What are these files in the Windows Folder? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi all,
What are these files?
1. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Broadcast Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only) 2.71M
2. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Notification SMS Protocol (Receive Only) 2.71M
3. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Raw SMS Protocol (Receive Only) 2.71M
4. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Status Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only) 2.71M
5. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Text SMS Protocol 2.71M
6. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft WCMP SMS Protocol 2.71M
7. MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft WDP SMS Protocol 2.71M
They occupied almost 20M space. They looked like SMS related & are stored inside the Windows folder.
Can I eliminate them or move them to SD card?
I am using that A.30.09 WM2003 ROM.
Thanks.

MMS problem

Does anyone have the following problem?
1. The MMS client will not terminate the CSD/Dial-up data connection automatically after an MMS is sent or received. I have to press "end" for 2 second to stop it. refer to the solution from the myxda.com, I had update the ROM already, but this still happen? any solution?
2. When I received a MMS, the program must playing video first. then I need to tap object and see the picture and txt. Can any solution can look at the image and txt directly without watching video, because most of my MMS do not have any video with it.
My ROM detail:
ROM version: 1.60.00 WWE
Radio version: 1.08.00
ExtROM version: 1.60.44
MMS Client: 1.6.0.8

What is the purpose of this file "s\MsgQueueDataFille&q

Dear members,
I would like to seek you assistance : I have just upgraded my XDA 1 after finding the time to do it to Pocket PC 2003. My current config
ROM version: 4.01.12 ENG
ROM date: 12/22/03
Radio Version 4.21.00
Protocol version 32S54
My problem is that I am running out storage space since I only have 32MB onboard memory and I don't have SD card. So whei I was looking at options to remove some files to get some space, I came a accross this 7 files which in the Windows Folders which is taking 2.7mb each. I tried to delete but does allow so I guess it is a systems file.
Is possible to manage the size of each file by reduing the size or can I remove few of the 7 files all togather cos it will easily give about 10 -18mb of free space. Below is the file names as listed
1. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft WDP SMS Protocol
2. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft WCMP SMS Protocol
3. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Text SMS Protocol
4. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Status Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only)
5. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Raw SMS Protocol (Receive Only)
6. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Notification SMS Protoco (Receive Only)
7. Windows\MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft Broadcast Message SMS Protocol (Receive Only)
Appreciate your assistance.
They are part of the operating system, but the good news is that they aren't 2.7meg, but much smaller. I don't know how much smaller or why the size is misreported.
32meg isn't much RAM and you'll always be short of memeory without an SD card. They don't cost much.
Still - How can I solve this?
Thanks JL Jones for the feedback.
Can anyone tell me what should be the right size? How can I get my device to report the right size?
Thanks

Not yet, is it possible to make "bigstorage" without flashing firmware? Don't really wanna do it, works stable.
Yes it is, but flashing firmware is saver than patching & flashing your current rom. Instructions below

- open myrom.nb1 with the hexeditor
- Replace pattern for bigstorage in myrom.nb1:
locate twice the 02 00 00 80 00 20 and change 80 00 to b8 01 in both occurences
(use binary search for this!!)
- save it to mybs.nb1
- type on commandline: ntrw write mybs.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
error at the end is normal
- put the SD in your magician
- now it should read 'press power to flash'
- press the power button
- watch it reaches 100%
- checksum will always fail

Thanks you for this important note!
Didn't found it in the thread of the tool, sorry!

No problem, the hardware setup of a magician is different. For the moment you can unhide the ext-rom, still ad only, or turn it into BIG Storage. The write switch hasn't been found yet.
Cheers, M
Is anybody knows how to unlock Magicians' ext-rom? I need this feature!
First thing that comes to my mind is: Are you blind?
Next thing is: what do you mean with 'need it'? Do you want is visible or BIG Storage?
Visible with running the hidden \windows\loadvdisk.exe
BIG Storage see the wiki or one of my post from today.
Cheers, M

No, I am not blind! I knew how to make it visible. And I knew about big_storage (I don't want it).
All I want is to make my (already) visible ext-rom writable! Just to place my favorite progs to install automatically and delete useless ones from ext-rom!!! How can I do this? In your post above you said, that it is no "write switch'. Hmmm, this means that I can't make it writable, yeah? Toooo bad....
I don't know how to make it writeable, but do know how to change the ext-rom. Bal666 made a tool for this. It decodes the ext-rom to a fat-image so you can mount it as a disk, change it & flash it back.
It not as easy as writing directly to the ext-rom...you can customize it to your needs though.
Cheers, M
Btw offended?

Thanx, but windows didn't started after that... Everyhing was made correct...
Have waited for 5 minutes(maybe it's NOT ENOUTH?) (only the logo screan apeared), lthen aunch bootloader again, try mksbigstorage112 - copy my 416 bytes, flash - OK.
But radio still 1.11.
Now flash my native ROM back, cheksum OK.
want to try 1.12&BigStorage.
So, the questions are:
My device is Qtek S100,
native ROM version: 1.11.00 WWE
native Radio version: 1.11.00
native Protocol version: 1337.42
native ExtROM version: 1.11.113 WWE
1) If i take this ROM:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/Shipped_ROMS/UK_11200_131_11210_ship.exe
change my 416bytes, change "80 00 to b8 01" twice,
Will it work on my qtec and it shoud have Big Storage, correct?
2) What WWE means? is it ok to flash ROM vithout WWE letters?
3) Used SD512mb, after ntrw read the flash, ROM size is 512mb, how to make it's size normal? And after saving in HEX file size doubled(1gb  )
Questions are simple, answer somebody, who knows, NOW please, want to try it immediately.
The first boot after a BS patch takes some time, some report around 10mins. & Only the ori.dumped rom has checksum OK. So I guess you did everything right as the splash appeared for those 5 mins you waited.
The UK_11200_131_11210_ship.exe is a shipped-rom & needs to be treated different. Follow these instructions http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade & you should be having BS & radio 1.12. Btw WWE means World Wide English. Any rom without that can be any language incluing Chinese .
So read the instructions, be patient & GO!

It's bad habit of me all this posting, yes.
I'm pleased with the 1.13WWE. It's stable & battery life is ok.

Sure it can be cut around 64MB. When you've open a BS rom, a downloaded one or one made by mksbigstorager you'll notice that at the end of the rom there's a specific byte pattern. search that in your own dump, keep an eye on the address cause there are more then 1 occurences, & select everything in your rom from the beginning up till that last occurence (including those last bytes) & save it in a new .nb1

Why bad? it's very useful
Coudn't you hint me the link with 1.13 wwe, can't find it nowhere
btw, ROM's for Qtek S100, i-mate Jam, MDA compact are the same and O2 is a little different?
P.S. the phone really needs 5-10 min after flashing with byte-change ROM...
I got my 1.13WWE from http://www.t-mobile.nl/zakelijk/htdocs/page/service/mda_compact_upgrade.asp here.
Don't worry the rom is English.
Somehow formatting the device after applying BS take time.
All magicians are the same, except for the Greek one's. They don't except none Greek roms. O2 roms are having O2's active desktop or something like that. Still the CE rom is useable.
Succes, M

Problem on sms messaging

I can see what sms message I received, but after I click on the sms message to view it's content, it just showed a blank white screen. Just to reply and create a new text message. It also appear a blank screen.
Any idea hoe to solve the problem ?
what ROM are you using? give us details on your prophet...
This is most likely related to the CE-Star Chinese product. When it installs, it places a wince.nls file in the \Temp directory of the device, along with a registry setting under HKLM\Software\Mobem\CE-Star -- MyNLS="\Temp\wince.nls"
After some experiments, it seems that even if you want to move or rename this file, regardless of whether you update the registry setting, it is not possible to do so without affecting the messaging application. I would suspect that somewhere in some of the CE-Star logic is a hard-coded reference to that location.
Solution: If you have CE-Star installed, and are loading the NLS file via the DynaNls.lnk file in \Windows\StartUp, then ensure the registry setting (documented above) is set to "\Temp\wince.nls", and ensure that the wince.nls file installed by the CE-Star application resides in the \Temp directory.
Note: I use the trial version of this product (limited to 50 characters input). I'm not sure whether modifying these settings for the registered version will remove this hard-coded limitation. Personally, I like to only have temporary files in my \Temp folder.

Herald losing SMS settings

Hi there
I have a strange issue with my HTC Herald.
Whenever i soft-reset, the "Text Messages service center" setting is lost (Under Phone -> Services -> Voice Mail and Text Messages .
I've had this problem since i bought my Pda, and was wondering if anyone else encountered this annoyance.
If anyone knows where this setting is stored (registry or file), maybe i can find a way to make a startup script to auto-apply it on reset or something...
Btw, in case this is related to the problem, i'll post the Device Information
ROM Version: 1.8.415.2 WWE
ROM Date : 11/03/06
Radio Version: 02.71.90
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.31
ExtROM version: 1.8.415.102
Thanks!
