Upgrade to PPC 2003 - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I tried to upgrade to 2003 last night but the installation told me that it was the wrong upgrade for my phone and to dl thge correct one... any ideas?

Using sd card to flash the rom overcomes this problem and in my opinion is the preferred method.

SD card flash
Thanks for that - I'll give that a go!

RUU.. upgrade does not complete

Hi,
This is the first time I try to upgrade my Qtek  . I downloaded the RUU3.16.52.exe and RSU3.23.01.exe .
But I run the RSU3.23.01.exe (by mistake ) which completed successfully. When I run the RUU3.16.52.exe it continues until the last step where it say connecting to device and then exists and nothing happens on Qtek nor on the PC.
Any help appreciated.

I have a stupid idea if the flash utility doesn't work for your machine.
You need a SD card and SD card reader, and the XDArite.exe (XDA rom image tool) , extract the rom files from the ruu3.16.52.exe (nk.nbf) and write it to the card.
Then insert your SD card to the Qtek and enter the Bootloader, flash the rom , everything will be ok.

Advice on upgrading to WM2003

I'm thinking of upgrading my o2 XDA to WM2003, it is currently unlocked and I am using the Orange network (UK)
My current Radio Version is : 4.21.00, with 3.17.03 ROM.
Is it possible to just upgrade the ROM and not the radio stack?
If I do this am I definatley still going to be able to make phone calls once upgraded?
I have NO SD Card at present, but am I right in thinking there is a method of upgrading without an SD card?
And one last thing, if it all goes t1ts up I assume I would be able to downgrade back to my current rom.
Many Thanks
You can upgrade without the sd card. Just download from jeffs kitchen the .exe and it will upgrade while synched to the pc, it will not affect your radio stack. I would suggest getting an sd card, I backed up my original rom to sd and it has got me out of problems. Scan the rom upgrade pages for all the advice you will ever need on the subject.

OK but how can i reflash my SX56 with SD cadr if I don't have any back up ?
plus everybody has bootloader 5.17 or older but my is 5.22 :-(
Hello,
you have 2 options both use SD card:
1. get ROM backup from any other working XDA.
2. get SD card reader/writer. change the extention of the ROM file you cooked to .zip and use winzip to extract a file named NK.nbf under \english directory. use the SD writer to copy this file to the SD card.
in both cases, insert the SD card into your XDA and use the bootloader.
good luck ...
similar problem last year
Hiya Mike2001,
I had a similar problem last year. I found that while the ActiveSync monitor shows no connectivity you will still be able to transfer an OS image. One hiccup I did find, and I am running wallaby 5.17 by the way, is a version conflict with the proposed rom and existing header information. This is a windows registry problem on your PC caused by the crash which needs to be deleted prior to attempting the upgrade.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,

program a

nobody have found a work around the program A problem when upgrading to wm2003 ver 4.16?
What's the program A problem?
the program used for upgrade done through active sync, usually when you upgrade to version 4.11 or 4.16 you'll never be able to upgrade though an RUU instead you'll upgrade through an SD storage card
are you talking about radiostack here ?
no am talking about the rom upgrade software
I think you've identified the workaround - you use an SD card instead of the installer program when the installer program won't work.
I think the SD card method has lesschance of going wrong.
I just read a post where someone's PC rebooted in the middle of his upgrade using the installer. He's hosed. The SD card eliminates this risk.
I upgraded/downgraded my XDA1 about 40 times. I did it twice using programme A method (both official O2 upgrades) and every other time via SD card. I managed to hose the XDA when my PC crashed during activesync upgrade - that's when I swapped to SD card method and never had another problem. At one point I was changing the rom several times a day to try different installed apps.

Problem with ROM Kitchen

I have been trying to cook a ROM for my XDA 1 using Pocket PC 2002 o2 3.17.03 and a few other programmes. I end up with about 250K vacant in my Rom.
When I burn and download it I download a file of about 15.8MB named rom but whenever I try to execute it nothing happens.
I have previously SER 1.2 installed. I have active synch up and running as well but as soon as I double click a black window appears for a few seconds and disappears.
Could you tell me what is the problem. I have noticed that such behaviour doesnt exist when I try Win mobile 2003.
FYI i am using a Windows XP machine to access internet with 256MB RAM.
make the rom as nbf or nb1 and not exe is my advice
here is a guide as to how you get it to the xda after that

sd way is much more safe
Will I need a card reader?
Hi,
I dont have a card reader with me. Do proceed by the suggested method would I need a card reader or anyother hardware other than my SD card (which by the way is a 64MB MMC card)
Will the existing information in the card be deleted? Would I need to backup that Info?
Regards,
download XDAtools.exe from here and you can use your XDA as a card reader/writer ... I 'm not sure the MMC can be used instead of SD
