OK I feel really stupid with this one because generally I can figure this stuff out.. I just got a Socket SDIO card today and have been trying to connect to my wireless network at home; the network is not WEP enabled or anything, yet my XDA2 just keeps going through the channels and does not connect even though it sees the network as available.
I also only get grey signal bars, which from what I have read means it is adhoc but I don't believe I have it set for that anywhere...
basically I am completely lost and can't get this bloody thing working... so please any help!

Hi Guys
I got me a real pain in the arse. I just recently got a well cheap MDA 3 from T-Mobile (UK). "Great!" I thought. :-(
I cant get the fecking thing to see my Linksys 54g (supports 11) network.
OK. Here's the details. I have removed ALL security from my wifi network, im not happy about this but I figure I can get the rest of it to work AFTER the fact.
The Network Cards app sees my SSID system and says connected (yet my router does not show it as connected). I then go into Wireless LAN application and it just says "Scanning Network..... " and never finds my network :-(
Now, some extra bonus point questions:
1 - Is there a way to find the devices mac address (apart from the when it eventually connects to the router)
2 - Can i specify a SSID apart from the that LEAP thing (what is that and will my router support it)?
3 - Am i correct in assuming im connecting using the "Tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Modem"?
4 - is there a way to deleted unwanted "Wireless Networks" in the WLAN application?
Remember - this is trying to connect to a totaly unprotected network, it sees it but does not seem to connect in the WLAN application.
Many thanks for ANY help you may be able to give and have a great weekend!
Im having a the same problem
Can any one help?
Thanks
My Cingular 8125 randomly drops my wifi connection while connected to my home wireless network. Problem did not really seem to start until after I connected once at starbucks to tmobile hot spot.

Hi All, i'm not sure if this has been mentioned on this forum or if it is even possible, but is it possible to use the wizard's wifi capability's on the pc as a wifi network adapter? I would love it if I could connect my wizard, via usb, to my pc, and use it as a wifi adapter to connect to my router? Thanks!
Possible solution...
I think you can. If you have activesync installed, you can connect your ppc to your laptop/desktop and specify that you can use the desktop's internet connection ("This computer is connected to: Automatic/Work Network/The Internet"). If your laptop has a wifi connection to your router, then you're all set!
Hope this helps!

The thing is that I would like to use the wizard as my wifi connection for my laptop. My laptop does not have built in wireless, so instead of buying a wireless card for my laptop, I would like to use the wizard's built in wifi as a replacement, sorta like a wifi card for my laptop.
in theory it sounds like a good idea, and might even work-- i would like to know how to do this just in case i ever need it.
but in your case, you might want to look at mpci/cardbus wifi adapters, get a good mpci card if your laptop supports it.
i have a intel centrino branded card that came with my dell 600m, i noticed a couple pulls on ebay just like it last week for about $25?
and on the upper hand, if you ever need to break into some locked networks, backtrax2 supports that card fully.
I"m stuck at a hotel that has a horrible wireless router, that my wireless card cant get a good 'lock' on. And to make things better, I have crappy phone signal, so WiFiRouter is out.
However, when I turn WiFi on, on my Titan, it connects to the hotel router and stays connected. What software is out there to make the Titan into something that will feed my laptop its WiFi connection through USB?
well how old is ur card guy i never heard of the mogul being stromger than a card what yu have a only A or B card or something?
use wmwifirouter to broadcast the hotels signal
I have a Netgear WG511T that rarely even sees the router and an SMC 2336W-AG both a/b/g, both latest drivers as of this weekend. The SMC sees the router for short periods of time then dumps and reconnects.

Click to collapse
you mean use it like a repeater or something? Is there somewhere to find something of a manual for this program?
Hi guys,
Got my Xperia recently on Vodafone UK network. Had problems with Wifi connection as it wouldnt connect to my home local wireless network although all security keys were right. So decided to flash it to the generic UK ROM...did so and everything else is working just the way it is...but the WiFi problem still exists. I cannot connect to my home wireless network. I can see my network, can click connect and it prompts for my network key...I've put the correct one in and it scans for a little while and then a message 'unable to connect to network, please check your network or service provider settings.'
Any idea? This phone seems like a total waste of time and money if I dont make use of it connectivity to the max! Please please please advise!
many people exp problems like this with phones with wifi and iphones and ipod touch and other portable wifi devices
most success seem to be with upgrading the firmware of ones wifi router
other people use changing to another encryption form like wpa or wpa2
wifi
i had the same problem with my netgear router, but all i had to do was log on to the router with my pc, where all the settings are and allow the connection with my X1's mac/IP address. hope this helps.
THanks for all the info guys...I have upgraded the firmware for my wireless router and it works now, I can log on with the Xperia to the WiFi. However...I still cannot use it to do anything useful. I try login on to Windows live...no...Skype...no...Opera...no. Although it is connected to the WiFi, it does not seem to be able to surf the internet. Any ideas?
well.. I would first try to disable any security to make sure your router and the phone can talk first....
now I have just got my phone 2 days ago and since then I have been using wifi all day long.... I can get on msn live and skype and opera and youtube etc... if you want to try it is the phone or the router just try to logon to another router and see... otherwise you can try bringing your phone back to the shop =P
