Back Up - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

I've been using XDA II since Dec '03 and I like this device, but I am having problem with backing up my programs installed and data (contacts, calendar, etc)
Is there a way to backup all of installed programs and data to my hard disk.
I tried using Xbackup to my SD card but failed.
Does anybody know how to backup it all to hard disk (notebook) so when we have to hard rest (pressing the on/off button together with the reset button) we can restore the programs and data from the hard disk.
Thanks in advance.
Eddy

Use ActiveSync to back up to harddisk. Just put the XDA in the cradle and wait for the sync to complete. You then have access to the backup menu item.
For a more effective Pocket PC application, take a look at Sprite Backup:
www.spritesoftware.com/downloads/SpriteBackup23PreRelease.zip
This program can create an .exe file on your SD card, containing all settings, programs and data.

Backup Progs

Whic back up for WM5, can make a backup in the pc? If I am not mistaken Sprite and Spb back up only on the SD card.
Thanks
Sprite can back up to the PC as well. And Spb may not directly back up to the PC (not sure), but there's nothing stopping you from copying the file afterwards?
ZeBoxx,
Have you become my personal tech support? heehee
In the end you will start asking for money
Thanks man
Yes I can copy, but I would prefer to avoid copying, since I am a backup freak, and I almost backup everyday. I did not see that option in Sprite, will look closer, thanks again

I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager which backs up to either main memory or SD card, and also includes a PC backup utility which if I'm right can restore a backup to your phone over Activsync.
You have to copy the backup on the phone to the PC first, though.

Hope this helps.

With Sprite, at least the beta I've got, you actually run an app on your desktop. It will remotely reset the PPC (the PPC will prompt you about it), perform the backup to the desktop, and I think resets again. Haven't run it in a while

Backup contacts to SD card before hard reset?

Anyway I can easily copy my contacts to my SD card before i hard reset so I can copy them back afterwards???
You mean OTHER than using ActiveSync and Outlook????
Technically Jeyo Mobile Companion 1.1 can do it, though when performing my text backups I've always found that the Contact feature causes problems.
Pocket Informant or ContactBreeze probably has those functions, also.
Cheers

Just copy the pim.vol file at the root of your file system to SD. Use the internal file explorer to do this. Do not use resco.
To restore, rename the pim.vol pim.old before copying the old file to the root. Soft reset after this. Don't use any other program than internal file explorer or it won't work.
thaihugo, thanks that was the answer I was looking for

Problem with me (and perhaps many other) is that i chagne from on rom to other rom every day. im tired of backing up and restoring contacts from SD card. so i am instrested in a software that can save contact to SD card and search and load a contact from sd card again directly.(it my dream it may not be possible). but i hope at least someone may come up with a solution.
wow a reply after 6 years . as far as i can remember the good old WM times, DotNetFreds PIM Backup was the! solution for backup&restore questions.

Storage Card Backup?

I have a Wizard (Cingular 8125) and use SPB Backup, but I want to back up the Storage Card to my desktop. I'd also like to back up the Wizard on my desktop.
I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out. Is this possible? I have Total Commander which I can use to copy it over, but that doesn't let me do it either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
May you should try a different software for backups.. My favourite is Sprite BackUp (http://www.spritesoftware.com/)..
Another possibility to backup your SD-Card is to use a cardreader..
Have you tried to copy your SD-Card using the explorer?

WM still does not see the drive

Hi
My HTC X7500 has stopped being able to access the hard drive. I carried out a hard reset several times,
but WM5 still does not see the drive. I have also reformatted the hard disk during a hard reset. The
system did not report that it was not able to do the reformat. However, the disk still was not accessible/
visible after a reboot.
I read on the Internet that there is a program called Mini SD. Has anyone tried or have this program for
diagnostics?
Or does anyone have any recommendations about this problem with the microdrive?
Much obliged for any replies or suggestions.
Restore Microdrive
My microdrive was restored in WM6 by running Start->System->Format MiroDrive and selecting "Restore" from the dropdown.
My Microdrive disappeared from the File Explorer as well as ActiveSync, (perhaps not coincidently after using MissingSync on the Mac to backup my Microdrive contents.)
The Settings->System->Format Microdrive "Restore" option revived it, though I did have a moment of panic after the restart when the dialog "Erase memory card?" prompt threw me off (they really meant "Erase Microdrive").
Now I've restored from my backup; hope it was a s/w anomaly and not failing Microdrive hardware...

How to transfer data after you switch your hd2 to Android?

Hi there,
I just upgrade my hd2 to Android (Mdeejay_eVo_sense), may i know how to use PIM Backup to restore all of my contacts, SMS, etc since i already switch to android? I haven't seen much information on PIM for Android so I was wondering if anyone else had other suggestions? Anyone have any experiences with them? The PIMbackup file is still in my SD card. How to retrieve and put in the Android?
I cant seem to connect to my laptop after install Android? Any idea?
Appreciate your help. Thanks a bunch!
What file type is you Pim backup? You can load some contact files straight into gmail using your browser, as for pc connection you need to activate it in android
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
sync with gmail account then when you're on android, it will load all your contacts and agenda
Funambol is good for contacts. Haven't used it in a minute tho. Not sure of any new features. There is a winmo version and and android one, making the tranfer fairly painless
Try this: it's the method to convert pim backup files (pib) into some files android can read BUT you have to replace Step 4 with the following:
4. Put the csv file on the root of your SD Card.
5. When on Android (AOSP/Cyanogenmod builds) Home screen, press the phone icon, then go to the contacts tab, press the windows key (acting as the menu key), then select import contacts, import from sd card, and wait until it finds the csv file, then select it and wait (better plug your phone to the charger, it can take up to 10 minutes depending on how many small files you have on your SD card), et voila.
Done
p.s: it looks a lot like this, but it takes you 3 to 4 minutes to be to step 5.
f.
edit: you don't need to sync with Gmail if, just like me, you don't want Google to have a copy of all your contacts.
Thanks guys for the tips! Truly appreciate it!
I'm now using forelli's method, i followed the step till the 5th step. However, when i press "Import from SD Card", it shows that "Scanning Sd card failed (Reason" No vCard file found on the SD card)?? But i already inserted csv in SD card. any idea??
