Thats all.
Greetings, Kaputter
i tried xda unlock, but it says error getting unlock code... what will i do now... im badly in need of some expert help here...
then you need to flash your ROM with SER v 1.2 which will unlock your device with the first boot
I'm trying to unlock my old XDA, I have foolwed the instructions given on this site but nothing seems to work......HELP!!!!!
The device information is as follows:
ROM version: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date: 05/15/03
Radio version: 4.20.00
Protocol version: 32554
Trying it via the USB sync.
Any suggestions??
Unlocking XDA 1
I have read and read and read the forum on how to unlock my XDA 1 (XDA II was a sinch!) but the XDA 1 is causing problems. I started with the error below and tried upgrading my ROM - getting error messages on not being able to unlock and that I needed W Modem.
Can upgrade using SER 1.2 without a unix box, then unlock all using the USB cradle?
Hope someone can explain in even more simple terms
Appreciate it!
I notice that ser 1.2 works with TMobile in the USA but doesnt say anything about ATT Wireless.
Should I infer that the ser 1.2 isnt a good idea then?
My PocketPCPE is :
ROM:A.30.09
Rom Date: 01/01/04
Radio version: A.33.02
Protocol version: 1.3.3
Unit is a wallaby PW10B1
Thanks for any advice you can give.
Flash your xda using ser 1.2, this will unlock the xda, I suggest backing up your existing rom to sd card or using xdatools, once you have flashed the xda you can then restore your original rom using the sd card method. Using sd card method overcomes any country id/incompatible rom errors.
A Unix box is not needed, just a standard pc.
Flashing with SE1.2 isn't always enough. I've got an XDA-1 from T-Mobile that shipped with the following:
ROM 4.01.16ENG
RS 6.25.02
Flashing it to SE1.2 worked fine, but the XDAUnlock gave same "Error...unlock code" msg others have seen.
I'm very hesitant to get into RS flashing (for obvious reasons) but there really doesn't seem to be any other way around it in this case. Then again, I worry even that won't really solve the problem (e.g. if I go back to 6.25.02 RS won't the problem potentially just return?).
Hoping for some help unlocking it without RS flashing.
You could try xda manipulator and a serial cable, otherwise I think radio stack will need to be changed, before doing ANYTHING with the radio stack please read on this forum all the problems you may encounter, hopefully there will be a solution for you among these pages.

This is site is excellent. I'm very impressed. There is a wealth of information here. I wasn't able, however, to find the answers I was looking for as of yet, so please help if you can...
I have two Siemens SX56 PDA Phones.
Both have ROM version: A.30.09 ENG.
Both have ROM date of: 01.01.2004
Both have Radio version: A.33.02
I would like to use XDAunlock.
I see that my ROM is too new for it to work.
Can I safely do the following in this order?
1. Overwrite the ROM with XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2
2. Unlock with XDAunlock
3. ReOverwrite the XDA SER v1.2 with the AT&T ROM A.30.09 ENG
Am I missing any steps here?
I will lose all my data and need to backup first right?
My PDA is just a "PC" and all my AT&T account data is on the SIM right?
Thank you for all your help.
Sorry guys because I know this is going to annoy some folks but I just got an XDA 1 and I'm a total div with it.
So my XDA is locked, no surprise there....I want to unlock it and eventually use a 3 sim in it....I followed the tutorial (wizard) about unlocking but no joy...Here's what I have
Rom Version 3.17.03 ENG
Rom Date 05/15/03
Radio Version 4.21.02
Protocol Version 32S54
The wizard says I can unlock with the ROM I have so I have first done a full back up using Active Sync (just in case you understand). I hten downloaded XDAUnlock and transferred it to a directory I createdon the XDA called...XDAUnlock...no suprises there either....I navigated to the file and double clicked and....
I get "ERROR GETTING UNLOCK CODE"
I dont mind if I have to use the XDA Developers ROM to get this to work bt I have Tom Tom and Check Point installe and wouldn;t want to loose them......
I'm sure I'm doing something very obviously wrong and thisis actaully quite easy but I'm now at a total loss.
Any help would be much appreciated....
Don't know it exactly.
Maybe this

is your problem.
It works with older Radio Versions, but i never heard of this one.
Some US users have the same problem as you with their newest Radio Stack

Do you know if the Radio Version be changed?
Unlocking problem similar to Fritz's
I have an XDA 1 which had been unlocked by a shop (I was a bit scared then), and it worked fine on Orange, my preferred provider. Recently I fell over and damaged the unit, which I sent to O2 for repair. It was returned working but locked to O2 again. I've tried "Unlock.exe" but get "Error getting Unlock code", so I tried the Special Edition ROM which has worked perfectly in the past on another XDA 1 (32Mb version) which I bought as a spare. The Special Edition ROM loaded fine on the 64Mb, but I didn't get the little dialog box about SIMunlock. The phone is still locked and I don't know what to do next. I sold the 32 Mb unit when I got the 64Mb one back and don't have the technical details, but the 64Mb details are as follows:
VERSION
Rom Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Rom Date: 05/15/03
Radio Version: 4.21.05
Protocol version: 32S54
HARDWARE
CPU: ARM SA1110
Speed: 206 MHz
Ram size: 64 MB
Flash size: 32 MB
Flash chip type: 28F128
Data bus: 32 bits
LCD: 240 x 320 TFT
Colours: 4096
IDENTITY
Model no: PW10A1
Platform: PocketPC:
IMEI: ***************
Can anyone help, or point me towards a possible solution. Thanks in advance.

According to my last posting, i would say the problem is the radio stack version.
You could try to downgrade to a t-mobile radio version 3.x and then unlock your device.
But flashing the radio stack is very dangerous.
Many people ends in a paperweight....

If you look in programs list on xda with special edition rom you should see the xdaunlock prog, have you tried clicking on it on your xda to see if it works or gives error?
i know that this is old stuff but i cant find what i need (i am new at this) sorry!
from what i found i have a wallaby (pw10b1) that i want to unlock. it was purchased from tmobile usa and my account with them has been closed for over a year. i am with cingular and want to use this device. i downloaded xdaunlock.exe loaded it using hotsync, clicked on it and get "error getting unlock code" here is what i have:
rom version: 3.14.40 eng
rom date: 11/26/02
radio version 6.18
protocol version: 324e4
what do i need to do to unlock this thing?
You need a newer ROM including the wmodem function.
Easiest was is downloading XDA Special Edition ROM 1.2 and install it on your device.
This ROM is based on 3.17.03 includes WModem, the unlock-tool and some other nice applications....
HTH
Stefan
Thank you for the info. I am downloading it now.
I have read many posts on this site that pertain to unlocking the Wallaby.
I have not actually tried it yet becuase I read that the XDAtools does not work on a wallaby without wmodem.exe. I happen to have a unit that seems to old for the XDAtool unlock and I want to make sure I have this straight.
The Wallaby is:
ROM Version: A.30.09 ENG (upgraded from ppc2002)
ROM date: 01/01/04
Radio version: A.20.10
Protocol version: 324e4
Model No.: PW10B1
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi there. I would like to know whether you can upgrade the ROM version of the Xda to a recent one and also if you can unlock it.

but after alot of experimenting i have found a solution. i thought i'd post this to help anyone else out with the same problem!
I bought an M600 on orange PAYG however on inserting my orange contract sim i can use the phone but cannot send SMS messages or adjust phone settings, if i attempt to all i get is the message above.
having spoken to orange about this several times it turns out to be a sim compatibility issue. orange however do not support sim swapping all they can do is send out sims compatible with the handset they sent you! i.e the N73 i got on upgrade.
So my solution, i paid imei-check to CID unlock the phone, i actually already unlocked the phone using lockiwiz but that will only remove the simlock on a G4 and AFAIK imei-check are the only people to unlock the CID.
once unlocked i backed up the shipped rom to SD as described in the prophet WIKI (just in case i needed to restore it to orange settings) and then upgraded the rom.
i tried several shipped roms and eventually found this rom the
RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_?QtekWWE_Ship.exe

to not only work but also be in english. its a great rom, very basic without all the junk orange supply as standard
I don't really know why this has solved my problem i think its something to do with the radio rom but whatever it is it works perfectly!
below is my phones new info, if someone with the orange Rom could post the same I'd be interested to compare the versions.
ROM version: 2.20.7.34 WWE
ROM date: 7/10/06
Radio version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.24
ExtROM version: 2.20.7.114
I hope this helps someone out there!
for discussion purposes
That sounds weird why it works like that since my understanding of unlocking CID was merely so that one could install different ROMs. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong here.

it is!!!! i needed to update the rom to get it to work! as above i stated that i changed from the orange rom to the qtek one, hence CID needs to be unlocked

Afaik, if you remove IPL/SPL from the ROM (There should be tutorials somewhere around here on how to do it) you don't have to CID unlock your phone.
I would really like to try this! I am always getting the same error so often whenever I send a new sms. I have an i-mate JAMin, prophet touch X ipl&spl 2.20, gsm 2.69. I can't find the ROM you're talking about in the xda-developer's ftp. Can you please upload it? Thank you so much!
its on the wiki page

Okay If I installed this, do I have to reinstall wm6 and then my current ROM again(Prophet Touch X)?
yes i expect so, i'm no expert, thats just the way i solved the problem on mine!
i think it has to do with the radio rom version
You can update the radio ROM without having to change the normal ROM.

I am currently using v2.69. Does it mean I have to downgrade or test other versions? How about you? What version are you using guys?
hey as i stated, i'm not entirely sure what eaxctly it was that the replacement rom fixed but it did fix it!
Are you guys using orange M600s? whats your rom info?
mine was:
ROM version: 2.20.7.34 WWE
ROM date: 7/10/06
Radio version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.24
ExtROM version: 2.20.7.114
unfortunately i had my phone stolen so i can't help much more than that.
Okay I have fixed mine. I tried all versions but only version 2.30.21 of Radio ROM only fixed my problem. Thanks guys for all the help.

if so - what is a radio rom (and what does it replace?)
can you run these radio roms with wm6.1? or does it mean going back to 5?
sorry for all the questions i am despirate to get my phone working!!
