I have now so many patches and programmes on this machine, that I am getting a bit worried that if I run empty, I will loose everything.
So therefore I am looking for a simple fast back-up programme that I can run every night before I go home.
Any suggestions please?

Hi,
Maybe you can check Sprite Backup Premium (h++p://www.spritesoftware.com/products/sprite_backup.html).
I am using Sprite Backup and it works well, except for one thing. Although I have not yet verify those problems, there were reports that this software caused trouble to SMS after you restore your XDA using backup generated by Sprite. So, for SMS backup-restore, I am using SPStudio.
Cheers!
Can you pls post the link for SPStudio as well? Thanks.....

not realy it dont work exsacly i mean i make backup my device then a hard reset .. i try to play the backup in to my handheld but error!!
works like a charm on my device...
It worked for me too....until it did the post restore soft reset..and it hung ... and hung...and hung...
I had to hard reset it to get it working again so because of this failure and others reported in this forum, it goes to show it's far from reliable yet.
They'll get it right soon i'm sure but don't rely on it too much.
Does the SMS/MMS backup works with this new version?
Thanx
better use sunnysoft backup manager instead....

Ok I want to do a full Backup of my Herald, so if it crash that i can go into Windows, fire up a program, pressing "restore old ROM" and it is the way i had backuped it.
I know some programs, that are storing backup datas like sms, contacts etc. - but thats not enough for me.
So is there a program that can fulfill my needs?
( and yes, i read a lot in the forum here - but i didn't found anything or i'm just a bit blind )

When you do a backup of your ppc with spb backup, it will backup everything that is on your device (ROM) that is not part of the ROM itself.
It means that all programs installed after a hard reset, all the databases (mails, contacts, notifications,...) all the registry, and all files not being part of the ROM.
So if you do a hard reset and you restore the backup it will be exactly the same as it when you did the backup. And I think that it is what you want.
Caution, if you do an OS up/downgrade, your backup is useless. This backup cannot be either installed on another device.
Cheers,
Fred
ok sweet - ty fred. another question: what if i changed the ROM - how to backup that ? no solution yet?

This is device dependent. With some of them, it is possible, with others it's not, for several reasons. If you don't find tools or someone who managed to do it and provided the way to do so, well you're stuck... I think dumping is not the biggest problem, the real problem is the restore stuff. Sorry, but it is so.
Cheers,
Fred
hehe ok ok - i would be a step closer to my goal if i would find a way to unlock the ROM/ break into, so i can change files in there...

What do you mean? If you're talking about doing it 'live', forget about that. But if you're talking about changing the contents of the Rom before doing the upgrade, well the tools are already existing and kitchens too (depending on the device)
Cheers,
Fred

It should be an official Rom, am I right? If it is the case, download it on the official site and use NBHExtract to get the dump of the .nbh file and rebuild it. Have a look in hermes forum and in xda-wiki
Cheers,
Fred
Yeah it is official, but the thing is: there are no downloads avaiable yet. and thats the point so i'm a bit stucked here...

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades
hehe been there almost 6 times today - and if you try to download them, they would fail.
And the thing is: my current ROM versions exceeds hell of the versions on that page. so why should i use the old ones ? thats not really what i want to :/

WHAT #@###]??!\\|???????
1) This is a 1 year old thread....
2) Have you read the thread or not??
3) Have you read the thread?
4) Read again the thread......
This is a joke..... Right???
If you are running a T-mob Ameo on WM5 (i.e. you haven't upgraded to WM6 yet), could you please upload copies of the T-Mobile ringtones / alarms from WM5 - that is the only thing I miss from the previous ROM and unfortunately I forgot to back them up before upgrading.
Thanks
Why would you want them?
They're fairly offensive to the ears don't you think.....
I've just realized what you said.....am I missing something? What have you upgraded to?

Again, thanks for the help. I don't want to hard reset, lose all my data (or risk it), then reflash and then reinstall all of my apps.
If someone could, pretty please, just take the two minutes to upload the files I would be very grateful.
I'm just about to do the upgrade, but want to backup the WM5 rom before I do owt - how to? If someone can point me in the right direction, I'll be happy to oblige...

It's too late for me as I got excited and flashed, however aren't the tones identical across ALL windows mobile devices as well as the Ameo?
Might be better to post it on general discussion for a faster result.

I do have an original HTC cd but it has a trial product key for MS Outlook 2007
Guess this is not what you are looking for.
Hi Steeph
I thought that the original disk had the full Outlook product and licence. I may have been wrong... no probs - thanks for the response.
Microsoft MyPhone also backs up the SMS if you check the correct box.
