decisions, decisions!
Do i take them up on the offer and get a rubbish contract or do i wait and pay a huge amount.
ian
Hi ian
Seems like a very generous offer to me (who made you this offer?).
I took out a contract with O2 earlier this April. If offered similar deal i would jump to it.
I only wish that the new xda would be a lot lighter than the current model!!!! But you get an improved CPU + bluetooth. Thats enough improvement for me to be worth £100.
Cheers
xda
were you offered it by 02
regards kevin beecher
Where can we buy them? I would jump at the chance
lol £100 ?
hate to get folks hopes up but I read the MDA will be out for around $700+
XDAII for £100.... mmm more like £600
£100 XDA
I hate to reveal my sources (so i won't - but i will clarify my statement) but staff at certain retail outlets are offered contract mobiles including XDA for £100 as long as they take the contract offered. The member of part-time staff is a former student of mine (now at university) who comes to me for help and advice, and often passes on deals and useful information to me.
ian
Where is this retail outlet then. I could get a temp job and get the XDA then quit!
If you can get an XDA for that price then go for it
If you can get an XDAII for that price the GO FOR IT lol
Doesnt matter about the contract... if your getting it for £100
Remember there is nothing to stop you going for that contract and then going down to their cheapest.
Personaly I doubt it is an XDAII ( no offence)
but if it is then jump at the chance to get it for £100... just make sure its all legit
I know O2 were selling the old XDA at a discount (to staff) last year because they couldnt shift them fast enough... but I think £500 is a tad large a discount.
Good luck though,
if its genuine I'm jelous... if its not... I'll laff hehe
Was that posted 3 times or is this irish whiskey stronger than I thought?
nope only twice....
stop drinking that whiskey !
hehe j/k
whisky
hi
whats wrong with irish whiskey
Hey I never said that lol...
I dislike *real* whiskey anyways... Southern Comfort n coke and JD is tollerable I guess lol
£100 deal
not that i'm disappointed or anything but my deal (hah!) for an XDAII for £100 has fallen through. If anyone wants to try then find someone who works for a well known electrical retailer d-x--s for example and find out if they are willing to buy at staff discount a phone for you. d-x-n- staff get really good prices on mobile 'phones if they sign up for a specific network and contract.
ian
O2 / XDAii contracts are available from £99.99 via a host of High street O2 Dealers here in the UK, sample contract on Ebay, follow the link below:

£75 a month. Ouch!
I would imagine that for most users you could get a cheaper deal over 12 months by paying a bit more up front.
Then again what do I know - I'm fortunate enough to get my Xda II entirely free of contract as part of my job
cheap XDA II
My company also do a deals with O2, Vodafone for staff to buy a phone for 50% off onetime, and 25% off rental and call for life. So is quite common. So £200 is an achievalble street price with a bit of haggling. They are going to recoup this in rental and calls so they are not too worried.
They think that anyone that buys an XDAII, IS GOING to use lots of MMS, GPRS,surfing etc, otherwise they'd have bought a sim free phone from another vendor.
Get them while there hot again, O2 stores have got an error on there POS system, which they are not able to correct untill Friday, consequently, you can get a new XDA Mini S (HTC Wizard) for only £79.99 on whatever Tarif you want, including the low price base ones, got my two upgrades free but with a £50:00 trade in of a crap old nokia got myself a third for £29.99 and an additional £7:95.
So I am now the proud owner of 3 HTC Wizards which cost me in total the princeley some of £29.99.
So don't miss out get down to the UK O2 shops with your crappy old trade inns now before they get the system fixed.
Thanks Chaps,
Regards Ash'e
Is this right? You can buy a non contract wizard for £80?
I'd be interested in one for development...
V
Hi - what did you have to supply to get the £50 trade in - just phone or other bits of kit?

No, he said on whatever tariff you like, so probably 10 or 15 quid a month and 79 quid outlay initially.
Blimey, if I'd have known that I'd have stuck with o2. Ah well, never mind, T-Mobile seems fairly good and cheap...
Trade Whatever you want
Hey Guys
you can trade in whatever phone you like, as long as it boots and as long as you have its charger.
Then you get £50.00 back taken of the £79.99 leaving you with just £29.99 to pay (bargain) but here the really good part, untill the end of the week you can put it on any tarrif you want including the low band ones starting at £16:00 a month. But hurry chaps they won't let this keep going on for long.
Best Regards - Ash'e
As an Added Bonus
Oh & forgot to mention as an added bonus O2 are also offering DOUBLE MINUTES & TEXTS for SIX MONTHS on all UPGRADES & NEW CONNECTIONS (BONUS SCORE)
Regards Ash'e
PS - (Can you really go wrong chaps considering the real value of the Wizard)
(& Think of what the other poor sods in the rest of Europe have to pay.)
(Now if we could only get an I-Mode browser for the wizard to take advantage of O2 great new service, Still I live in hope, O2 I-Mode is totally free till the first of January & I-Mail is Totally Free till April 2006 eclusive to O2).
This poor sod is on T-Mobile netherlands and paid 110 euro for a 1 year 150 minutes (21 euro a month) contract renewal...
That sucks for me. Because i have an online contract, i can't take advantage of any of these deals.
The upgrade centre don't even have the XDA mini on their systems yet!!
So angry
Just tried this on in my local O2 highstreet store and they wouldn't do it. They basicaly said 'thats obviosuly an error, f**k off'.
Oh well, at least I tried...
I called O2 for an upgrade and they said I could have the Mini S for free or the Exec for £150.
Yep - got my XDA mini with O2 - lowest tariff, traded in a broken mobile.
Scott
Where have you had sucess doing this? I tried a shop in central london and the guy wasn't having it at all!
Hmmm. I need to look for a discount airfare r/t over there. LOL
low airfare.
well, new york london for only £120 check cheapflights.com
ehehehe
Geez, I haven't been into UK since I bought my nickel plated, Metisse framed, two barreled weber carburated, side hack mounted Trumpet...and then left my wife and kids in the hotel to ride it back to Germany...in November. LOL
Man, those were the days..197?
Check out This
http://www.mobileswizard.co.uk/display.asp?hs=xdaminis&tariff=none
to compare O2 plans and how much you will end up paying if bought online
and this for T-Mobile
http://www.mobileswizard.co.uk/display.asp?hs=mdav&tariff=none
I like the info on the right saying "Min Term Cost"
gives you and idea of how much you will end up paying.
Still the tradein offer (if you get in 25 quid) is cheaper making it. £217)
Or even if you dont get trade in and have an offline tarif for £16 you will be paying £291.
Think anyone can beat that??????
let me know I am after the phone.
Call O2 Store Uxbridge
Just got mine yesterday form the O2 Store in Uxbridge, payed a grand total of £29:99 for it on upgrade, on my low tarif asked the same deal is available on new contracts, if you don't believe me call the store on (01895) 252163 ask for Greg (Nice Aussied Chap) and you will see. That other O2 store is talking BS,
Regards Ash'e
Well Done, just been down to O2 in Bath, got mine on O2 25 £16 per month, all the staff have bought one this morning as well. traded in crappy old sony phone. bye bye exec..
Richard
i just got an 02exec with a 19pound per month plan ...
is there a way to get the wizard for 29 pound only without signing up for more months?
what is an upgrade? i dont get it...
thanks
Just received a free upgrade from O2 - it's an XDA Mini S.
Decided however that I might as well it - already got a perfectly good phone, and whilst the XDA Mini S is superb (much much better than it's predecessors) - I'm not really gone use it.
So - anyone want to buy it ? Comes with an extra belt case, and a Martin Fields Screen Protector (already installed by myself). Boxed, with all supplied accessories, manuals, software etc.
Will also supply the receipt in case of any warranty problems.
Looking for £225 - UK sales only. PayPal, BACS, Cash or cheque acceptable.
Got 100% positive eBay feedback over 120+ transactions - so I'm genuine.
Pls email me ([email protected]) or PM me here.
Thanks
Mark
Thats a lot of pennies mate for
a) Something that cost you nothing. (Not really a bargain)
b) Something that has just been blown away by the Hermes
It's a shame cos I have one of these Wizards and I love it. I had a perfectly good phone before my ppc but I wouldn't expect too much from that price me old mukka.

I agree it's been blown away by Hermes but disagree that it cost him nothing! It cost him 12 months at £35 a month or whatever - that ain't free. If you don't take a subsidised / free handset you cna negotiate line rental down to as little as £10/month. So it ain't 'free'...
Richard
So make me a (sensible) offer
£225 appears to be the closing price on good old eBay - but it is hassle etc (advertising, fees) - so would prefer to deal privately.
There's always someone who will buy it - I'm just trying to negate the possibility of being 'scammed' by someone on eBay (doesn't matter how hard you try - someone always chances their luck).
Thanks
Mark

Sorry to sound like I'm splitting hairs on this, but I really have gotta have my say, ha ha ha.
All I really want to say is that someone looking to buy a contract free phone would probably wait and pay a little more for the Hermes.
As far as the "Per month" tariff is concerned, Mark is going to have that anyway. He couldn't use the £225 to get out of the contract and as he says, he has a perfectly good phone which he will continue to use, assumedly on the existing / continued tariff he was on before.
This was obviously Mark's choice to stay on with O2 and as a result agrees to be bound to a 12 month contract anyway. Therefore, factoring the yearly tariff into a sale isn't really valid, surely.
LOL
Sorry, I really sound like I want to pi$$ on someones bonfire, but thats really not the case, just stating an opinion.
Just as an extra note, I upgraded with O2 to a wizard for free, the cost to a new contract was only £50 then.
A fortnight later when my other half could upgrade, she went from Nokia to a Motorola something or other but didn't like it. She returned it and stayed with the Nokia. O2 gave her £100 instead. (Credit or as a payment back to her.)
Just to add Mark, good luck with the sale, I just thought I'd stick my two penne'th in LOL.
I agree if you can make a bit of cash then go for it, I just think it could be a little late with a newer, faster model now available.
Cut the Guy some slack.........
............These phones are £400+ on Expandsys sim free. [So this one may well be locked to O2 but we can either accept that or fix it!!]
The rest of us got them 'free' when signing up to a contract of some description.
You're not forced to buy if you don't want to !!

I think the cheapest deal to just get the GS2 is with O2
£150 phone
+ £10.5/months for 24 months
- £50 cash back from topcashback or quidco
= £352 total
The cashback is a bit hit or miss since I haven't had mine tracked yet but others have theirs tracked. But in the worst case that the cashback wouldn't track, you still get the phone for £402, which is still less than what most retailers are selling the GS2 atm.
p/s1: the £10.5/month contract will get you 50 minutes and 250 texts
p/s2: O2 will also unlock your phone for free as well
Check Carphone Warehouse. Bought mine a few weeks ago 490 sim free.

What offer is there that is £10.5 a month? The cheapest I could get it down to was £13.50 on their site. Thanks
O2 force you to buy the £3 data bolt on. But you can always remove it later.
I got mine from unlocked-mobiles for around £440 shipped.

So you could simply remove that extra £3 after like a month? So only have to pay it once? That would be pretty cool if you could do that

Yes, if you do it as soon as your billing details are online on my o2, before the 1st billing date.
If you're really interested to buy Galaxy S2, pricing isn't important.

Is that 360 including contract + phone?
If it is then, what a steal.
Yeah for both phone and contract. I feel like i.ve stolen it. All i will say is always take the name and number of ther person giving out great deals.
When i got mine i know o2 were selling it payg for 399, but some peoples have been locked and others not, but if your planning on rooting it it doesnt really make a difference.

If people are still looking, Google Shopping yielding some cheap deals.
Unsure of tax and shipping costs, but cheapest new handset I could find was £230 (US site).
Another was £274 from a UK site. Unsure of how legit.
New handsets going on eBay for about £350.
Still holding out for a good deal! Anyone found some good deals?
Got mine brand new, sim-free & factory unlocked on bid on eBay for ... £375
Best deal I've done ever.

Any problems? And are you not in the u.s.?
I ordered mine from affordablemobiles.co.uk on the 11th of Jan and it arrived today. Great deal + free accessories too!
Received my Note today! Ordered a couple of weeks ago from affordablemobiles, seemed too good to be true compared to all the other o2 deals around but so far so good. I read up a little on them and the customer service is not the best and apparently the money back and gifts can be a pain, I just went for the best value o2 with decent data.
Anyone one considering the phone; going from dell streak I am very impressed, especially the screen sharpness and colours are beautifull, cant wait to start flashing random roms
Why do some people have to wait a couple of weeks and others have to wait less than one?
The better the deal the longer the wait?
I got mine out of a phones 4u store. I ended up getting it on o2 for £32 a month, 600 mins unlimited texts, 500mb data, plus bonus 500 o2 to o2 minutes.
No upfront cost.
Just go in and have a brass neck and don't take no for an answer, they DO have the power to make you a deal regardless what they say. You have a lot of power at contract renewal time because the market is saturated. Your network wants to keep you, and other networks want to poach you, so milk it for all its worth.
It might feel a bit uncomfortable telling them that the deal they're offering isn't good enough, but it;s worth it.

Was this a renewal or a new contract? I'm thinking of switching to O2, I initially wanted to because they offered £5 off O2 residential broadband if you have a phone contract but prices went up and we've kept the old plan without a price increase which is a better deal than the new O2 broadband contracts with a £5 discount.
But i noticed that they have new phones in stock much sooner than other carriers so i'm interested again.
