup is as follows:
a.) fast internet connection ( I have a 1.5Mbs DSL connection and a Linksys WRT54G WIFI) I think Skype is possible in lower connection speed.
2.) I use the headset that comes the IIs (without the headset, audio becomes bad due to echoing).
I'm trying to trial both IP Dashboard (HudsonMobile.com) and GPRS Monitor (Spbsoftwarehouse.com) to track my wireless data usage for 1) GPRS/EDGE and 2) WiFi. Both don't seem to fit the bill. I use Cingular USA MEdiaWorks bundle which comes with 5MB data download. I need to monitor how much wireless GPRS/EDGE data I'm downloading in a month because it gets expensive after 5MB ($0.05/KB). I also use WiFi pay-as-you-go hotspots & others which have either a daily limit of data limit. I also need to monitor my Wifo data download connection.
IP Dashboard wants you to select a network adapter for WiFi. If you go to Start-Settings-Connections tab-Network Cards ... which of the 7 network adpters is the integrated WiFi on Wizard?
GPRS Monitor does a great job on GPRS/EDGE data connections because you select the My ISP connection you setup to connection to the carrier's web. However, I don't have a WiFi connection setup in Connections under My ISP or My Work Network. Can you establish the Wizard's WiFi connection in this area?
Are there any other data monitoring software out there I should be looking at?
Thanks all, one full week with my new Wizard whoo-hoo. Just got my WriteShield screen protector put on and an ATP Promax 512MB miniSD memory card installed. Life is getting better although it's a little slow. I hope someone comes out with an overclocking package to handle the TI OMAP 850 processor.

hi,
I recently bought the Antha VPN Client to get access to my university WLAN
(via Nortel gateway).
The software runs properly on WM5 except that it can't connect to anything at all. I do not know if it is a Antha VPN problem, a WM5 problem or a hardware problem with the MDA pro. The software seems not to recognize the built in WLAN of the MDA pro (at least I connot select WLAN among the networks).
But it also won't work with "Internet" ot "ISP". If I chose "ISP" it starts to connect, but then disconnects.
Maybe anyone of you has experience with VPN clients on the MDA pro.
How are the profiles in WM5 "Internet", "ISP", "Work" etc, related to each other?
Is there any hidden firewall, or the T-mobile branding blocks the software etc.?
Thank you very much for every idea and best regards,
Elias
I also had issues with Antha and conatct support where i was told that M5000 (Universal)is not supported yet and that they also have issues.
Unfortunately when i looked at the supported systems i thought that i had seen the SPV M5000 (or Universal or whatever it is called) but it was another one with a similar name.
I think we have to wait until they find a fix for it.
Unfortunately there are not a lot of VPN's out there which work with Windows Mobile 5. I tried NCP Secure Client, but don't get it working either, but this is maybe because of parameter. You may give this one a try.

my 2 cents... give your sysadmin a tip and switch to openvpn, hassle free and damn-working ssl-based vpn. There is a openvpn pocketpc client in the works, and it's running pretty fine.
See you at the openvpn pocketpc forum
Have been trying out some wifi software for PPC. Have tried Pocket warrior, MiniStumbler, and a few others.
Is anyone aware of some software that is compatible with the Wireless adapter on the XDA IIi that is capable of showing SSID, IP Address as well as what encryption is being used.
Any help would be appreciated.
