Just a heads up for folks, I just finished a conversation with T-Mobile support basically informing me that the acknowledged the problem, but would not be working to resolve it. If you have a Pocket PC Phone Edition and apply the T-Mobile 2003 upgrade to it, your Server Activesync may cease to work. So far I have only reproduced the problem when connecting to a server running Windows server 2000 and Exchange 2003, it does not appear to reproduce when connecting to a server running Windows server 2003 and Exchange 2003. To make it all even better, the problem does not occur with an IPAQ over a GPRS link or if you have the AT&T 2003 rom loaded. I have a Premier ticket open with Microsoft on this, but they appear to be making little if any progress towards getting it resolved. So... If you have a problem with getting the DEV_10 error when performing a Server ActiveSync over GPRS with the T-Mobile 2003 ROM, don't count on any support from T-Mobile.

HELP !
I used to access my work server with my XDA2 - Connect GPRS, VPN, Terninal Services hey presto. With my Qtek 9090 (WM2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)), I set up the connections and it will connect ONCE only to my server. If I try again it times out. I have tried with other Qtek 9090's and exactly the same thing happens - connects first time and then won't ever again. Anyone had a similar experience or even better anyone got an answer?
Terminal Services Client
Found a solution to my problem (post 13th March 2005) regarding only being able to connect once to work server through VPN and TSC. It seems there's a bug in WM 2003 which prevents subsequent connections. Anyway, the fix is here if anyone is interested. Whilst it says it's for HP only it worked on my Qtek 9090 and all is OK.

Apologies it's here. http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/download/20534.html
Hope some one can help with this - I am sure I've seen posts on the subject but can't seem to find them
Set up a PPTP VPN connection to use the wifi connection, all advanced setting set to enable this (same settings work on and ipaq with 2003se)
what happens is the xda connects to the vpn server receives an ip address and then drops
the logging on the server shows no errors
I have spoken to O2 who recognised this as a known issue but had no timescale for a fix/workaround
I have tried different radio versions and different OEM's roms to no avail
I suspect either the hardware or the WiFi driver but I'm no expert on pocket pc stuff
Would be grateful for a share of thoughts or even fixes on this subject
as this was the primary reason I bought six of them
Have tried latest o2 rom - issued by o2 today
doesn't fix the wifi/vpn problem and doesn't upgrade the radio either
another half hearted effort by o2
I realise that this is no consolation but I have also had this problem trying to connect the WM3 VPN client. You seemed to have got a bit further by getting an IP addr from your VPN server. Another point to note is that if you try to connect to your VPN server via GSM (instead of WiFi),
the connection session goes a little further (if you check thru the server logs) but again, in my case, it ends up with a "VPN server problem, check your username and password...".
Our VPN server happens to be a PIX firewall, can I ask which VPN server are you using ? :x
VPN
We are using a simple Windows server VPN PPTP for the purposes of testing - it works fine over GPRS just not wifi
I have had an email from O2 confirming that they are aware of the problem - but the last rom update is the last one they are going to issue
and they have no plans to fix the problem
I will be taking this further with O2 and will let you know the result
in this forum - but I don't hold out much hope
I have a Blackberry on O2 that accesses our corporate BES but I wondered if I could get it on my Tytn if I moved the SIM and installed the desktop and PPC software. I did and eveything looked good, was getting mail but found the Services 'Blackberry [CMIME] is marked as disallowed and although I can receive email, I can't send. Anyone know if the are connected?
Also the Blackberry service does not start when I reset the Tytn, saying I have no connection so I have to manually start a GPRS connection and continually keep trying to re-connect, eventually it does but it would be great if the service could start automatically on reset with active connection. Does anyone know if there's specific settings I should be using for my setup? I'm using the desktop and ppc blackberry connect software found on the hermes FTP area.
Thanks in advance.!
POPSSIBLE i think, search for the subject in the TyTN upgrades forum section i think i saw a thread a few weeks ago on this...your SIM must have blackberry access so you should be ok?!
I'm almost there, I had to recreate my BES account so my service books come down fine and I can send email. The only problem I have now is that if I restart the tytn, the Blackberry service won't connect, I get either a message thats says 'NOT CONNECTED' or 'STOPPED'. Nothing else has changed and I have an active O2 GPRS connection on a Blackberry enabled SIM. Anyone else had this problem getting the Blackberry service to connect?
I just got issued a Cingular Berry at work. We use a BES server with Exchange. Any way I can use my 8525 (unlocked) instead of my BB.
I've read mixed results and methods on forums/sites. I'd just like a direct answer and a how-to would be even better.
You'll find TONS of information on that particular issue here..
Either get the blackberry connect service from Cingular and use your 8525 with the black berry client on it... or.... use the company's exchange server with activesync. If you're lucky and they have exchange 2003 with SP2 you will even get direct push email, just like a berry.
Here's my setup:
1) Cingular 8525 SIM/CID unlocked (HardSPL 7)
2) Elf's 2.1 Crackberry ROM (WM6) - very nice stable build.
3) BBConnect 4.0.0.67 CAB
4) Cingular Blackberry Tethered Unlimited (both BIS and BES enabled)
Make sure you have a data connection working first.
BBConnect will issue you PIN after you click the Register button - you can see this in the BB Connect utility on your handheld.
You can then use this PIN and your phone IMEI on Cingular's BB site:
http://mycingular.blackberry.com/
Don't forget to download the Service books.
If your company has Outlook Web access for Exchange Server you can avoid BES.
BBConnect only allows 3 email boxes on a non-BB device.
Everything works fine except that the BB Service hogs the wireless connection so that I sometimes have problems with other services require internet connection.
Toss that Cingular ROM (even the latest 2.15 update) - it's worthless and a real headache - very unstable
I've been using ActiveSync for my iMate Jam for the past 2 years through the USB connection on my laptop.
Last week I signed up for a 3G broadband connection with MTN (South African company) and got a [email protected] E220 HSDPA modem which also connects through USB port.
Since installing it there seems to be something blocking ActiveSync through the USB as although ActiveSync does 'Connect', it can't synchronize. (Syncronise is lowlighted)
Uninstalling [email protected] fixes the problem, so it definately is something in that software conflicting with ActiveSync. Obviously uninstalling is not a workable solution as my broadband won't work, and I need it.
I've downloaded and installed the latest ActiveSync and [email protected] applications, but it made no difference.
My PC is a Dell Inspiron 640m running XP SP2 and my PPC is a iMate Jam running Windows Mobile 2003SE. I know ActiveSync uses port 990.
I've searched the www for a solution without success. Tried calling MTN support, but their techies were busy and not available..."
Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can fix this - Please.

Alternatively, if someone can point me at a website where I can find out how to set up synchronisation using BlueTooth between my Dell (Windows XP SP2) and iMate Jam (Windows Mobile 2003SE) I'd be very happy. I can only find sites that refer to other combinations and I'm unable to get it right.
Thanks
