where to set http proxy? - Networking

On my qtek 2020 (1.72 ROM) I can't find anywhere to set the proxy for Pocket IE to use. There's no settings tab when I choose options from PIE's menu. I can't find it hidden deep away in the connection settings eiter..
Does any one use an http proxy? Where did you set it? Do I have to dig into the registry, or does PIE on the XDA2 not support it?

Apparently, you can only set an HTTP proxy on certain "connections", e.g. "Work Connection" rather than "Internet Connection".
The GPRS/internet connections set up is really b0rked. The MMS composer sees more connections that settings|connections shows, which is another great thing - especially as the WAP connection isn't shown in the settings, and you probably need WAP push to receive MMS messages...
It's pretty ****ed up.

Help with cingular gprs settings/outlook pop3

Ok so i just got the us cingular media max bundle which has unlimited data/media net..
So i can get online.. but my outlook always gives me an error when trying to acces my pop3 email.
When i click on send/receive i get the following message
Cannot connect with current connection settings.
Shouldnt it attempt to connect to cingular gprs like the same way internet explorer does automatically?
Help please
Follow this path on your device:
START>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS>CONNECTIONS>ADVANCED>Select Networks
Your stock rom may be different from mine, but I have "My ISP" listed first, and then 'My Work Network' second. You may want 'MEdia Net' first, and 'My work Network' or 'My ISP' second. Depends on which rom you have... I have the latest Summiter rom... so that's why mine will be different.
thanks for replying
I currently have both set to media net
you should have the top setting as my isp the only difference between my isp and media net is media net has a proxy server set on it which allows you to view the http://home page which is your programmed homepage as you see on a standard phone through wap but the my isp doesn't have the proxy setting allowing you to go to standard webpages instead of wap pages you should have my isp on the top box and my work network on the bottom box

Can't get POP3 mail working with proxy

Greetings all, new user here with a TyTN issue.
I have a TyTN I am having trouble to send/receive POP3 mail while connected to Wi-Fi network with proxy server. I have searched web for solution but did not find anything specific, I hope someone can point me to the right direction here.
This issue only happens when I am connected to my work network. With my current setting I can browse web with IE but not send/receive POP3 mail. I receive following error message "Messages can not be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.".
My wireless network configuration are
all default except "Connects to:", which is set to Work instead of The Internet.
My proxy settings are
"This network connects to the Internet" - checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" - checked
Under Advanced, HTTP proxy's port changed to 8080, Socks proxy port changed to 8080 with sock 5 selected, WAP and Secure WAP were left blank.
My IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter settings are
"Use server-assigned IP address"
I have tested my TyTN in free Wi-Fi lounges where proxy isn't needed, I didn't have any problem send/receive e-mail. I have also tested send/receive e-mail via GPRS, that worked fine too. Discussing this issue with our IT department, they suggested to change setting under IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi adapter to "Use specific IP address" and uncheck use proxy server setting under Network setup. I was able to send/receive e-mail when applying the above 2 changes to bypass proxy server. My question now is can I setup mail to work with proxy server instead of change network settings to bypass proxy server? Any help'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Kaiser: How to set up proxy server settings over wi-fi?

So on desktop computers this is easy, just open up browser set up your proxy servers and done.
The only settings I can see that set up proxies on the kaiser are for GRPS/Dial-up/3G. But that's already set by my cell provider and it doesn't require a proxy (to my knowledge)
But I'd like to be able to access my home proxy when I'm using wi-fi (at home or away from home) I just can't find a way to set it in the system.
If anyone knows please let me know.
Thanks
i wish to know the answer as well
In Settings, Connections you can set up two Automatic connections 'Internet' & 'Private'. Typically these are 'My ISP' and 'My Work Network'. In the Private network settings you can specify your proxy. You then need to edit your WiFi settings for your Home WiFi - change the 'Connects to:' to 'Work' (as opposed to The Internet). When you connect to your home WiFi it should use the proxy specified.
Be careful with ActiveSync or Sync Centre as this can change these settings each time your device connects to your PC (change the connection settings in ActiveSync/Sync Centre on the PC so that the option 'This computer is connected to:' is NOT set to 'Automatic'.
Windows Mobile also supports Proxy Auto Detection as well. If this is the same as Windows proxy auto detection then it relies on either DHCP being configured to send Option 252 with the URL of the Proxy script and/or DNS with a host record or alias for the WPAD host in the devices domain - i.e. wpad.network.com.

Managing multiple (more than two) connections automatically

Hi,
I'm new to this forum, and I have tried searching for a similar entry here at xda-developers.
I have a problem managing multiple connection automatically with my HTC TyTN II (WM 6) device. Here's the scenario:
1. I have configured the Internet connection to be the Internet APN of my ISP (the first connection entry in the Connections / Tasks tab. This works ok.
2. I need to access WAP pages (available only to customers of the ISP I'm using) via the WAP proxy of my ISP. I have configured this in the second entry in the Connections / Task tab. I have configured the APN, and proxy server for WAP browsing. I use wsp:// as the protocol in the address field of IE. This works fine, as well.
3. I also need to use ActiveSync to access company E-Mail. Our company has a third APN for this purpose to access the Exchange server in the Intranet. I have configured this in the second section on Connections, or the Network management under "Programs that automatically connect to a private nerwork should connect using:". The problem is that I need to use both the WAP APN, and this Intranet APN. With current setup I need to manually select WAP APN, when I browse the WAP pages (available only via the WAP proxy), and the Intranet APN, when I would like ActiveSync to sync with the company Exchange server.
Now, I've also tried selecting "Auto pick" in Connections/Advanced tab->Select Networks->Edit (private network section). It seems to always pick the first one, since it's a working conection. I guess this is how it should work. The question is: is there a way to tell ActiveSync to use a particular connection, or put it in another way: is it possible have two private networks, so that WAP browsing would use one, and ActiveSync the other one automatically. Only the WAP connection is using a proxy server. Company E-Mail is accessed via diffrent APN with username, but without a proxy server.
Thanks for your time,
Minoru

Proxy on wireless

I've searched for this but can't find it - apologies if i've missed it!
Ok, the problem is at home my wireless works perfectly on the x1 - on the computer you simply set explorer/firefox to auto-detect the proxy settings, but at school where a proxy server (192.168.xxx.xxx) is needed, no applications will work via wireless on the x1, just by contract wap.
On opera I manages to find opera:config where i tried changing the http and https proxies (together and seperately) but whenever i look back at it these boxes are blank and unchecked - can anyone help?
