Best Profile App.:PocketPcZen, CellProfiler or PhoneProfile? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi all!
I have a simple question for you...
...which one is the best profile application?
Best is a big word, but let's say, which one is the application you prefer and why (beside the price)?
I have done my homework, I have seen the posts (some with over 1000 post... I must admit I have not read them all), the authors website etc... I have an idea of what I like, but the more I read the posts, the more I hear about bugs and complains... so... which one is currently most "stable" (don't care about small bugs, but hard resets upsets me)?
I am aware that the developers of at least two of these app are on this forum and how that asking this question is "politically correct".
Thanks,
Chris
P.S.: From user of Phone Profiler I would appreciate a quick word about how the picture and ringtone feature works compared to standalone application with this functionality

I have used both Cell Profiler and PocketZenPhone and can state that there are differences in the two. PZP is very well written and, in my opinion, is very useful in it's ability to provide phone profiles. Features like switching Bluetooth on & off, and profile scheduling are all fantastic features. Also, the author, Zenduri, puts a lot of effort in listening to his user base and releasing updates very often.
Cell Profiler is still very young. It has the potential of being a great application, but there are still some issues with it and I'm eagerly awaiting the next release. It's main cool feature is the ability to switch profiles, send sms or run a program based on your location. It is a bit pricey at $20.00, but I forked over the cash hoping it would assist the author in his development.
If you want something immediately, get PZP. It's solid, well written and best of all, only $8.00. I think version 4.9.1 is available on PocketGear. If you really prefer the funcionality of the Location based profiles, then I suggest you wait a bit until a newer version of Cell-Profiler is released.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Cell Profiler caused lots of Hard Resets. will also try it again in the next release.
PZP working great.

Profiles and Group Contacts
Is there a app that I can use to group contacts in groups, and allow certain groups on certain profiles to come through as calls, as on the Nokia phones? This is possible on Smartphone, not sure why not on PPC

What happened to dutty anyways? Don't see any new posts from him. Any projections on when new Cell Profiler may be out?

PocketZenPhone is the best phone profiler (speaking the "Nokia" way, and much more powerful)

Try to get this as a sticky---Best apps for different uses

This forum has a lot of information and a lot of input and applications and downloads. I recently started coming here a few weeks ago and little by little have gotten through quite a few threads and downloaded some amazing stuff. However, it's been difficult at best and quite slow and tedious and I know there is still lots of stuff I'm missing.
What I was thinking is how it would be great if we had one unified post that summarized and organized some of the most popular applications that are available here. Something like:
Best Music Players
--HTC Audio manager
--Mort Player
--etc.
Best Browser
--Opera Mini
--Picsel
--Skyfire
--etc.
Best locking program
--S2U2
--etc.
and so on, with the download links next to them. This would make referencing certain applications easy to find and download for all from various threads. With a few people in charge to moderate the thread, updates could easily be done as people post as they arrive or to alert others and then subsequently deleted.
I'm not sure if this has been brought up or attempted before, but I wanted to throw it out there. Please feel free to close or lock this thread if necesssary mods.
I would also add that some polls could be set up initially to identify some of these key applications to set up a "standard" list of applications that most users here should at least be familiar with and/or have on their devices.
Thanks and hope this idea helps out others if it's put forth.
Chain Fire's WMWIFI ROUTER
Slither's HTC CUBE Clone ( flash version )
Slither's HTC Cube ( C++ version )
Throttle Launcher
will add more later
Best Music Player:
Pocket Melody
Best Browser:
NetFront Browser 3.5
Best contact App :
-- PocketCM 0.19b !!
I can't find the pocket melody thread... can some one gimme a link...
Thanks
Sorry, but before this thread becomes very crowded and yet another "must have" list that gets lost in the realms of the web: Wouldn't it be better to do this in the XDA-Wiki?
Here's a good starting point.
A sticky hint might be a good idea, though, you've got to scroll the Wiki main page for a while to find it...

Thank you. That's exactly the type of format I'm looking for. I didn't want everyone to just come and start posting their favorite programs but instead to have ONE post that combined them all. I just don't know enough of them and haven't been around long enough to even begin to compile it.
That wiki page looks great. I just hope someone that has a little time and the desire to do this could pull it off. I just don't have either nor the knowledge to put out something that would be helpful. Thanks for the reply.

We should have official polls on what are the best apps for each category.
That way, the best of the best will show themselves and those who are not yet enlightened, WILL be.
It will also clear up arguments and let popularity decide.

Agreed. Should be in general.

Ringtone Profiles

Is there a program, similar to SPB Phone Suite profiles, that enables you to change the ringtones that you have.
I would like to have one set of ringtones for when I am at work, and one for when I am not at work. Without going in and manually changing all the ringtones, id like to be able to essentially hit a button and change multiple ones.
Get the jist?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
KC
PhoneAlarm

PhoneWeaver

Doesn't have many skins, but is adjustable for timeframes, headset, etc.

Wow!! Your first post on this forum is for a number of programs that can be found using the search function on this site or google. Stinkin amazes me!! This forum is meant for development not order filling your requests. Use Search....Alot!!!
Yeah, um I'll take a double cheeseburger, giant fry, 2 cherry turnovers and a diet coke....you always have to have the diet coke!!!
Want a free one?
Try SOB, the link is in my signature.
Isn't this forum's idea to help people and be kind?
Or is the purpouse always to complain when newbies asks for help?
I agree that the search option is something that's ment for being used, but...
If you could spend the time to complain, you certainly could use it to help someone new on this forum.
That's a real contribute to this excellent place on earth for us PPC owners.
Search!

[dev] "fake call" freeware [coding]

Attention:
The Release is Here
I do alot of skinning but finally decided to jump in and try and actually create my own program, and i need a little help
Some of you may be familiar with trinket softwares "fake call." If not you can do a quick read up with this link.....
http://www.trinketsoftware.com/FakeCall/
I am in the middle of developing something similar but a freeware version (if you didn't know the software isn't freeware any longer) I had put a very basic but working program together in basic4ppc, i then found out i had to buy the software to compile the program. Since i already own visual studio 2008 i decided i would go ahead and try to rewrite my program in vs.
I have completed my design, but i need help with the code....
i need a help with-
"sound" - i obviously need to be able to play sound, i have looked in ms help in vs and they provide some keywords but i am getting errors when i debug.....
-how to load images from an xml file- (in need code for the call)
These will all get me rolling and allow me to release a beta......
I'm getting closer and closer
Because everyone has a different dialer or "incoming call screen," i have decided the best way to go about your fake call is to allow people to select a screen shot and a sound of their choice, creating a very customized realistic experience for every phone (as it would look just like the dialer on your phone) without having to input an obsessive amount of information. (caller name, picture, ect..)
thanks for your help in advanced
THANKS TO-
MRABIE
Attention:
The Release is Here
Wow, this is great. Ya, since fake call is no longer free this is a very amazing idea. I know a lot of people here will help you. We just have to wait. =)
Great idea, I downloaded that app a while ago when it was posted and was rather disappointed to find out it was fake freeware. A couple of suggestions, the aforementioned app would use the default ringer. The suggestion seems pretty simple from a logistics point of view but may be more difficult to program than I would imagine, when selecting a person with a ringer other than default associated use that one. Maybe have a call timer that will stay up and count until the end button is tapped. Hope this helps.
I didn't realize that the other software had gone commercial. Thanks for stepping up!!
bump............
What programming language are you using, considering Visual Studio supports several.
In vb.net your Wait method could be replaced by Sleep(milliseconds). Documentation. I am not sure, however, it this method is included in the compact framework, assuming that's the one you are using. Hope this helps somehow.
Full .Net documentation can be found here.
I am using .net but may consider rewriting again later after getting a release to rid the program of dependacy on the .net framework.
I Have updated the list, as i have gotten some stuff already figured out thanks to different people on the forums, THANK YOU
If you guys can help me out with this other stuff it would be greatly appreciated

TouchHDTweak - Any interest?

Hi, I'm a proud owner of a Sony Ericsson X1, and the developer of XperiaTweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=440035).
You can see the features of this application if you go to my website:
http://www.cliffords.nu
I've recieved some E-mails from people who are trying to use this application on a TouchHD, but that will currently fail (since it's developed for the X1), so I'm just wondering if there's any interest here for a special TouchHDTweak - version of my application? I don't have a TouchHD myself, but if there's enough interest I can try and develop a version for TouchHD and maybe get some help here when it comes to beta-testing it.
I think you would be a star in all our eyes for developing a version for HD. Please do go ahead. I know I will speak for all owners.
I would be very interested.
Would be very interested here too I'm sure there are a whole host of things to unlock about the HD architecture
I would love a TouchHD tweak! Right now I'd using Schap's Advanced Configuration tool 3.3 and the Diamondtweak program.
I really wish the ROM guys would get cooking too.
+1 please
HD tweak would be great!
Not to decry this generous offer from someone who has already been instrumental in what appears to be a successful porting of Panels from the Xperia, but i think before putting nelshh to a shed-load of extra work we should check to make sure the functionality he is proposing isn't already available in exisiting apps.
I haven't done anything more than a cursory assessment, but it looks like a number of the features of the Xperia Tweak are already available through existing TF3D and Diamond Configurators that mostly work fine on the HD. For example, some of what I spotted on the Xperia Tweak site is in Advanced Configurator. Other elements may not be appropriate to the HD.
So personally, i would suggest caution and that someone with a little more time than I have right now looks to compare the Xperia Tweak tool with exisiting tools.
Nelshh, do you have a complete feature list for your Tweak?
iain.fraser: you're absolutely right, There's some different apps that already does what my application is doing and more, but the idea behind my application is basically simplicity, such as a small number of the most asked for tweaks, and in addition device specific tweaks (such as the LED and Panel-tweaks for X1). And I'd be more than happy to write something for the TouchHD! If there's interest and if it finds it's own place amongst the other tools.
Really Interested too and I can help you (as soon as I've got the device) with the testing!
+1, It would be nice to have this at HD.
Tweak Away!
Your the man TweakMaster!!

If in light of my earlier comments you are still up for tackling the project, put me down as a possible tester
how many +'s are we allowed to give I would give +100 if my vote counts that many times
i'm in.
if you can make the LEDs work like the way X1 worked, you will be my god!
Tweak! Twaek! Tweak!
Sure I would appreciate such a project!!

I have a question - request. Have it for years now....

To wake up the device i just want to touch the screen or double click or touch the home button and wake up the device but not the F**** power button. Can this be done? Please?????
I use gsen and i can poweroff the screen and etc.
I see absolutely no reason not to

EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service) Animations

Hi all,
one thing I used to love on my Sony Ericsson phones was the EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service), mainly the little animations. For those who don't know EMS lets you include preset animations or sounds in texts by sending them as a code. The receiving phone then reads that code and shows it's version of the same animation/emoticon/sound.
Sadly the Diamond doesn't have this and I miss it a lot as they really brighten up texts. I believe though that the SE Xperia X1 does have EMS support so I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this onto the Diamond?
Many thanks,
Mik
hi mik, used to see you a lot on se-nse when I was a lurker modding my w810 lol
anyway I'm afraid I can't help you, also I think the x1 doesn't have the animations,it is really a htc device with an se badge.
I believe microsoft has to add the function to the messaging app for it to support the animations, but I don't think it'll happen.
Hi roflnova,
I'm still busy on se-nse, actually an Admin on there now
I had read that the X1 had EMS but obviously that info was inaccurate. However, surely this can be added with a software app and doesn't need M$ to implement it. I have found a few old topics referring to certain apps but they're all so old the links are dead or just go to something unrelated.
Anyone know which apps are available these days?

actually no has paid attention to this topic but its very good & urgent
just see this link
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa919404.aspx#
I guess it's something that long time WM users have never had so they don't miss it and aren't bothered.
Thanks for that link, I had seen that before but doesn't that just enable the use of an EMS client and still leave us needing that actual client?
So is there no good EMS service for the Diamond?
