Hands free call buttons not working - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Anyone have the problem of your end call and start call buttons just all of a sudden not working on their XDAII? About a week ago it started where I can't end a call by pressing the end button on my handsfree cord.. any help?

There is a service "handsfree.exe" which loads in the startup,, try to check if it automatically loads with the system. I donno if this could be the reason, but from its name, seems its responsible for the accepting handsfree actions.

yah I looked in the startup menu and I don't see handsfree.exe anywhere... is there a place I can find it and put it into the startup?

its located in the WINDOWS directory. Just create a shortcut to it & place it in WINDOWS\Start Up
If this file is missing at all, try to extract it from the ROM you're currently using..

any help on extracting that from the ROM to put it in the startup menu? Not really sure how to do it.

Start menu items

In the start menu are several links to programs. I am trying to determine if some of them are needed in start menu?
aflashman.lnk
cflashman.lnk
Are these programs to permanently write contacts to/from rom?
If so do we need this in startmenu or could we do this from the program directly when needed?
Handsfree.lnk
Does tis have something to do with using a car kit?
If so do we need this in startmenu or is it only needed there if we install the car kit?
Yes these are to flash to ROM at cold boot(softreset).
a for agenda flashes your calander.
c for contact flashes your contacts.
If you uncheck this option under settings perm save they will no longer be in your startup folder. Likewise deleting them from the folder is same as unchecking them. They need to be in this folder if you want this info flashed to ROM for safe keeping.
Handsfree link simple runs the program that lets you use speaker phone on the device while a call is in progress pressing and holding the green phone key will switch your phone to speaker phone mode, but you probably already knew this
Hope this answers your questions.

That is very helpful info. Thank you. Since I don't really flash contacts/calender to ROM (keep them on SD card), I guess I could uncheck aflashman.lnk & cflashman.lnk option and just re-check if I decided to use them?
As for Handsfree.lnk, I didn't know this was for speakerphone. Is there a way to set speakerphone to always be on when I am in the car, so that every call I make or receive will be on speakerphone?

How about ChgDfLnk.lnk.
What is this and do I need it in startup?

Click to collapse
Just to be correct: handsfree.lnk is not for using, but for giving visual notification that handsfree is ON.
Holding green button during conversation works without this program. So you may delete it
As for "speakerphone is always on" No, you may not turn it on "forever".
There is a trick though and you may find it here:

the buttons for "Softbuttons" don't work after awhile

I have a Orange SPV M3100 (tytn)
just got it 2nd hand. it works nicely, but everytime after a few hours of not using it. when i try to use it again, the 2 buttons that's suppose to press the softbuttons don't work.
To get them working again, i have to reset my thing.
The softbuttons themselves still work. I can click on the 2 things and my file explorer / contacts show up. But the physical buttons that's suppose to press those 2 things don't for some reason.
Any ideas?
Softkeys not working
I've had similar issues. It has happened a few times actually. Now when I install a new rom I place short cuts in my window\startmenu\ accessories or system files folder depending on the application i try to shortcut. Just locate the actual exe file for the program copy it and go to the windows folder you want it in and hold stylus and hold and paste short cut then rename as you wish. it wll now show up in your programs folders on you menus. or use advance configurations 1.0 from Shaps it works very well. There is also a softkey app in the forum that works well also.

The real fix for MS Voice Command and Wm6 rom

So I worked with others on this and have successfully come up with a solution to this problem.
Step one is to download the attached file and extract the files to your SD card.
Step 2 is to run your msvc1.6 .cab install.
After reboot run we run the extracted .cab files.
First run the Voice Command Apache Fix . cab install
then go into your button setup in control panel and set button 1 to start menu and the first button 5 to none.
Next run the LennySH VoiceCommand WM6 Fix .cab install
now soft reset.
Next you need to run the IDTransferV1[1].cab
After install it may ask you to soft reset... this is fine.
Almost there.
Now go into file explorer and find the IDtransfer icon in windows/startmenu/programs
copy that file and go to windows/startup and paste the program in there.
Soft reset one more time.
Now when your phone reboots it is almost ready.
You will have IDTransfer come up and u need to check Enable and click on hide. If you ever soft reset you will have to repeat this process to keep IDTransfer running in the background.
Now to go your control panel and click on phone and set your ring type to ring and ringtone silent.
next we go to the control panel again and select voice command.
under voice command select phone and options.
check Announce incoming calls
click ok to save and again ok to save
close out of the control panel
soft reset
when IDTransfter comes up select enable and click ok.
Now go into your BT pairing and remove your existing BT device and then re-add it.
After that you should be in working order and the voice dial and call announce works fine.
What exactly does this fix?
When you say fixed, what exactly are you fixing? What is broken in my view is that when I place a call by bluetooth, the "voice in my head" (AKA my bluetooth earpiece) repeats my request back, it might even ask for more details, (i.e. "work", "home", "mobile" etc.) and I say "Yes" at which point the earpiece goes deaf. And when it can't hear my response it shuts off. Are you saying this fix, fixs this?
finally you got it working
thank you so much it only took me 4 hours to find this
but everything works like it should
Voice Command Fix
I tried this and followed directions exactly, but when I got to the following step "Settings" freezes and I'm not able to configure Voice Command causing me to have to soft reset and am not able to complete the steps.
"next we go to the control panel again and select voice command.
under voice command select phone and options.
check Announce incoming calls
click ok to save and again ok to save
close out of the control panel"

remap volume button to scroll-"wheel"

hey!
1st: thanks a lot for working on this device so hard...
2nd; thanks for sharing ALL the information it helped a lot!
here is the question:
is there a registry-tweak or something like a program to change the behavior of the "up-down-button" which controls the volume?!
because its rediculous that these important buttons look like not remapable...
thanks for reading and thinking about it!

Smartskey
Try this. It's an old application called Smartskey that no one seems to mention anymore. But it allows you to map the volume slider to be a page up/page down scroller. When on the home screen and on a call, it'll still adjust the volume, but on other screens (Internet Explorer, File Explorer, Program list, etc), it will scroll the screen one page at a time.
You can map other things too, but I only use it for the volume slider. The ini file attached is set up to this. If you want to play with the settings, the instructions are included also. Just extract the files and copy to a folder in your program files directory and run the exe file to load it. Once loaded, it will stay running even after a reset. To unload the program, run the file again.
GREAT!
lovin it!
you were a BIG help!

Missing Icons and Folders? Please Help

Okay guys more help please!
I can't recall if I saw these things pre or post upgrade from 1.48 to 1.66 rom
BUT:
1) when I pressed the windows button there used to be a folder there called games which is no longer there. I can find it via file explorer in start menu/programs (and it contains links to a couple of games I installed) but I would like it back in the main screen to be able to click on
2) there used to be an icon for bluetooth. I think it used to be in the tools folder but again I can't find it anywhere now, not even via file explorer in start menu as above. I can turn on BT via the setting switch but
a) I would like to get back icons that there there before!
b) I would like to explore what configurable options are available
sorry just to update.
I remembered now where the BT icon is/was - setting/all settings!
Still would like the Games Folder on the main screen (ie when you press the windows button and/or even better a quicklink) though!
Ignore me - I'm dim!
Found it. It is still there but the icon is different [or possibly I remember it differently!]
I have added a shortcut to the BT Manager to the startup menu so I have an icon there now as well
