Is it available on this Orange model?
I'm using the Orange version of the XDA II (SPV M1000) on my UK Vodafone Sim Card
Can anyone help?
Thanks

The Orange SPV M1000 does not have a MMS composer so I had to run the installer I found elswhere on this forum to do this.
Once done I could complete the set up and also use the internet explorer.
Installing the MMS program allowed me access to the setting for WAP aswell as MMS. So I could now adapt it for any network.

Gents, I was on the verge of stomping my XDA2 when I found your thread. It Works!!! many many thanks!!!

me too! I've had my xda for 2 days now and thanks to your threads I've upgraded to WM2003 SE - created my own Extended Rom selection - and got MMS working ! Thanks Everyone involved!

it's nearly to do with Vodafone GPRS/MMS....

Hi all, sorry to bother you with this one!
I got my O2 XDAII unlocked and used it with no drama at all with my Vodafone SIM. I then put the GPRS settings in and it worked fine with MSN Messenger and IE etc. I then put the MMS settings in and started sending and receiving picture messages perfectly.
The problem, i hear you ask....
Well, I got TomTom 3 and a program called POI Warner which is used to alert me of POI's (read, speed cameras  ) and it wanted to connect to the Internet to update it's database. It always used to try once i'd dropped the XDA in the cradle. As something wasn't right somewhere, it used to lock up the XDA until it gave up trying and then it would release the XDA so that i could use it again. This all seemed to be because of the Activesync passthrough settings. :?
I set them as I should have (after reading on here what to do - thanks!) and then it worked fine. Still with me...??????
It seems that i can't send picture message anymore
I have all the settings from the other posts on here but somehow, my settings in the connections screen have gone loopy.
Can someone on Vodafone PLEASE PLEASE let me know what settings they have in the connections screen, be it two sets (My Work Settings and another) or (Vodafone GPRS and Vodafone MMS - as i used to have). And when you click the advanced tab at the bottom of the connection screens, which programs do you have for 'Programs that connect to the internet should use' and programs that connect to a private network should use'???
when you edit either of these, it comes up with ANOTHER connection screen - what you have got in there??
This is on top of the Server mentioned in the MMS composer screen that needs another mention of the same server in there!!!
If I can get this working with someone's help , I hereby promise to take a screenshot of every screen I have and put an idiots guide to getting this working up on the Web should I need it again!!
thanks in advance Guys!!
Firstly to clean things up a bit it'd look in the registry under [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Destinations] and remove all but:
'The Internet'
'Work'
'My Work Network' - or whatever it was renamed to
'My ISP' - or whatever it was renamed to
Then resetup all the connections.....
Here are the settings I have, which work perfectly.
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:
Vodafone Internet (My ISP renamed)
Programs that automatically connect to a private network should connect using:
Vodafone Live! (My Work Network renamed)
Settings:

Under modem...
Name: Vodafone Live! GPRS
modem type: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
User name: wap

No extra settings under advanced
Under Proxy Settings...
Both boxes ticked.
Under Advanced...

Gateway: 212.183.137.12

& I put my sending size as 100K - but its your choice.

XDA 2 in need of GPRS & WAP & MMS settings for VodaF

Hi guys,
I'm giving my sister my old XDA 2 for Christmas (finally have the very slow XDA exec!) I've unlocked it and have a Vodafone PAYG sim card installed - running fine. I just need the connection settings so I can enable it to go online and send Media messages. Any one have a clue? It would mean so much to me - and I'll make a donation to the site if any tips work on my old phone.
cheers

Voda settings
To set up Internet access on the device:
1. Click on START.
2. Click on Settings.
3. Click on Connections at bottom of screen.
4. Click on Connections icon at top right of screen.
5. Under ISP click on Add a new modem connection.
6. Enter a name for the connection (e.g. Internet).
7. Under Select a modem, choose Cellular line (GPRS).
8. Click Next.
9. Under Access point name type internet (note: this is case sensitive).
10. Click Next.
11. Under User name type web (note: this is case sensitive).
12. Under Password type web (note: this is case sensitive).
13. Click Finish.
14. The QTEK is now configured to use Vodafone GPRS.
Double check that the device is using this modem connection as its default connection by going into ‘Manage existing connections’ (Start, Settings, Connections, Connections), and ensuring that the black bullet point is next to the account that you have just created.
Setting up MMS:
Go to the messages section (Start, Messaging) and browse to the MMS inbox (using the drop down box labelled inbox in the left hand corner of the screen).
Select Menu (bottom right of screen) and select MMS Configuration.
The device should already have an account present and on the first screen the tick boxes that are checked are for your own personal choice (the ones on this device have ‘retrieve messages immediately’, ‘download on home network only’, and ‘save sent messages’ ticked.
On the Servers tab you should have a ‘Contract MMS’ account already created. If this is the case you’ll need to select the account and choose ‘Set as Default’.
If you do not have this account already created you should choose ‘New’ and enter the following details:
Server name: Vodafone MMSC
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port Number: 9201
Server Address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Connect via: The WAP Network
Sending Size limitation: 100k (recommended – but you may change this if you wish)
WAP Version: WAP 1.2
By the way.....
If the GPRS fails to connect first time you may need to click the antenna icon near the signal reception and 'turn on flight mode'. This will disable the phone recption. Then click again and 'turn off flight mode' to reactivate the phone reception. It should then connect ok (by going into Internet Explorer and trying to get to a web page of your choice).
Hi

I'm signed up to Vodafone MMS. It works on my Nokia 7610 but not the 9000.

Byron
Hy Byron 4127,
this is how you do it:
First go to Start < Settings > Connectios < Connections > Under the My Work Network select add a new Modem Connection
If you do not have already a connection made under this setting make a new connection or edit the one you already got make show they is only one connection under this menu or the MMS well not work.
Enter a Name for the connection: Vodafone MMS
Select a Modem: Celluar Line (GPRS, 3G)
Next
Access Point Name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
Next
User name: [email protected]
Password: user
Finish
Now go to you messaging service
When you are they select MMS Configuration under Menu
Preference set that page as you like.
Server page
If you have a server they already edit it by double tap on it if not make a new server in they put this settings:
Server Name: Vodafone UK
Gateway: 212.183.137.12
Port Number: 9201 that well get change to this when tou select the wap version at the bottom of the page to Wap 1.2
Server address: mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms
Connect via: select My Work Network
Sending size limitation: I have set to 250K but you can set it to want you like.
Tap ok and then make you that this is you default server tapping on Set as Default you well see a red arrow appear next to Vodafone UK.
Then close the MMS Configuration
After all this you well see it will work anymore problems let me known and I well try to help.

MMS on vodafone
Hi Gigino
Your settings cured the problem. Thanks very much. I've been struggling for 4 months with this.
Your settings were the same as mine except for the user name and password.
But changing them fixed it.
To add the icing to the cake, the first picture I received today was of my new grandaughter born last Thursday who I haven't seen yet.
Thanks again very much for your help.

MMS Vodafone UK with WM5

Help! - Has anyone else transferred their O2 xda Exec to Vodafone, or does anyone have a V1640 that they can check the settings for MMS with me?
I've changed over to voda, have loads of apps installed. Vodafone's business help line seem blissfully unaware of the extra settings inside the Messaging App on WM5 for MMS config.
Normal internet connectivity is ok, but at the moment I can't seem to download any new MMS messages. They arrive in the inbox and the size shows up, but I just can't download.
For the Connection details - Stangely, using the dedicated IP that the support team provided for the IP address of 212.183.137.012 doesnt work, when its on IP address is provided, it does try and access messages, but just can't download them.
Its got to a stage now, where they seem unwilling to help because its "not a handset they provide" despite me explaining that its the same mobile OS as dozens of other handsets and the settings will be exactly the same as on any WM5 based device.
The settings they can't seem to help with are those inside the messaging app on the menu "MMS Configuration" (see below)
----------------------------
Messaging > MMS > Menu >MMS Configuration
Preferences Tab:
Retrieve messages immediately (ticked)
Download on home network only (unticked)
Save sent messages (ticked)
Reject all messages (unticked)
Allow delivery report (unticked)
Allow read report (unticked)
Use signature with this account (unticked)

Server Address: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms

Can anyone help, its been several days now and its really annoying me!
Annoying, but here's how
Hi Derek,
I just got this working again after having the same problem as you. Here is my setup (based on WM6 on an O2 XDA Exec running on Vodafone) - and the trick you need to know is at the end:
Settings -> Connections, I created a new modem connection called "Vodafone MMS & Data" of type "Cellular line (GPRS, 3G)". Under this setting, I have created two connections, one called "3g data" and one called "3g Wap Connection".
"3g data" is set up with access point "internet", username "internet", and password (I think) also "internet"
"3g Wap connection" is set up with access point "wap.vodafone.co.uk", username "wap" and password "wap".
OK, so you have a connection with two options set up as a result of this. For 99% of your day-to-day browsing, you just leave the connection set to use "3g data" by default, but when you get the notification of an MMS message, disconnect any existing online session and then go in and select the "3g Wap connection" option, then tap-and-hold and select Connect. Once you're online with the Wap connection you can then go and download your MMS message.
Hope this helps,
Darren
Here's what to do
In Settings/Connections/Connections you should have one connection set up under My ISP for internet access:
Name: VF Web (or whatever)
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access point name: internet
user name: web
password: web
You should also have one connection set up under My Work Network:
Name: VF MMS (or whatever)
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
Access point name: wap.vodafone.co.uk
user name: wap
password: wap
Finally set up your MMS configuration to Connect via: My Work Network
That's how to link internet and MMS to the two separate connections.

Have you seen the date of the thread?
I´m sure he/she already solve it

I did indeed notice the date of the thread. However the advice given here was not the best solution. I was trying to set up MMS on my O2 Exec on a Vodafone sim for the first time a few days ago, and couldn't find a complete and proper solution anywhere. Thankfully I managed to work it out and posted it here in case it helps others. The Universal and WM5 are both still alive and kicking.
Thats ok mate, just joking
Thanks for your comment
