Hi All,
I have a problem with my record button my my XDA II, when I push the button nothing happens....
I have tried changing the program that launches and it works 100%, for example if I say load up notes when pushed it loads up a new note.
But if I say load up recorder it does not load it up, nothing happens... I don't like using notes for recording as it is recorded in a note file and I can't get the recording out to a wave file....
I also liked it that when holding the button it automaticly use to record so you did not have to use the sylus at all...
Does any one know how I can fix the problem I am having?
I know I can asign to load up "Note" and then just close the not hit the Tape looking Icon then hit the record button and it will do the same thing but would be great to get it working back the way it should be...
Many thanks in advance!!!
I found out that it was Battery Pack Pro 1.01 that was causing the problems, as it was using its own "Power Buttons"... Turned off it's "Power Buttons" option and every thing seems to work 100% now
great!
fudgebottom you are great!!
i was just loosin my mind!!
thank you!
let's hope that battery pack's team resolve this bug!
ciao

Does anyone else have this problem? My red shutter button is not always reliable. Normally I can long press it to open the camera app. But it only works about 30 to 50% of the time. When it fails to work, I manually open the camera app from the apps menu, and the shutter button will simply autofocus and then beep twice when I half-press it. Trying to take the photo by fully pressing it does nothing. The on screen shutter button works perfectly every time. The button is not physically defective, since it does respond with an autofocus attempt and two beeps, so I think it's software related.
My phone is 2.2 OTA and rooted. To ensure there is no other conflict with another app that uses the camera, I used Titanium Backup to freeze all those apps I installed (Evernote, Google Goggles, etc.) and unfroze all the original Verizon bloatware. Still, after rebooting the phone, the little red shutter button only works less than half the time. Any ideas?
I had this problem myself. I started using the on screen shutter button (and found that it actually takes better photos). I got sick of trying to use the dang thing, so I used Tasker to map it to toggling my auto brightness and 20% brightness. Best thing I ever did...
I didn't think of using Tasker to remap that button. Very cool. A search shows that other folks have problems with the lens shutter but not with the shutter button so I wondered if it was just me. Hopefully it's a bug they are aware of and will fix it in the next update. I'd still like to use that button for the camera.

Hey, can someone include step by step instructions for how to accomplish this with tasker?
Thanks
Open Tasker
Click New
Enter Profile Name and click OK
Click Event
Click Hardware
Click Button: Camera
Check Stop Event
Click Done
Select a premade task or create one
Click Done
Click Apply
Thanks for the instructions, I'm still new to tasker and wanted to try this.
What is the full name of the app you used to change the function of the camera button?
-Droid X- 2.2 (rooted)

That would be Tasker
I have also noticed this problem after 2.2 dropped.
Almost 100% of the time if I woke up my phone, unlocked it, and pressed and held the camera button, it'd vibe really quick as if it was going to open the camrea aplication, but if I give it a second, and try again, it works like a charm.
But it seems you've already worked out a solution!
Hope this helps someone out there pleagued with yet another 2.2 bug!
I didn't find anywhere in this forum, but if someone has found it before I apologize.
I normally assign longpress-call button to camera, just because I prefer to take photos with my hd2 on every occasion. Today I recognized that, after opening camera application by longpressing the call button, you can make a shot when you "longpress" call button again.
Normally touching the screen is ok for me, but it can help when taking self-pictures. It is not so easy to find exact touch point when the screen is on the opposite side.
One can prefer other applications but this is easier for me.
wow, i'll have to try it because that sounds very useful and i have never seen this tip on this forum, and i read about 10 newest/updated threads here every night! closest thing so far was scilor's leo camera keys app (see point 2 below).
i am currently using android 24/7 so not sure WHEN i'll be able to try this tip, but i'm sure other readers will report back their findings.
i would like to add a few more notes on your finding just to add more information to the thread:
1. by default, long press send is mapped to speaker-phone mode. so you can long press send when the phone rings to answer the call directly in speaker-phone mode. you can also long press send during an active phone call to switch back and forth between speaker-phone. so speaker phone toggle functionality cannot work if long press send is mapped to camera.
2. scilor's leo camera keys application is also worth checking out because it allows mapping the snap picture action to the volume up/down keys.
so point 2 is the only alternative for those users that want to keep long press send as the speaker phone toggle, while the OP's suggestion does not need any apps to be installed, but will kill the speaker phone toggle shortcut.
yes, great find..good job
I am currently using Autoloudspeaker 1.5 from Zevele. It is very usefull while driving etc.
I tried scilor's app before but It caused some problems (because other applications or my rom which I have used at that time.)

I found a way to take sreenshots with the built in method.
You have to press home button and then quickly hit the back button.
And voila you have your Screenshot. They are stored in /sdcard/sreencapture.
Don't you mean hold the back key then quickly press the home button?
Been using that since last year on the leaked froyo roms.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Yea you are right its easier. I just didnt knew it before. Its easier than using shoot me.
This will only work if you have ScreenCaptureService.apk in system/app
A lot of custom roms do not have it.
/qsec
Hold Back key Then Press Home key
Isn't it the opposite?
Holding the Back Button, then pressing the Home button?
At least that's how it works on my SGS...
Edit: I was replying to OP
I have also been using this feature since JPY (or maybe earlier) but has anyone noticed some applications action the "back" while holding the back button, so you get a screenshot of the wrong screen! Pretty irritating.... for an example, try to take a screenshot while viewing an image in gallery application - you'll get a capture of the folder you came from and not the image you're looking at. Anyone know how to get around this? *shrugs*
Im using jvk and.. hold back button plus hit home button works great.. makes a cool camera noise and everything... thanks guys...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! No, seriously, WOW! Best built-in feature. Babai Shootme. You were great! :$
It is old thing...Was somebody put thread in our forum about it, some months ago...
Regards
^^Yep. Quite old.
For the people facing problems with the screens changing, try opening a menu in the screen you want a screenshot of. The menu will go back to the original screen and a screen shot will be taken.

hey, another bruneian on xda!
flash news: It's something known since froyo appeared
Sadly still doesn't work for me... when I'm in the app list an try to take scrrenshot it goes back to homescreen and takes screenshot of that. When I open a menu in the app list it stays there when I take screenshot... think I'll have to go and get an app for this..
Hi ,
Any news regarding the home button lag ?
I don't mean the wake up lag, which is annoying too but it's hardware issue.
I mean the home button lag, which means any program I running, and pressing the home button, it takes something like 1-2 seconds to return to home screen !!
I know this issue has been raised 1000 times (!!!) and that is the exact reason I am talking about this, it's annoying so many people, so how could it happen that it hasn't been resolved yet ?!
This is 100% software issue , CM7 for example doesn't have that. But I don't want to use CM7 ....
I also have it and it drives me crazy.
Disable voice2go and the other parts of the samsung TTS thing, use titanium backup or something, you will need to be rooted.
As when you press the home button it is waiting to see if you are going to double press it to activate the voice control.

Did that, it doesn't help mate.
Oliwe has figured out a solution that requires some dev expertise:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227479&highlight=home+lag
I tried it myself and failed, but I'm sure ROM cookers will start implementing this ASAP.
Still a non issue
