I've got an XDA II using a Orange UK SIM Card.
I've obtained the various GRPS and WAP settings for use with Orange and I can surf the web (BBC, eBay etc.) and retreive emails etc.
I want to access WAP sites as the data volumes will be much smaller and some of the mobile sites are quiet useful.
How to I access the Orange World wap website?
I enter "wap.orange.co.uk' and I get a message saying connecting to 'Orange GPRS WAP' and then nothing happens.
My settinghs for 'Orange GRPS WAP' in Connection/My Work Network are:
Connection Name: Orange GPRS WAP
Modem: Cellular Line - GPRS
Acess ppoint name: orangewap
username:
Password:
Domain:
(3 entries above are blank)
I still have the O2 setting setup along with an entry for Orange CSD WAP.
I have have the auto-pick option selected
Settings for Connections/My ISP are:
Connection Name: Orange GRPS
Modem: Cellular Line GPRS
Acess point name: orangeinternet
Usernamem Password and Domain are all blank
and Auto-Pick is selected
I still have the O2 settings setup,
Any suffestions?

Mike

ok ive just installed the new imate rom and finaly decided it was time to get my gprs settings set up but im haveing a bit of a problem.
this is what im doing, i am trying to use the o2 payg gprs data settings
im making a new connection
"enter a name for the connection"
o2 gprs
"select a modem"
cellular libe (gprs,3g)
clicked next
"access point name" 02 gprs
clicked next
"uaer name" payandgo
"password" password
now for domain ive been told on 3 calls to use payandgo.02.co.uk
this is where my problem is because the box only allowes me to type payandgo.02.co.
as for the advanced tab i was told to leave them as use server assigned ip address on both tabs
i havent gotten any further than this and if i leave it as payandgo.02.co. i cant get it to connect to the gprs network at all
o2 said they cant help me as its not there software all they will do is give me the settings .... bahhhh stupid customer support lol
well any help is apreciated guys ........ thyis board has been a life saver since i got the phone
your access point name doesn't look right. Most probably that's where payandgo.02.co.uk needs to go.
well according to
http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
its this
Code:
O2 GPRS settings (Email/Web):
Homepage: http://pda.o2.co.uk/
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
HTTP Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Port number: 8080
Email servers (POP): mail.o2.co.uk
Email servers (SMTP): smtp.o2.co.uk
DNS Servers: 193.113.200.200 and 193.113.200.201
and that looks decidedly different to what you have been told. According to the site there is no difference between PAYG and Contact like there is on Vodafone
Ive used the settings from this page to setup my gprs so i dont doubt the info is correct, but cannot confirm the o2 settings, im on Voda
try them, worth a shot
ive tryed with those settings and it just says that it cant connect. is any body else useing o2 payg uk gprs on there phone wo could tell me what they have
chears guys
Try this :-
O2 GPRS settings (WAP):
Note: Different settings for contract and PAYG (Pay as you go)
Homepage: http://wap.o2.co.uk/
APN address (contract): wap.o2.co.uk
APN address (PAYG): payandgo.o2.co.uk
Gateway (IP) address : 193.113.200.195
Username : o2wap (contract) / payandgo (PAYG)
Password: password
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
Port number: 9201
Its from : http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
You will also find MMS settings etc there as well.
Also do a search in this forum, somewhere there is a cab file to download that will set it all up for you correctly.
why did you install the imate rom BTW?
i updated to the imate rom as i had problems with the o2 rom,
still havent got it to work yet. i mite take it in to an o2 store and see if they can set it up for me ... the people on the o2 help desk are idiots lol
I have unlocked my M600 thanks to the great instructions on the site and am now using my Vodafone sim. However, all GPRS settings on the phone are still set to orange as are the MMS settings. I have tried changing them all manually (very longwinded) and can manage to get internet access using GPRS but I cannot get MMS to work! Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately I still can't get MMS to work. I think the problem is that I don't know how to create the mms server. On the MMS settings it has the OrangeMMS server and if I go to the details of that it says connect via OrangeMMS but I can't find the settings for that anywhere. On my friends vodafone it says connect via default server.

Hi All,
I dont actually have a XDA I have a iPAQrw6815 smartphone running WM5. But I wondered if anyone has a WM5 XDA connected to the T-Mobile UK data network via GPRS? I've been looking at various websites for the last week, I've spoken to t-mobile and they say the settings are correct but when i try to connect i get the following message:
Dialed: general.t-mobile.uk
"The answering modem has disconnected.
To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings."
My current settings are:
connection name: T-mobile UK GPRS
modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name: general.t-mobile.uk
username: "user"
password: "one2one" (i've also tried, "wap", "mms" & "pass" - recomendations from other websites)
Proxy Settings: proxy server = 149.254.001.010 Port = 9021
I even tried the "Auto Configurator" that retrieves the settings from the network and that didn't work either!! (Not sure if this app is a iPAQ thing or is standard on WM5 smartphones???)
Any help would be appriciated.
Lexa.
T-Mobile

GPRS APN address: general.t-mobile.uk
Username : user
Password: wap
Port number: 9201
SMTP email server: smtp.t-email.co.uk
from
http://www.pda-friendly.net/PDA_GPRS_Settings.htm
works for me.
i dont use the proxy server, that is something they want you to use, but should not be needed.
do you get an error message?

Did you set up the settings for My Work Network as well as the O2 mobile internet? Also, have you checked the IP addresses and gateways carefully?
The appropriate settings for MMS are:
MMS:
Server Name O2UK
Gateway: 193.113.200.195
Port 9201
Address http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Via My Work Network
Size 100k
Wap 1.2
My Work Network settings:
O2 Active
Cellular GPRS, 3G
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
user o2wap
p/w: password
Advanced: Server Assigned IP address and DNS
For completeness, the O2UK 3G settings are:
Connection Name: O2 Internet
Access Point: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: faster
Password: password
DNS: 193.113.200.200
Alternative DNS: 193.113.200.201

Many thanks, I haven't been able to get MMS working & I had O2 give me the settings.
only a suggestion but call o2 and find out if your still provisioned for gprs mobile web etc, as sometimes the settings just dissapear from there system for your account, this happened to me a couple of times .
also have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1200467#post1200467
might help.
I installed the Dopod ROM (for English and GPS) and don't have the settings for Orange MMS. Their website and customer service is 100% unhelpful. I've tried putting in settings that I found on the web, but doesn't work. Does anyone have the correct settings? Here's what I tried:
Configuration: Orange MMS
Server Name: Orange MMS
Gateway: 10.250.255.183
Port: 9201
Server address: http://mms.orange.nl:8002
Connect via: Orange ISP
Sending size limitation: 300k
WAP version: 1.2
Orange ISP:
Name: Orange World
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS/3G)
Access Point: Internet
I know that the ISP settings are correct, because I can access websites. I checked that my account has MMS enabled.
