Change the Alarm Ringtone - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

How can I change the alarm ringtone?

Tap Start, Settings, System, Clock, Alarms,
Tap on the bell.
You can change the alarm sound by choosing any wav file in the Windows folder. If none of the sounds are suitable for you, then you can copy your own WAV file to the windows folder and use that.

Thank you very much.

Changing Alarm tones for XDAII

Hi all
Juz would like to check if anyone can advise me if the phone tones can be use as alarm tones? I remembered XDA allows me to use phone tones as alarm tones.
Sure. But you have to use File Explorer to copy the ring tones from "\Windows\Rings" to "\Windows".
Tried... But still can't get the ring tone into the alarm tone list... Is there anything else that I need to do??
If the audio file is a compressed WAV file, it won't show up in the list of sounds. You should use only uncompressed WAV files.
How to differential between compressed and uncompressed wav files? The icon shown in the windows explorer looks the same as the rest of the alarm tone.
right click on the file on the pc and choose properties
choose summary
audio format should be pcm
Checked... It's a Midi file... So no way to use it as a alarm tone?

WAV or MP3

Hi, how to use wav or mp3 files as ringtone or message alert tone? My device is X01HT.
Have a nice day.

For notification audio, put the audio files into the \Windows\ folder (via ActiveSync or from the memory card via File Explorer). Ringtones need to go into \Windows\Rings.
Once the files are there you can just choose them from the dropdown lists in Sounds and Notifications.
I tried that and it did not work. I then looked at the properties of one of the built in alarm wavs. I converted my wav to the same bitrate, mono, 22hz and then it worked.

I would also like to know a good freeware to make ringtones on my xp pc for the ppc? is it mp3cutter?
And what format (ie. wav) & bitrate is recommended for ringtones?
I guess I cheat a lil...
I go to the website and listen to the ring-tines using Internet Explorer. I then go to my Temporary Internet Folder, pull out the MP3 files that I liked.

How to change tone for incomming messages and alarm clock?

I'm sure this is covered somewhere so maybe you can point me in the right direction. I don't have a manual for my phone, and I can download one from the O2 website as the previous owner already registered with my IMEI number so I can't get access.
I'm trying to change the tone for incoming messages and the alarm clock - I can see where to change them, but there's only the factory included tones, is there any way to put one of my personal tones in?
Just paste the file to the Windows Folder. My Device > Windows. Then go back to Sounds and Notifications and the file will be included on the list.
*I can email you the manual. Just PM me here. ^^ *
Works perfectly, cheers!
Haha! That's good...
I tried pasted a song in wma file (3.5Mb) in Windows but still couldn't find it in my phone setting or notifications setting.

Sir, are u sure that you pasted the .wma on the Windows folder?
I haven't tried the .wma file.
I use .wav / .mp3 format only. Try using .wav or .mp3 format sir.
I'll try to paste a .wma file on my Windows folder and get back to you ASAP.
i though only .wav format acceptable to use for incoming message and alarm

AFAIK, message & alarm tone can only use *.wav file.
While *.mp3 & *.wma can be used for incoming call tone.
Or did I miss something here?

More Alarm Sound

You have any idea how i can add more alarm tones?if i use this way start, settings, sound&notifications, notifications , event but i cant found alarm icons. If you now let me now please.Thank you Dan
You can transfer .wav or mp3 sound file on to your phone or storage card. Using the File Explorer, navigate to these sound files. Just point to them until the options menu appears. One of the selections is," Set a Ringtone".
Now the sound clip will be in the notification sound list!!

Alarm tone
Set ring tones is not alarm tones.I can add more,ring,sms,mms.....tones but not alarm tones. With this phone coming couple alarm tones but i try add couple more and i don t have idea how?
oops...
For theClock alarm, it will only accept .wav files in the window directory!!
You might want to look at the other alarm clock appts out there!!

[Q] Alarm Files Separation From Ringtones?

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to separate out Alarm sound files from Ringtones.
I've set up a Media folder on the phone and within that folder set an Alarm, Ringtone and Notifications folder and I've placed the appropriate files within each directory.
HOWEVER,
When going to choose my alarm sound when setting the alarm, the phone lists all standard alarm files(stock sounds in the root folder), PLUS all the Ringtone files as well.
So if I place an alarm sound file in the 'Alarms' folder that I created, the phone doesn't care and also includes all the files from the Ringtones folder as well, which I don't want because I have MANY Ringtones but only about 10 Alarm sound files.
Shouldn't the phone's ALARM Function only choose sound files from the 'Alarm' folders? (whether Stock folder and or user created folder)?
Is there a way to coax the phone into operating logically when it comes to segregation of Alarm sound files (without root)?
