tiny mms

hi i have a x1 on o2 uk.. whenever i recieve a picture message the pictures are very tiny is there a way to fix this?
yeah there is i downloaded 3 files installed to and it works now cnt remember what they are but there are links on here simwhere
when on SMS message screen
menu>MMS Options> Photo resolution: Original
i think that is it
i checked and the photo resolution is already set to original
I think these setting refer to when you send mms, and not when you receive. Did you ask the people sending you the mms, if they have some setting that compress the image?
its with anyone who sends an mms, ive got 5 different people to try
Hey, yes it's a problem that occurs when you change from the original rom on your phone, because the operator will normally customise the mms settings for your phone and their network. It's quite an easy fix though, look at the bottom 3 posts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531527

Cannot send MMS

I am having hard time configuring my phone to send MMS. The configuration parameters seem to be easy and straightforward, but I just can't send MMS.
How would you exactly configure your N1 with the following parameters ?!?!?

I can't send mms either.
Trying to send to myself.
Used both stock messaging, and handcent.
Got the settings from 3 different sources, all the same, and the settings used to work with my magic.
Can't even send to myself. It seems to start sending, but then quits without an error message. I only get a timeout much later.
Can someone please help? Maybe I can pull a log to see what the problem is?
if it matters, I'm on danish operator happiimobil, which uses the TDC network.
are you using handcent ?? i heard somewhere that there's a bug with sending mms on the n1 whith handcent.
It's because the default SMS/MMS app doesn't compress the image you are sending.
If you try sending a small picture of say 30kb it will send but if you try sending a picture you took with the camera (900kb+) it wont send because networks don't allow images that big to be sent.
o2 in the UK has a 300kb limit and when I try to send a picture I took with the N1 camera it fails. but if I resize it and get it under 300kb it sends no problem
So I'm guessing that's the same problem your having? Or have you tried to send a small picture?
EDIT: Never tried Handcent so can't comment on that app.
I have the same problem...
But using TIM brasil...
Still having the problem. The size of the pic is not the issue : the messaging stock application says it's converting the image into a multimedia file, and it even says that it's compressing the file when it's too big. I also tried with a very small file 11kb and the same problem. When sending the message I got the icon of the letter with a little red clock on its left side ( same as when sending sms ) but after FEW HOURS I got the notification that the message has not been sent.

Click to collapse
Even if it says it is converting to MMS...it is NOT resizing the image and it will be send at its full size and will not go through.
I am on Att and had the same problem. i solved it by switching to handcent which works VERY WELL for me.
First I tried stock, then I tried handcent. In handcent I can see the message size is only ~30kb, so the size doesn't seem to be the problem.
Just now tried stock, and it also says it's resizing before it says it's converting to mms.
Size 168kb
Still wont send in either of the apps though.
Will try chomp when I get around to it, but I think it's not the problem
I get the same result as pakalrtb
I'm still having issues with this as well, even after switching to Handcent. It seems to only have a problem with pictures that are quite large in file size (ie outdoor in full daylight type pics that are 900+kb before resizing). When I attempt to send the picture, it says "file too large, resize?" so I hit resize, then it asks me again so I hit resize again. By the time I check the message details after hitting "send" the file is down to 20-something kb but still never shows up at its destination. If I pic an indoor pic or something taken at night it gets resized and sends and arrives promptly, so it seems to be picture specific.
Frustrating.
Tried handcent as well, same problem. And the funny/strange thing is that I get the notification of the non-delivery, hours, sometime a day later ...........

Try to delete all the APN.
Then do a 'reset to default' (under the menu) to re-populate your setting.
This works for me.
PROBLEM SOLVED .
It was a syntax error. In the MMSC field I was typing 10.6.32.2.......... instead of http://10.6........

still doesn't work for me.
Tried to run logcat, it says a lot of stuff about mms, but I'm kinda green on it, so it doesn't make much sense to me.
Please speak up if someone can make sense of it, then I'll post my logcat.
I might try to see if it works with cm or maybe when a new version of modacos desire rom comes out, but since anything else works so good, it seems like a waste to install a new rom to get something as simple as mms to work.
Found this tip elsewhere (can't remember where at the moment!)
But try "picsay" app from the app store. Allows you to resize pics easily and send MMS messages from them
Bit of a faff around compared to normally sending the message but resize seems to work ok and it's only an extra step or two.
Doesn't result in REAAAALLLY small pics either.

Mms settings

Hi
I have an HTC Hero with Android 1.5. The phone is on the Three Network. I have been trying to send picture messages - MMS - but am unable to do so. I have tried taking a photo and sending it, creating a message then attaching an existing photo and also creating a message and then taking a new photo but with no luck. The photos concerned are less than 300K which is the maximum sending size. My settings on the phone are correct. Please can someone help!
On some networks you have to have received an mms before it works properly.
Try sending yourself a message.
Also, did you reboot your phone after you set up mms? Maybe it has to re-register on the network or something.

Hi

is there a way bypass mms picture size setting ??

hello all when i try to send 2 or 3 pictures through text ill get and error( saying unable to attach file . file size too larger try sending via email , wifi ) ?
You might be able to increase it some through modifying system files, but remember that AT&T's network won't support messages larger than 600KB
