My XDA2 was originally O2 german ROM. i upgraded to Tmobile NL 1.6 to switch to english version. Can i now switch to new O2 UK ROM? Can this upgrade be done using USB craddle?
Yes, I have done that, now I have the last o2 version in English, and works good.
You can find from MKIA the file for change the country ID in the forum.

Having an O2 with a German ROM and wanting to install an English ROM, i contacted O2 UK asking if it was possible to install a UK ROM instead of a German One and this is the reply of O2 UK support:
"It is not possible to use a UK ROM on a German device - this is because O2 DE has a product called Homezone, which requires additional tweaks to the radio-stack to work correctly. The radio-stack is tweaked for each country, as are the ROM files. If this German device is flashed with a UK ROM it will break and then not work at all."
Knowing this, would the installation of an english ROM as you guys r suggesting hurt the device because of the Home Zone thing?
Can't we just use a generic English Rom from microsoft that would not hurt the device?
i am currently using the device oustside Europe, so i do not really need O2 carrier services.

İ am a mda2 user. İve bought my device from Germany and after that i changed its ROM to an english one using a rom editor to change its country id .. This encouredged a close friend of mine and he bought a O2 XDA2i. And since both me and my friend have no idea about German language we immediately tried to convert it to an english ROM. All of the ROMS we tried stopped giving country id error messages so idiotically i tried to flash a himalaya rom merged by sin which can pass Counrty id problem by itself.
And using this wrong ROM i killed his machine. It now only displays serial or usb (when connected to cradle). Someone told us that if we flash it with a original German ROM it can work again. But there is no German ROM downloadable . O2 england has a rom downloadable for xda2i but germany doesnt have. where can i find one?

See the universal upgrading forum. Flash it with an english language rom. Note: this will lose you your warranty if they make an issue out of it, although you can reflash with a german rom if necessary and if that bit still functions. You could go for the Tmobile UK rom or the Qtek one. The Qtek rom is newer and supports AKU2 (Service pack one, as it were, including push email and stereo-bluetooth), but has even less similarity to your Tmob DE rom. In both cases the MMS and internet settings will probably not be correct.
I've vodafone v1640 and i want upgrade the firmware, but vodafone don't release a new version of fw.
i think that the fw of qtek 9000 is the same of my pocketpc.....right?

Is there any German ROM available?-I put WM 6 in WWE on my German T-mobile compact III and it is working...but it would be god to have a german too.
1) Can someone download the Update from the Gemran- O2 site and upload it here? I can`t because you need a serial- number of a O2 device.
2) How to change the Language file in a WM6 operating system? is this possible?
My English is poor so maybe this theme is handled here in the Forum, but i didn´t found it.
