WAP browsing with Vodafone Italy - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Can you tell me the configuration for connection and settings for Netfront or EZWAP ?
It's been quite a while since I can't use WAP with Vodafone...
Did they change something ?
Thanks,

I never used Netfront or EZWAP, but if you go here
www.windowsmobile.it
in the FAQ section you will find all the parameters you need to type in for Vodafone (but also for the other IT providers), whatever software it is...
I hope this helps.

O2 UK Wap Settings

Hi all
After updating to Special Edition rom 1.2, I've found that my settings for WAP have dissapeared. I have ezwap installed, but the dial-up number is not there anymore. Can anyone please tell me what the settings are for UK O2 WAP - ie telephone number dial-in?
If anyone could supply these details, i'd be very grateful.
Thanks

have you used the auto-config also included in v1.2, i too am in the UK but have had no problem with wap. ione thing you might like to check, if you go into 'tools' 'options' and look at connection you may find 'connection' shows ~lan and home page as a file on the xda. change connection using the drop-down menu and home page to http://wap.o2.co.uk. hope this helps.
It did help!
Thanks

EzWAP Problems after upgrading to WM2003

I upgraded to WM2003 in Jeff's fabulous kitchen. Everything works great. My ISP has different access points for wap and www over gprs. It works with WM2002 very well but with WM2003 does not. What could be the possible problem? I guess WM2003 has more problems rather than advantages (if any, of course. I haven't discovered any, except for the character counter in sms message composer). This forced me to downgrade the ROM to Jeff's 3.17, which is perfect in all respects.
They say Pocket Internet Explorer can do WAP since WM2003. Haven't tested it, never use WAP.
wm2003 & WAP
The main problem is that PIE 2002 or 2003 don't understand wml. Yes, I tried with required access point & gateway but it just does not connect. The problem is that I really need to browse some wap info as these pages are not available on www suitable for xda.
Anyway, I am perfectly happy with Jeff's 3.17 ROM. I get WM, I get ezWap. Everything works very well.
One problem, though a little out of place. tdLaunch sometimes makes the Xda crash. It happens, be it in ROM or installed separately.
I think its yr configuration or yr ISP.
Ive been using EzWap and PIE to do wap extensively
on gprs with either PPC2002 or wm2003.

You are right!
Pocket PC phone version WM2003 has more problem than advantages in Pocket PC phone.
but I'm using IPAQ WM2003 no such problems at all!

You may be right about the isp. but they are not in a position to solve my problem. They have never heard of PPC, they don't know the difference in services provided, they don't know what are the configurations. All they know is to send the configuration by sms to the user's mobile phone, which is useless in case of xda.
However, I am sure PIE does not support wml. Can you tell me how do you make it understand wml?
Can you access these pages?

http://wap.ft.com/

Because my PIE can
You should be able to browse any WAP site on the Internet through the Internet connection. However if your operator has both WAP and Internet connections then the WAP one will probably only allow you to browse their own WAP gateway site, and possibly other WAP sites through the WAP gateway.
In Pocket PC you cannot set the Internet Explorer to select which connection you will use. It defaults to the Internet setting. As you must define the WAP proxy using Work Settings, this is of no help to you.
The best solution is to create a new connection settings area, configure both Work And Internet locations to use it, and put all you connections in there. Then manually select Internet or WAP when you want to switch.

Thanks.
I have tried all the options, this one too. It does not work. I found use of EzWAP 2.5 more convenient, as it has it's own proxy/gateway configuration area. It does not depend on gateway config of connection manager. Further, it allows you to choose your nodcm connection.
What puzzles me the most is that EeWAP 2.1 or 2.5 did not work with Jeff's WM2003. It works with Jeff's ROMkitchcn 2002.

GPRS setting for E-plus

I think i entered the correct GPRS settings for E-plus germany, and yes i can connect, but when i want to see a page on the internet exploirer its says cannot open page
what is wrong
sounds like a wrong dns server
change it to the right one or change it to any right one
on pc's you can use pretty much every dns server there is
not sure if grps is different but i doubt it
no I do not think that is it.
it says that it cannot find the requested site.
Ps i did try different dns
What I see now is in the gprs monitor there is no value for GPRS speed nor there is any value for GPRS block usage
Any help is appreciated

Hi guys, sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I'm having problems setting up E-Plus GPRS on my MDA II. I tried setting up GPRS according to the MDA II manual and also by entering the same exact settings as on my Motorola V525. It accepts the profile but doesn't connect.
Where do I put which settings? I'm quite confused.
TIA to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.....

Just trying to help you.
As a reminder, you have the web connection and the wap connection.
Concerning pages, both IE and OPERA have in the settings the "mobile view".
In France, both work perfectly well. However, depending on the contract package you have, whilst WAP could be free, WEB is paid for.
I would suggest you contact your provider who could be able to help you configure your Cruise.
Good luck, Allah Ma'ak.

Vodafone Live! problem with HTC HD2

I can't seem to access Vodafone Live! properly on my HD2. I cannot see the full content like on my N95 phone. I just get text and a lot of missing content. I have contacted vodafone and htc but they seem to not understand. I have setup the required settings/proxy to access Vodafone live!. Is it a windows mobile issue/compatibility? Or can it be fixed? If so how?

I think you will need to set up the proxy in opera / PIE , i m not with vodafone anymore, so i m not 100% sure. But when I help my friend set up optus, opera doesnt work, need to type in "config" in the URL bar to set it up.

uncheck the proxy settings
start - settings - connections - connections - setup my proxy server -
The quickest way to access Vodafone Live on the HD2 is to change your data settings to use "WAP" instead of contract internet.

Thats correct because with those settings it can only access the vodafone live! page. Here are screen shots of what I get which is very limited compared to my Nokia N95:
With opera:
As you can see it is only displaying text and it has very limited/missing content like mobile tv for example.
Any suggestions why that is guys?
To belsj can you post screenshots of what you get when your acessing vodafone live!?

I hope you can see it.
Did you try to flash a different Rom, try one of Dutty or Miri.

You have to go to My Vodafone and disable this "Service" from vodafone which extracts the content from the page for Phones that dose not have a real browser. After that you can surf normal.
Vodafone Live requires a proxy server to setup only in windows (except from a few third party applications which dose not use the windows settings). The proxy server is why this service is so cheap. It makes sure you can only use the HTTP Port (80) and HTTPS Port (443). All services which working over HTTP or HTTPS are working over Vodafone Live.
In example Exchange Push works because it uses HTTPS (also Google Sync because it uses the same protocol). I also able to use apps like PocketTwit or the Facebook client and can hear live Podcasts and Webstreams with Kinoma Play. Also the HTC Services like Weather or Facebook works.
It is also possible to tunnel SSH over it so you can access any port you want. But i dose not found any good SSH client which autostart, autoconnects and autoreconnect if the connection is lost and all in background.
Its also possible to use it from you Notebook when you set up you browser to use the Vodafone Live proxy server. But its server if you tune the borwsers user agent string to a mobile version, because i dont know if Vodafone review its logs if someone uses a PC Browser to surf over it since it is not allowed in the terms of use.
Make sure you setup the proxy server under connection only for HTTP and Wap not for Socks.
Vodafone live
looks like another service provider portal designed to increase their revenue from mobile data use.
