Changing phone skin - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi everybody,
I used to change dialer skins with DesignLab XDA Skin chooser but suddenly the skin is not changing.
Everytime I try to change it, the old one remains in use. And it's not the standard skin.
Anyone has seen this problem before?
If so how do you reset to the standard skin?
Where is it saved?
Thanks for your help

Hi Durius,
hmm, I never managed to change Dialer Skins with XDA Skin Chooser on my Himalaya Device. I rememer reading in this forum that the skin Chooser only works with XDA I Phones (but I may be mistaken). Just search the forum.
Instead I use V2R Skin Installer for Phone Skins.
You can get this at http://www.ppc-club.com
Additionally there are quite few Skins. Unfortunately you can D/L only two or three before they start charging you.
To be ahead of hshortt  , there are skins on his side too:

DOH! Pipped to the post again! hee hee

Hi,
I've used XDA skin chooser for sometime on qtek 2020 and it worked but then I could not change the phone skin anymore.
Now I've installed V2R and the question is that I want to use the t-mobile phone skin but I always get the skin previously installed.
So, what I would like to know is how to change the skin by hand...
Is there a way?
Thanks you all

Hmm,
maybe a more advanced user can point out a way to use the t-mobile customization cab located in the extended rom....
Or maybe you can use the Information provided in this thread:

Hi
I think the dialer skin is located ( at least on my O2 XDA2 ) under
windows\v2r\DialerSkins\o2_skin
I guess tmob will have something similar... so just exchanging these files should work

IntelliDialer Custom Skin

for all those who don't like the T-Mobile IntelliDialer Skin
i have tried to make that of O2.
have a look.
After installing the IntelliDialer cab file. Download the ZIP file, UNZIP it and paste all the files in your pocket pc's /windows directory. Soft reset if you don't see the change.
anybody knows how to access the IntelliPad Skin???
i'll try to modify it too.
Does this dialer work on the XDAII ?
The IntelliPad skin is in the dll's.
You will have to extract, modify & import the resources from all dll's in the IntelliPad cab.
You can use PE-Explorer (on the PC) to handle the dll's
It is do-able
I am very interested. Could youn please stick to blue-ish and skip any O2 logo's as that makes the skin of general interest.
I can try to add the skin into the roginal cab's if you like.
BTW: Do you have Intellialer working on your Himalaya???

I agree also, loos the O2 logo.
I tried installing the cab file on my Himalaya. Sadly it doesn't seem to work. Can anybody else who has tried post there experience. It would be great if it were to work with WM2003 also not just SE.

Nope, as soon as you switch to landscape you end up with the crappy T-Mobile sking although when you go back to portrait it works fine
@VW_ELM: If you could export the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone registry branch into a .reg file and post that, that would be great!
Awesome! thanks!
I saw some guy on hofo bragging he had the JAM version of this... any difference?
This version only doesn't support land because there are no landscape images included with it. See edsub's post for complete list.

Keyboard skins for WM2003SE devices (updated Feb. 01 2005)

Hi,
here's the keyboard skin replacement for WM2003SE WWE devices.
It will not work on non SE operating system.
If you want the same thing for non SE OS, let me know.
Uninstall:
As the mui file is used by the system, it is locked. That means if you want to uninstall these skins, first rename \windows\msim.96.dll.0409.mui to something else and restart.
After that you can uninstall it or install another skin.
There is also an option to skin "Block Recogniser" and "Letter Recogniser" as well... however it is not implemented in this version.
If anyone will be interested to have those two skinned as well, please let me know.
This .cab file is using the "Default_Keyboard" skin.
Additional skin previews are below.
If someone want to have some of those other skins, please let me know. I will generate appropriate installer on demand.
The same rule ) is valid for other than WWE OS languge versions...
I am not author of these skins. For authors/copyright please have a look here:

Did you mean the default look of the keyboard? Not skinned?
If this is the case, then you can delete/rename "msim.96.dll.0409.mui" from \windows directory...
But, well, I can create that one as well..

well, actually, I took the bitmaps out of their skins and i'm porting them to be compatible with WM2003SE. I mean, creating appropriate mui-s for SE.
That's why I said, that i'm not the author of the skin bitmaps/ideas/whateverelse/graphicdesign/...
Those skin mui-s published on their site are not WM2003SE compatible.
However, mine do.
Skinning the keyboard is just replacing bitmaps in .dll files directly or through MultilanguageUserInterface extensions....
hope it's clear now )

Orange Today Plugin

Hi guys,
I was trying different ROM's on my Universal today, to see what the different operators were offering. When I came across the Orange Today Plugin. I like the idea of it, but not the setup.
So, I was wondering if anyone here knew how to add, remove, or change the items in this plugin ?
I did a little search of the forum for an answer to this question, but it seems i'm looking to do the opposite to what everyone else is doing.
re
could u be more specific...
In this screen dump, you can see the plugin.
I'd like to be able to change the selections and the links in each selection.
For example, change the five links in the Web selection of the screen dump to five of my own URL's.
Or better still, add or replace one of the selections in the plugin with one that points to My Device. That when highlighted would have links to 'My Docs' 'SD Card' 'Program Files' etc.
I hope that makes sence.
I'm searching the same solution.
I'm searching the same solution.
Hi filippodisvevia,

Look in your Windows folder for a file called Full_one.xml, the URL's are at the top and the link names are near the bottom.
Good luck

Hi cudo,
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=61711&highlight=today+plugi+orange you can file the cab e some other file.
I'd like to personalize the cab if I understand how it work.
It works on qtek 9000\jasjar\xdaexec so I think is good for t-mobile too.
Hi Guys,
That plugin is from the SPV M3100 and works diferently to the Universal version. See my post at the bottom of that link above.
If you want the proper Universal Today Plugin with bigger icons for the Universals bigger screen. You'll have to install the Orange M5000 ROM, as its built into it. Plus the Orange ROM has just been updated with a new Radio driver.
I'm using the new Orange ROM, with the last O2 Ext ROM, and the Signed_ORUK_HomeScreenReg.sa.CAB from the Orange Ext ROM as it has the Reg settings for the plugin. And everything is working great. 8)

I installed the cab posted and works fine on my wizard. Although u do lose all your other today plugin functionality. But the plugin is handy. even though limited in use.
I was thinking of finding some great developers on this site who would like to creat such a program but which could be used alongside the other today plugins. Anyone interested let me know.
Cheers,

What do you mean "finding some great developers"?
@filippodisvevia,
Heres the CAB file, but it ONLY works with the Orange ROMs. As the files needed aren't in the other ROM's.
@gtm55,
You need the Orange ROM installed before the CAB file will work.

Great or good developers. Who are able to program such a plugin. because u have beginner programmers, novice programmers, and advanced programmers and if you like great programmers.
Just to keep it simple a person or persons who are able to create such a apps, which is usable in different WM phone devices. I just used great, because I know there are some pretty great (good) programmers on this site.
